It was a mix of chips, pretzels, and packaged desserts like cakes and danishes. Many of the items were at or past expiration date, which is to be expected using this app. The few snacks I had were good and did not taste bad, so I was pleased. When it was my turn, I gave him a five dollar bill--much smaller in value--and he stopped to check it like it might be counterfeit. The difference in how we were treated was hard to ignore. I'm a person of color and was wearing a jacket, and I couldn't shake the feeling that I was being profiled or judged based on how I looked. I've never had anyone inspect a five dollar bill like that before, and the entire interaction made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I don't know if it was about my skin tone, my clothes, or something else--but it wasn't right, and it ruined what should've been a quick, simple visit.
