Digital Sound and air conditioning will be coming to screen 1 soon. 3D will also be installed in screens 3 and 4, but it will be 35mm 3D to start with. Menaing the cinema will then have 3/4 3D screens. With 2 different 3D systems - Xpand Digital 3D, and a 35mm 3D system (probably Technicolour). Great cinema, great prices, great staff and massive improvements currently taking place. 4 screens and more tehnically is a multiplex, so this cinema will be a 4 screen multiplex from December 2010!!!!!!!!

Our nearest city cinema is about 40 minute drive away - and about 40 miles. The cinema is located near the top of the high street - it has 1 screen!! Which does not have amazing sound or amazing screen. The decor is art decor - truly and the reception is always welcoming with a big smile. Expect to either go and be one a few to be in the cinema or prepare to book if it is a blockbuster French Lieutenant Woman et al If you are in Lyme and it is raining - go to the cinema it will be a experience that you will enjoy even if the film is no good..

Last time I saw a movie there, there was still a break when they changed the reel! It really is a step back in time, nostalgic to a period I don't remember. The small and rather old-fashioned Westway Cinema stands in the same street as (now demolished) The Gaumont, the main cinema from the sixties era in this town. The films are usually pretty much up to the minute - even if not quite as fast as the bigger towns - well, we have a quieter pace of life around here! As for facilities, it's situated built into the Westway shopping precinct and just a few footsteps away from the central car park. There's showings every day, often twice a day, and as mentioned the titles are always popular, recently released films. Up the steep stairs (ask in advance about wheelchair access) there is a small foyer with ticket sales, sweet and soft drink sales - and a small bar. Yes, here you can sip a pint or two as you watch the action unfold on the screen. In homage to the olden days of cinema a small ice-cream kiosk opens between the adverts and the main feature for last-minute stock-up of drinks and nibbles. With concessions for children and OAPs and a perfectly pleasant and comfortable setting, this saves a small fortune (especially for families) on travelling to the more pricey cinemas in Bath. Three screens are available and often films are shown that have been and gone at the larger ones. It is one of the few remaining cinemas in the country that you are able to have a pint of beer in. In many English towns, you can go into a shop or showroom, and immediately recoginise that 'this…read moreused to be the cinema'. Such buildings are fairly common, but the 'cinema which used to be something else' is much rarer. The Odeon in Salisbury is an excellent example. The mediaeval half-timbered frontage is a good sign that the building long predates the invention of the cinematograph. Indeed, it does; it was built as the residence of one John Hall in the 15th Century! In the narrow, high-ceilinged hall, now the foyer, much has been preserved, from the shields and weapons on the walls to the mullioned windows and stone fireplace. Inside the auditorium, though, all is modern. We were there to see a 3D film, a cutting edge technology which makes you feel as if you're actually there. Except for the seats ... they're a bit hard!

The first film i watched here was a Harry Potter film, and the cinema felt rather like Hogwarts with gargoyls and stone floors greeting you, then high beamed ceilings when you get into your cinema screen. The architecture of the building is almost distracting! As the building is so old, and odeon have maintained so many original features, the cinema is not the most comfortable as the seats are quite close together and if like me you have long legs this makes you feel rather squashed! It can often feel quite full in the foyer as it is quite small. Don't be detered though, the atmostphere is worth it!
