Really good Cinema! The only problem: Inside the Munchbox needs to be a little bit more stable, but other than that, it really good!

When this was your typical flea pit cinema, it was still a wonderful place to visit. Then it fell into disrepair and became a place you dared your mates to break into during the late 1980s after school had finished. Now, The Rex (as all good cinemas should be called) has been restored to its former glory. When I say former, think 1930s Art Deco, plush red seating, original projector and art house matinées. The place is a treat and a MUST visit for any cineophile. Prices are reasonable (approx £7 at time of writing) but availability is tough. You need to quick on the phone as it seems every person in Berkhamsted is a paid up member. Before each performance (and they are performances!) you can relax in the lobby where there are books on film to paw over or head down stairs and grab yourself a beer or a glass of wine. It's that sort of place. Do make sure you get to your seat in time for the traditional, and I found informative, pre film introduction from the Manager, James. A proud, curious creature James embodies the character behind this most charming of movie houses.

This is more of an experience than a simple cinema, and seems hugely popular book in advance.

Imagine if they merged a trendy (yet decently neighborhood feeling) bar with a movie theater (and…read moreeverything was super clean)... then you get Curzon Cinema. I went here with a very tasteful theater goer to watch the all time epic about Sacramento - Lady Bird The great: - The screen! - really crisp and clear with great sound - The seats - super comfortable - The ambiance - trendy modern - super clean - The drink selection - up to date movie selection - Some of the most chipper service ever.. Why it didn't get 5 stars - we ordered truffle fries... it took about 15 minutes for maybe 13 fries... - it wasn't easy to order popcorn... yes that is a problem Great for: - watching movies with people your age - enjoying a movie with real food and alcohol - grad students - undergrad students Not great for: - high schoolers - teen girls - break ups

You can buy snacks at the ticket desk and popcorn and drinks at the bar which you bring in to the cinema. Each chair has its own mini table; conference seat style. Was rather nice to have a beer and pretzels while watching a film. A significantly nicer experience than the big cinemas. Only niggle (and why I gave 4, rather than 5 stars) was that it was incredibly hot and stuffy so some work for them to do on the air conditioning.

If you get a chance to watch a movie here I would def take it…read more I parked in the Eden shopping centre car park so it was just a short walk to the Cinema in the shopping complex. We went to see 500 Days of Summer (also excellent by the way!) and I gasped out loud as I walked into the Screen. It was HUGE! The screen was tremendous and there were approx a gazillion seats. Lovely, modern, clean, wonderful image quality, superb audio. Tremendous all around. I am not sure if it was due to the quality of the film or the superiority of the cinema design but despite the size it was a very intimate and personal experience. Sweet popcorn was great too. (Yes the cardboard style popcorn, whatever! Judge me :) ) I wish it was nearer London but as I often travel to Oxford I'll be making a stop here on my way past as often as I can. Due to being in the Eden shopping centre there are plenty of restaurants, shops & starbucks about too... ps. I had a hotdog!! I hadn't eaten for ages and the staff looked like they could do with some help meeting their sales targets. They were nice. Ok I had two but I don't recommend them cause I was too hungry to be a fair judge.

It also has cheap Tuesday tickets and an unlimited scheme when for £12 a month you can see as many films as you like. As it has 12 screens it shows a really good choice of films with lots of showings every day. The food is pricey as it is in all cinemas but no one forces us to buy it. Unfortunately you do have to pay to park but it is cheaper after 6pm.
