On Saturday, after spending a fun day with my best friend in Oshawa, we called it a day. I was driving up Ritson Road North to try out the free 407 segment between Brock Road in Pickering, and highway 35/115 in Clarington. Why not enjoy a faster drive home for free, right? It was raining. I spotted a Circle K sign. The corner didn't look like it had a gas station. Oh, wow. It's a standalone Circle K! My second thought: It must have hot dogs and roller foods! It's the small things that make my life complete. I made a right turn onto Coldstream Drive into the parking lot. I backed into a spot in front of the store and walked in. This store gets full marks for customer service alone. I walked in and the man at the checkout on my left welcomed me by asking how I was doing. Wow! The staff at a Circle K that I used to frequent the most in Scarborough didn't care about how folks were doing. I was here to redeem my instant prize from the Rock Paper Prizes game. I was looking at AriZona teas. I grabbed a green tea. Done! I also saw a special on Bai drinks. Three of them were going for $6. I hadn't had any in ages, so I got three. I did pass by the roller hot foods to get to the AriZona drinks in the fridge. It had all my favourites. Hot dogs. Tornadoes filled with cheesy pepper jack. Buffalo chicken RollerBites. Cheddar and jalapeno cheddar sausages. I was in heaven! Sadly, I didn't get any roller items. I had just had dinner and was stuffed. Next time! This store was busy at around 7:30 pm on a Saturday. I lined up to pay. I redeemed my AriZona prize. I then paid for my Bai drinks. I tapped and was good. I thanked the man and left with my drinks. Because this store is a standalone Circle K, you won't be able to earn PC Optimum points. You would need a Circle K attached to an Esso gas station to be able to collect PC Optimum points. I've consumed all my Bai drinks since purchasing them. I got two of the raspberry lemon lime and one mango. They were yummy. This store didn't have my usual coconut. I hope that it still exists. I love AriZona green tea. The size was perfect. It was so cold when I drank it at home. I loved finding this store and getting drinks here. I look forward to getting a hot dog or whatever roller snack is available next time I'm in the neighbourhood. (264)

I was heading home from…read moreRichmond Hill and wanted to visit the Circle K at Markham Road and Major Mackenzie Drive in Markham, which is one of my go-to stores. It was a Thursday evening, just before 10 pm. The gas price at this Esso gas station was so low that the lineup spilled onto Markham Road. I had to pass dropping by the store. Instead, I drove a few blocks south to this Circle K. It's on the southwest corner of Markham Road and 16th Avenue. I pass by it often. It was my first time stopping by. There were many parking spots available in front of the store. I backed into one. This convenience store is also a part of an Esso gas station. Oddly, there wasn't a massive lineup for gas here. This store also has a built-in Tim Hortons. I witnessed a woman who wanted Timmy's, but it wasn't open. She was making such a fuss that a Circle K employee had to speak with her and got her to chill. She obviously needed caffeine. I found the Polar Pop machine. I was pleased that it had Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi. Most of the time, it's all full-on sugary drinks. I got a Diet Pepsi. I then browsed around the store. There was a Mountain Dew sale happening. A case of twelve cans was going for $14.99. I'm not a regular Mountain Dew consumer. I find the price to be expensive. I'm not sure if it's because the flavours were limited editions or if you pay more for Mountain Dew. Who knows? This store has a decent selection of limited edition chocolate bars and candy. I was happy to see KitKat Rolo chunky bars. The strawberry Smarties intrigued me. I also saw strawberry scoop Aero bars that looked yummy, too. I waited briefly in line to redeem my coupon. I got a friendly man at the counter. I got my coupon scanned. The drink was mine. I thanked him and left the store with my drink. Maybe I'm used to the crispness of Diet Coke from McDonald's (I do miss $1 summer drinks these days). I didn't taste any of that in my Diet Pepsi. The flavouring was a bit off. Maybe it needed more syrup. It was okay for free. I'd return for the limited edition flavours. I was pleased that I could redeem my coupon here. (362)

