I've had to do a lot of dodging a weaving just to get to the bottled drinks in the back. It's not too bad when getting gas. You have to be careful for the crappy drivers go through the lot. This is one of those gas stations that you have to get a key to use the restroom. I'll never forget that shady looking guy who offered to watch my car while I went inside for a few dollars. Anyone who has ever been here knows the parking is not ideal but the customer service trumps that any day.

The dog park is our dog's favorite part of the trip obviously and it was free of poop on both sides. The two sides allow you to keep your dog separate from another person's pets if you wish. If you want to either let them play together or just give your dog more space to frolic and play, you can open the gate between the two sides for the full experience. We also love that we can quickly grab tasty tenders from the attached Bojangles.

I love going to Aldi because of their great prices on staples, such as milk, eggs, sugar and flour, as well as their selection of one time finds. You can find seasonal items like German Christmas cookies and special Oktoberfest or Easter items. I usually go to the Normal location but will stop here whenever i happen to be in the area.

Area around the entrance could have been swept and washed. The store has a large variety of items and likely cater to the truckers. They have showers and diesel. The cashier's were the problem. Just seems they made everything a little harder and slower. Multiple people came in with problems going on with the food and diesel pumps. Then I had a problem with a charger. Thankfully they did a return and I found another car plug that worked with my phone. They were apologetic and friendly but just slow and unorganized. It was a bit painful watching the cashier's but I made it out of there with a working charger, empty bladders and a grill tank of gas.

I am a former employee, and you have to seriously relish the fact that it's one of the last independently owned gas/convienient stores in the county. I was hired here after burning a radiohead CD for one of the employees. After a half hour interview with Larvin, the owner - I was hired, and away into the E Mart (shop smart, shope EMart) subculture. Here are amazing facts and things to enjoy about Express Mart: The only service station where employees get tips. -Larvin claims to have the best ice cream temperature in Normal -Fresh Fountain Soda -They will accept local checks with ID -Extrodinarily Cheap Beer -Very entertaining evening employees -Restroom closes at 11.00 to prevent problems with drunks -Employees are required to place those numbers on the gas prices sign with suction cup attached to an archaic and often frozen steel pole -Decent selection of Newspapers, including the NY Times -Assuming it's changed by now, but smoking was proudly allowed in the store and by employees during work. -Open late every night - an ideal beer supplier for the post bar celebrations. -Getting cars towed at night is a sport to the employees - don't park there Really though, in all seriousness. Larvin is a very nice guy (but he will loudly yell at you if you do something stupid) - and he is in business with many vendors, and other small business owners in Normal. He has been in business for many years, and he steadily employs several full time employees and many college students and local business people. Your money spent here really does stay in the community. I miss the place, I admit that - but really, in todays age - there just aren't many Express Mart's left in the world. Enjoy!

However, the staff was kind. I went back inside after pumping gas to get my receipt. Seems like genuine nice people but just bad at housekeeping. Long story short, it's convenient... just don't use the bathroom.
