I love this movie theater and I go every time I'm in Tijuana. It's the second and smaller movie theater in Plaza Rio. It's located a bit further into the plaza whereas the regular Cinepolis is located right at the entrance. I think it's safe to say I've been here over 50 times. At one point in my life I used to watch a movie here twice every month. The workers are all so friendly and helpful. There's a nice lounge near the concession area that you can use if while you're waiting for your viewing room to open up. They have a menu that's exclusive to the VIP theatre. If you're running late and didn't have time to stop at the concession stand, you're able to order directly from your seat within the viewing room. It's usually pretty clean and I've never had a problem getting my tickets. The reclining chairs are comfortable, and while I rarely consume alcoholic beverages in movie theaters, I think it's great that they have the option for those that do. The crepes are my favorite snack. My favorite is blackberry jam with cream cheese. read more

We typically go to another Cinepolis VIP in Tijuana but today the movie we wanted to see wasn't playing at our usual spot so we went to ViP at Plaza Rio. It's located inside the mall and there is ample parking at the mall parking lot. Upon walking up there was no one working the ticket counter but after a brief wait we were asked what movie we wanted to see and purchased our tickets. It looked as though they were a bit understaffed because the person at the ticket counter then had to run behind the snack counter to help another customer. They have comfortable chairs but it smelled a bit mildewy when we walked in the theater. It could have been because it was the first showing of the day and the air conditioning had been off. The smell went away pretty quickly and the sound and picture were great. read more

Great friendly staff. Service was pretty fast. Better seats than the one in Inglewood. The food was not it. Too sweet and heavy. Even the popcorn was too salty. Love that they give Tapatio with the popcorn. read more

Just a heads up, they weren't serving any alcoholic beverages with meals during movies. We're not sure if it's an issue with the liquor license but ticket prices haven't adjusted accordingly & it's not posted on their website. read more

The concept sounds great but.... It is Always sold out. Their app errors out when trying to purchase tickets. Impossible to get in unless you stop by in advance and purchase tickets. I have tried 3 times and no luck. If it is ever available or their app/website ever starts working, I'll update this review. I'll keep trying. read more

My girlfriend and I went here to watch The Moon Killers and it was a total disaster. The chick who took our order, asked to be paid on cash only, okay, no big deal, but then they never brought our food. An hour went by to find out that they did not even know about our order. I had to go down twice to ask for my order and it was never brought to us. I pressed the button to get help and not once I was checked on. The employee was rude when I asked for my order for the second time. I mean, I paid for the order, waited for a whole hour and I got an attitude back. VIP is a name that says it all. This is the place to go if you want to sit and relax while watching a movie. The standard Cinepolis is fine, but the lineups to receive your popcorn are ridiculously long. At the VIP, all you have to do is place an order and they will provide exactly what you want. We recently visited with our children when they were showing a children's film, and we had a great time. We will undoubtedly return. VIP es un nombre que lo dice todo. Amazing movie teather better than the ones in USA. I live in USA and wow this teather is completely different from all the one I have been too. The prices are so cheap it's like 6 dollars per person. And the best part is all the food they have and the service they give. You go inside and order from the menu whaterever you want! They have everything sushi burgers crepes ice creams pina coladas etc. It's a very intense menu. And they take your order to your seat inside the movie. They have those seats you move to lay down and also have a mini table where you can place your food and drinks! We ordered sushi the shrimp sushi with a pina colada crepes nachos and a soda. On a recent trip to Tijuana we decided to take our son who is four to see Cars 3. This was his first time in a real movie theater. Since we don't speak Spanish we wanted to see the movie in English. The normal Cinepolis was not showing the movie in English so I found that VIP Cinepolis was showing in English with Spanish subtitles. First we tried buying our tickets online but for some reason the purchase would not go through. When we got to the theater we went to the counter to buy our tickets. Through my very bad Spanish we were able to purchase our tickets. We purchased two adult tickets and one child for $23. You can't beat that. The theater was wonderful! The seats are basically paired in sets of two. The seats are large leather reclining seats Each set has a side table with the a swivel tray and cup holder. There is then a partition between the seats that can be lifted. Since there were three of us my son and I sat together and my husband on the other side of him. Even though there was a table between my husband and son it wasn't overly large so it felt as though we were seated together, it just made it a little more difficult to share the popcorn. There were waiters who come to take your food and drink orders. We bought two very large drinks and a large popcorn for about $8. You can't even get the popcorn for that price in San Diego. The only downside to the waiter service is that most of them did not speak English and had no patience trying to listen to our broken Spanish. Before the movie began it was easier since you could use the menu and point to a picture but once the movie was on and it was dark in the theater you could not do this and it was hard to order. The movie experience at this theater was wonderful and we would definitely come back again. You really can't beat the price and the comfort of this theater. It was also a great theater to bring my son for his first time in a theater because he was able to be very comfortable and since everyone is spaced our a little more his talking from time to time didn't bother anyone. read more

