Long line to pay at the register--partly because they sell ice cream there too. One party was a family with small kids and the parents were explaining what different ice cream flavors and sizes were... by this point, the whole experience was like something out of a comedy. At least I didn't have to be at my destination at a particular time. I bought a cup of ice cream too, but employee workflow and communication was so bad that I was standing there waiting for it while several staff members were standing around because no one picked up the slip of paper to make it. Basically: This was at least a 25-minute stop that should have been a 10-minute stop, including bathroom breaks and food to go at the restaurant in the same building, Cook's Corner (which has its own Yelp page, FYI). Would like to see more employees take some initiative and be more efficient. Basically: I wish QT would expand to Alaska or at least take over employee training.

After being in the store for 15 minutes my dog is now starting to be less attentive and loosing focus. I go to self check out and get confronted by a middle aged woman who I assume worked for Walmart (she never introduced herself or said hello). This woman said "We don't allow pets in our store." Me being uncomfortable and un confrontational replied with okay because a break was clearly needed for me and my dog, I turn around to pay and leave and she continues to repeat herself. I said "Okay i'm almost done." I get replied back to with "Your pet needs to leave the building." This went on for the full 5 minutes it took me to finish checking out.. she threatened to call KPC and continued to tell me my dog was a pet and that this was illegal. General reminder out there for those who need it service dogs are not required to wear identification and often can be mistaken for pets, please ask the right questions needed if worried.

So the COK is a tiny town population 7400, so it is missing a Costco so Three Bears delivers that EXCEPT the prices are not the same as Anchorage or certainly the lower 48. Nothing is cheap in Alaska so being able to buy in bulk is I know very nice for residents. There is a Walmart in town just a couple blocks away so they compliment each other. I did buy 6 umbrellas for $0.99 each so that was actually a deal. Yes these are throwaways but can be spread around one's life (car, purse, back pack etc) for the inopportune moments where it is raining way more than expected. It is worth taking a gander just to acquaint oneself with what stuff is there.
