Everyone knows that South Bank is the best place (read cheapest) to go for movies if you live in or near the city. What many people don't realise is that the same people that operate the South Bank cinemas have a few other locations; Hawthorne, Balmoral and Victoria Point. Victoria Point in particular is my favourite, mainly because it's closer to where I live, but also because there is ample free parking and it's a lot quieter than its city based counterparts. Victoria Point also offers a Deluxe Cinema option, which costs an incredibly cheap $12.50. It's not quite as superior as Gold Class in other movie complexes, but it's still a step up from the regular cinemas. The chairs are more plush and in groups of two. You can also order food and drinks, including alcoholic beverages, to be brought to you during the movie. My only complaint is that the chairs do not recline, one of my favourite aspects of Gold Class. However, if you want a bit of a treat you won't find much better than this at such a super low price. And if you're seeing a movie suitable for children, it's a great way to avoid noisy kids or bravado teenagers. Take note that opening hours depend on session times, but the general rule is that doors open 15 minutes before the start of the first session each day, and close about 15 minutes after the start of the final session of the day. On Mondays there are no late-night sessions. read more

Cineplex at Victoria Point is the only cinema in Brisbane I can afford to take my whole tribe of Family and associated ring ins. Not only do you get great value for money there is hot food, only available on the weekends. Be sure to stop at the ATM as this is a cash business and they sting you for using your pay pass, luckily there are a couple of cash machines on site. read more

Pretty haphazard affair here, but I guess that's because they weren't prepared for boxing day and the rush of people that would eventuate. Perhaps the lineup should have given them a clue. The one bloke they had calling out to people was doing a good job, but perhaps next Xmas the management should think about putting more people on as dealing with parents and children really is like herding cats. Having said that, its the first time I've had leg room and the prices are pretty good, so I'll be back. PS - parking is a breeze. read more

The cleaner and slightly more organised sister venue to Cineplex Southbank is significantly more cost effective than the other branded cinemas, especially for families. I would have given it a higher mark were it not for the long blonde hair in my wife's ice cream. I confirmed with the team at the service desk the ice creams are pre-made and dipped on site when I went to replace it. That aside I was impressed with the cleanliness of the theatre, we got what we wanted without any waiting and the seating was in one piece. read more

As mentioned in another cinema review, I love Cineplex. It's still independent as far as I know and it's great value for money, and on the whole I think it's a friendlier operation than a lot of the others. I love Victoria Point because it's the only Cineplex that has a Deluxe theaterette and you can go relax in there with food and drink at about a quarter of the price it will cost you at the gold place. I've come close to walkin gout of some other theatres because they've just go a bad smell; of people, popcorn and mustiness - no amount of spray is going to fix that; it needs more serious cleaning. Cineplex at victoria Point so far still smells pretty darn good. read more

Cineplex at Victoria Point is the ultimate value for money cinema experience. For just $6.50 - $8 you can see any of the latest blockbusters in plush, comfortable seats with adequate legroom on some of the largest screens in Queensland. The experience that Victoria Point offers costs around $18-$20 at other cinemas - so for those of us who are students, recent graduates or are only at the start of our careers and don't have money to throw around, this cinema offers an experience you can actually afford to enjoy weekly! The staff here are also really bubbly and efficient. I've never been left waiting for long, not even in the cafe which is always incredibly busy. The only issue with this cinema is that the value for money is so good that you don't even bother turning up for the 6pm Saturday night session of the latest blockbuster. I made this mistake twice for Transformers and again for Harry Potter and was stuck in a line that must have been about 200m long. Get in early, book your tickets online or see a late session because this cineplex is incredibly popular. read more

I can't praise Victoria Pt cineplex enough. My husband & I have travelled extensively all over the world & we both agree that these theatres are the best that we've ever seen anywhere. The prices are extrememly fair & the theatres themselves are extremely comfortable with heaps of leg room.....even for very tall people. When the movie is finished we usually stop at the cafe & enjoy a light snack & good coffee. When I tell people about Victoria Pt cinemas, the prices, comfort etc they're amazed. So nice that this family run business gives such good value for money & keeps the prices down as much as possible. GOOD ON YOU VICTORIA PT CINEPLEX !!! read more

Value for money with regards to ticket prices at the cineplex cinemas is far bigger than the other chain. Vic pt cinemas have great seating and the snacks and drinks are pretty good value too. This is always our pick for a cinema in the Redlands read more
