Not only does he make a phenomenal espresso martini, he is fun, engaging and genuinely conversational -- the kind of bartender who reminds you that great hospitality is about so much more than just making a great drink. We enjoyed him so much that we came back to the Living Room our second night specifically because of him! When we learned Patrick has been with Marriott for 20 years, it made perfect sense. He is an incredible representation of hospitality and an absolute asset to the W and Marriott. W Fort Lauderdale -- you have a gem in Patrick Ryan. He is exactly the kind of person guests remember and return for. Please make sure he gets the recognition he deserves!

We both had never had Lebanese cuisine and seemed something fun to do. We loved the decorations and warm welcome we got the moment we entered. I could not tell you the name of what I ordered. We took the waitress advice on everything. She was right on. We loved everything she recommended. She recommended platters to try a little bit of everything. That was perfect for us. The food was delicious. I am hooked on Lebanese cuisine. The staff was amazing and friendly. The table service was fast. They checked on us. We were happy. They had a dancer the day we came. She was excellent. This was more than just a dinner. It was a fun cultural experience.

What makes it…read morespecial to me is that it's a true family business, one that has kept the culture and food preparation passed down through generations. That's one of the most important part of the menu, at least for me, and it's what makes this place feel like a piece of home. There's a touch of melancholic taste that carries all the way from Lebanon to these tables. I remember the father owner preparing the grape leaves one by one, with patience and love that image will never fade. The raw kibbeh, muhammara, and labneh are all incredible healthy, vegetable-based food, paired with good quality meat like lamb. The ambience is great, pleasant, Saturdays are more fun and loud with traditional music and hookah. Absolutely one of my favorite places in Pompano.

The first thing we noticed, which was a bit unexpected, was the decor. The ambiance was really nice and inviting. This is the type of restaurant where someone could host a party. The service was really good too. We received water almost immediately after being seated, and our server came by shortly after. The manager stopped by throughout our visit to provide recommendations, and he was really nice. It made the experience feel more personal. For our appetizer, we ordered the Baba Ghannouj, which complemented the pita bread really well. It was our first time having it, and we did not know what to expect, but it was great. It was really flavorful, and we finished it wanting more. For our entrees, we had the Lamb Chops and the Seafood Tagine. The lamb chops were great. It was not a huge portion, but the meat was flavorful and cooked well. The presentation was also really nice. The Seafood Tagine looked great, and the sauce was incredibly flavorful. Everything about the dish worked well together, and we felt that all the flavors complemented one another. There was a good harmony between the ingredients. For dessert, we ordered the Kunafa, which was another first for us. We had never had it before, but the description really sold us on it. It was really good. This is the kind of dessert that is best shared since it is a little heavy. Toward the end of our visit, a belly dancer came out to perform, and it was really exciting. La Vie is a great restaurant, and we will definitely return. We felt as though we got a true Mediterranean experience during our visit.

We started with batata harra and cheese bulak. Both were great! The potatoes in the batata harra were very well seasoned and flavorful. For our entrees we got chicken tagine and lamb chops. I must say the lamb chops were phenomenal. Perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection. I definitely recommend getting them medium. All in all if you're looking for something different definitely go check it out!

We decided to stop by here on our vacation, and at first glance the place does not appear to be…read moreopen. We tried calling and the number listed on Yelp is not in service. My boyfriend said he thought he saw lights, so we parked and checked it out. It was open, and the new owner informed us they hadn't updated the phone number yet. We showed him the offer for a free hookah with check-in and he said he would honor it. The waitress didn't speak much English and had a difficult time understanding our drink and hookah order. The place does not have their liquor license so they offer wine based alcoholic beverages. The atmosphere was mildly Egyptian themed, but the TVs reflected that of a co fused sports bars: basketball, and college softball games were on screens, along with one screen showing old shows from the 60s. The "dj" was busy smoking hookah most of the time, and before long the owner started drinking at the bar. A second bartender arrived dressed as if she worked at a strip club, complete with unitard that went up between her butt cheeks with tattoos and cellulite displayed in abundance. We opted not to stay for a second drink as the atmosphere was really lacking. It took about ten minutes to get the waitresses attention to tell her we wanted our check, another ten for her to bring us the check, and when we looked at the bill we saw that the free hookah offer was not honored, she rang up the vodka cranberry as vodka red bull (different charge) and his whiskey sour as a whiskey and coke (also a different charge). At that point we just wanted to leave and decided not to contest the bill. It took another 7 minutes to get the waitress's attention to take our card. Once she did she passed it off to the owner who took the card, proceeded to sit and drink his alcoholic beverage at the bar before getting into a discussion with the woman wearing basically no clothing. He finally handed the card off to her and she eventually ran the card. Had there not been an 18% gratuity automatically charged we wouldn't have left any tip at all. With this type of service and amount of attention given to business and the customers by the owner it will be a shock if they stay open.

It's a small lounge with bar seating along the sides and a few couches and tables in the center, giving it a relaxed but lively vibe. Our group of about 30 stopped in last Saturday during a bar crawl, and to my surprise, the drinks were excellent and very reasonably priced. I ordered a whiskey smash and a bourbon sour, both $11, and both were made really well. They also offer specialty cocktails, and ordering at the bar was easy even with our large group. The music was great, the service was solid, and it never felt overly crowded, even though most of our party filled the bar area. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back. I had no idea this place was here, but I'm really glad we found it.