I remembered this store on the northeast corner of Kennedy Road and Finch Avenue. I had never been there. It was time to pay it a visit. I drove down Kennedy Road after having seen my dentist. I made a left-hand turn into the Esso station. All parking spots in front of Circle K were occupied, except for the spot for those with an accessibility parking pass. Instead, I pulled off to the side, closest to the gas station sign on Finch Avenue. I then walked over. This store is large. It has a lot of products to absorb. I saw Atypique non-alcoholic cocktails. I can see myself cracking one open as I start a road trip because I want to feel fancy... haha! Tim Hortons is at the back when you first walk in and stare ahead. To the right of it are the Polar Pop and Froster machines. The payment area is on the left. This store was doing steady business, which was nice to see. I got AriZona teas. I like that there was fruit punch and mango. I typically get green tea and watermelon. I welcomed the change. I also needed peanuts. I found them where you enter the lineup to pay for your items. The man at the counter was friendly and he anticipated that I had coupons. "Ah, Rock, Paper, and Scissors (game) is back!" he said. "Yes, I'm happy!" I exclaimed with perhaps too much enthusiasm. He asked me if I needed a bag. I was okay saving one and carrying my stuff to my car. I scanned my coupon barcodes. I then scanned my PC Optimum barcode and paid with my debit card. He thanked me and wished me a great day. I reciprocated. It's nice that my fridge looks like a mini Circle K store again. I can't wait to try the mango drink later on today. I like this store equally as much as the one on Steeles Avenue East, across from Walmart. Distance-wise, they are pretty close to being equidistant from my home. I can't go wrong either way. Pumps are quickly activated. The counter employee was courteous and efficient with my transaction. A Tim Horton's outlet is onsite and also has drive-thru service so this location can be very busy at times. A car wash, vacuum & tire inflation, snacks, drinks, an ATM machine, a lotto station, propane swap and a restroom are found here as well.

We asked for 2 passes, but the owner (They are a husband & wife) let us know that on Weekends & Holidays you can use 1 pass for a "family". I really appreciate this kind of service. Anyway, I had one final coupon from that game. It was for a small Dairy Milk bar with Oreo. As much as I appreciate getting free items, some of them are difficult to find. This one was one of them. I could find the large bar at various Circle K store. I have yet to see this small bar at the stores that I frequent recently. While in Newmarket yesterday, I passed by this Circle K on my way to Market & Co. This Circle K is across from a Petro-Canada that I like. This store is a part of an Esso gas station. After visiting Market & Co., I decided to pay this store a visit. If you are heading southbound on Yonge Street, you can turn left onto Eagle Street and make another left into the lot. The problem is that this street always has a long lineup, so you can be waiting a long time to make your final turn into the lot. Instead, I recommend doing a u-turn on Yonge Street and hanging a right into the lot. It's less waiting. There were several parking spots in front of the store. I parked closest to the main doors and walked in. I saw a large can of watermelon Bubly. I got one. I looked at the small Dairy Milk bars. I couldn't find the one with Oreo. The fruit and nut, and regular milk chocolate were there. I asked the man at the counter if he had the Oreo version in a small size. He came around to check. He didn't. He said that we could try redeeming my coupon for one of the others and see if it would be accepted. That gesture was wonderful customer service. He wanted me to be a delighted customer. It's the main reason for this perfect rating. He scanned the chocolate bar. I scanned my coupon. It didn't work. The system wanted an Oreo version. Instead, he took down my coupon code and gave me my milk chocolate bar for free. I appreciated it. I paid for my Bubly. I scanned my PC Optimum barcode, followed by paying with my credit card. All was well. He asked if I needed a car wash. I let him know that I have two waiting to be used. I need a dirtier car, which made him smile. I thanked him for his help and his kindness. He wished me a great day. I reciprocated and left with my goodies. I had my Dairy Milk in the car heading home. It tasted so creamy and was the perfect treat as I drove home. I had a talk with a friend recently. We miss the British versions of Dairy Milk. They taste a bit different, but I'm happy to take the Canadian version these days, especially when it's free. I had the watermelon Bubly at home. It was delicious. I love anything watermelon. It was fizzy, cold, and refreshing. This convenience store is a good one. Lots of parking. Great customer service.
