I would think they could make some dough putting in gas pumps as the locals must not enjoy driving 30 miles west on SR14 to fill up. I've never paid much attention but there could be a card-lock place across the street for businesses that have a membership. Those tractors certainly gulp down a lot of diesel in a week's time. There used to be a ferry here that went over to Arlington, OR but it's long gone now. It was used frequently by the locals to fetch groceries across the river. In recent years the population of Roosevelt has increased dramatically after the town decided that they would build a landfill and welcome the trash from the Seattle area. Trains loaded with refuse keep truck drivers employed and busy hauling the containers up the hill to be emptied. Prior to the landfill, Roosevelt was little more than a whistle stop with a dive bar and a couple of other now derelict businesses. Food here is pretty decent these days as they are feeding local truckers who want and expect a hardy meal at a reasonable price. You'll find that here. Staff is very friendly. There's a little park and boat launch down the road (south) with picnic tables and a view of the river.

Most of the employees are crackheads. How good the carls junior is completely depends on who is there. They would have to pay enough for people to want to drive out there and pay enough that they can root out all the degenerates. But I wanted to recommend that you fill your gas tank here during your visit for 3 reasons: 1 - The service was great. The kid who worked there was friendly, and the fuel pump is the old style with the gauges that roll upwards. It's been quite a while since I've seen those, and this may be one of the last working pumps of that style I've seen around. 2 - The price was fair, especially for being a monopoly in a small town with no other options around. 3 - When you see the charge on your credit card statement, it will read "Fossil Fuel". Seriously. :)