The theatre itself is rad. We really enjoyed the comfortable reclining chairs and the table service. We were a bit disappointed when we were charged more for both of our drinks than was listed on the menu. Once the movie is playing you don't want to distract other people in the theatre so arguing prices wasn't an option. The receipt the server gave us didn't list the cost we were charged or the change we were given which is kinda shady (see pic). Next time we'll try to arrive early and get our orders placed before the movie begins. read more

I've been to this location once prior and I love it! It's about $6.50 American dollars and you get super comfortable seats (recliners) with a small lamp to see what you're doing. You have the option to order food from anywhere from burgers to sushi, candy and beer or spirits. I love this place! I don't speak Spanish but the movies are in a English with subtitles wth Spanish. It's not a bad deal! Great prices and comfortable. Come here! read more

Si pudiera no pondría ni una estrella. Pésimo servicio, y no se porque claman ser VIP. Pedí unos nachos, smoothie y una crepa. Después de 1hr me trajeron el smoothie y la crepa. El smoothie hecho agua y la crepa fría y sudada. Los nachos al parecer nunca me los trajeron y Justo 10min antes de que se acabara la película fui a recordarles otra vez y querían prepararlos en ese instante! 10min ya que se iba a acabar la película, eso era ridículo! Excellent place to watch a movie. I won't go into to much detail as other reviews described it perfectly. You can also get discounts at Costco that can lower the price to leave even further, why even bother going to a US theater ever again? I docked this location a star because sometimes the food or drinks we order don't come till way late into the movie, even when ordering 10 minutes before the trailers even start. Also there are a couple of rooms where the seats are sorely in need of repair, ripped leather and not working recliners. As long as you don't get those two, all the other have nice seats. read more

My new favorite way to practice my Spanish! For the bargain price of about $8, you can luxuriate in a comfy recliner while taking in a movie in air conditioned bliss. A push of a button summons the waiter, who can bring all manner of deliciousness. A combo including two churros, cajeta dip, and an iced coffee was less than $5 and was very tasty! This type of theatre experience runs about $25 in the states, NOT including the food. As for the movies, you can select among movies in Spanish, or in English with Spanish subtitles. Both are great ways to practice, making this experience both productive and relaxing. The theater is located in a mall, which can be fun to walk around. Parking is onsite in a secure structure which only cost us 10 pesos for the 3 hours we were there-- that's about 50 cents. read more

I liked everything about the place, the staff, the quality of the picture I think it could've had a bit more volume or intensity/base but that's just my preference lol. I really enjoyed the variety of the menu and it was reasonably priced for being a high end theater. I would definitely come again and refer Friends and family here. read more

Worth the trip south of the border! $7 movie ticket. It's not difficult to buy online. My American debit card didn't work on their website but PayPal went through. Be sure the film and showing you select has the SUB icon. I didn't order food at all so don't really have an opinion about that. The seating was pretty comfortable. read more

2nd time going to this place and the 1st time it was pretty chill nothing special just that they serve you your popcorn and food while you are sitting down waiting for the movie to start. On my second time was going to be to watch the Avengers movie... we came a day before to try to watch it but it was sold out so we decided to try and watch it the next day on a monday because we figured there will not be anybody... once we got here we had to wait 1 hour and 20min because the one starting soon was already booked. 1 hour later after we were walking and buying food trying to make time we decide to go back to the theater and wait for the last 20 min...once inside waiting we looked at the tickets and guess what ??? They gaved us the wrong tickets.. so i figured it was their fault for making that mistake and told them abiut it and all the manger said was that she can give us our money back or change the tickets to another time which was 2 more hours of wait. So we decided to just leave and thanks cinepolise vip for giving me a bad experience will not go back. read more
