    Margarita!!
    Hannah V.

I had a lovely time here! We had a huge party of about 17 people and they did a great job serving us. We sat in the upstairs area and our waiter did a great job going up and down the stairs constantly. The place is very colorful and the chairs each have their own image on them. I enjoyed my margarita! It was big and I could taste the liquor but not so much it was killer. The frozen version was a bit sweeter but good as well (watch out for that brain-freeze). The restaurant was very accommodating to requests we had on some of the meals we ordered. I got the pollo supremo which I've never seen on any other Mexican restaurant. It's chicken and mushrooms in a cream sauce and it's is so so so good! Every time I come to Michigan I have to have it! The birria tacos looked great but sad they did not come with any consommé. The taco salad is also a good go to. Until next time Cinco de Mayo!!

Good Mexican food but overpriced in my opinion. The burrito was big but $18 is steep. First basket of chips and salsa was free, after that they charge you (according to the menu). Staff was friendly and attentive and ambience was laid back. Just not sure if I'd return based on prices alone.

Complimentary chips and very mild salsa, you can ask for their hotter salsa and blend.

3 stars because serving size for $10,99, and while I was overall disappointed i couldn't rate it a 2. Monday 8pm in the evening tried this restaurant. The interior is what you'd expect with brightly colored chairs, paintings on the wall.pretty spacious. The have quite a few menu items. Complimentary basket of chips and salsa, both rather underwhelming for flavor. I requested a hotter sauce, which I added to the first salsa. 12oz draft dos equios in chilled mug $4.49. Not many of the dishes come with rice and beans...if it isn't noted with the menu item, they're not included. Decided on the flautas because they cam with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream and guacomle. I asked the waiter for his recommendation between chicken or beef tips, he said chicken. The flautas were larger than what I've seen from other Mexican restaurants, they also had some sort of cheese sauce over them, which I thought took away from the crunchy flautas shell. There was a lot of shredded chicken in each, but no real taste.

    Carne Sonora skirt steak meal!

Solid Mexican food right here in my hometown! I usually go for fajitas or street tacos or even a spicy burrito now and then. Tonight I had the Carno Sonora and it was awesome! Well seasoned skirt steak with refereed beans and cactus. So yum! The service is always top notch - friendly, eager to help with selections and perfect timing with refills and tasty chips and salsa. Do yourself a favor and order something from their ESPECIALIDADES CINCO DE MAYO section, it's fantastic!

    Southwest chimichangas to-go

While this may not be my first pick if I want something healthy, it is definitely what comes to mind when I'm craving Mexican food. I love that it's right downtown Rockford, and I love the ambience of the space (when dine-in is an option). The ceilings in the dining area are high, making the space feel larger and brighter. The bar side has lower ceilings, and is a little quieter and more intimate. The upstairs space is wonderful for eating outside in the summer, or catering for larger groups. (I attended a rehearsal dinner in the upstairs a few years back and it was great!). I also adore the murals and décor of the restaurant. They are bright, feel traditional, and the murals depict scenes from places in Mexico. I'm possibly biased since many of the scenes are from the area I studied abroad. The menu is quite large, and I think they do a good job of offering some more traditional Mexican dishes with more Tex-Mex or Americanized versions. They also have things like cheeseburgers and fries, though I'm not sure why anyone would order those at a Mexican restaurant. If you get a chance to dine-in they have a good bar selection as well. There are fewer Mexican beers than I would expect, though I think their margaritas are more popular. The service is not usually very quick, but they are pleasant. If you aren't in a hurry, and don't mind taking some extra time to enjoy the company of the group you are with it's not a problem. If you know you are on a timeline make sure to mention that up front. We just ordered takeout for the first time, and I'm really glad we did! I really wanted their rice and beans, so we decided to try their take away (since there is no dine-in allowed). My husband and I both ordered the Southwest Chimichangas. One of my favorites! I wondered how the portions would be as take away since they are usually served on huge plates. I was not disappointed! The containers are large, still include 2 chimichangas (yay, leftovers!), and I really appreciate that the lettuce, tomatoes, and guacamole were packaged separately. They also included a bag of chips! Ordering online was very easy, you pay using PayPal, and our order was ready for pickup less than 15 minutes after ordering! I will definitely order take away from them again while dine-in is not allowed, and look forward to when we can visit again for dine-in.

House margarita was huge and tasty

AMBIANCE & CLEANLINESS: located in a little strip mall next to a gas station. Everything was clean and it was minimally decorated in Mexican decor (I actually like it being minimal in decor). They had one tv to watch (if that's your thing). HOSTESS & SERVER: The hostess was also our server and very nice. She answered any quester had and was attentive. FOOD: This is what we ordered.... Beef Chimichanga (lunch portion) -- Taste, was good in general, beef lacked seasoning/flavor. Size, average to most other places. Price $8.99 and it comes with rice, beans, and "salad" (see picture). Chicken Fajitas -- Taste, very good, chicken had nice flavor/seasoning. Size, decent amount of meat/veggies, severed with your choice of corn or flour tortillas (I chose traditional corn). Price $15.99 and it comes with rice, beans, and "salad". Beef enchiladas (lunch portion) -- Taste, was good. Price $8.99 and it comes with rice and beans. You also get free chips and salsa (always a positive at Mexican restaurants)!! OVERALL THOUGHTS: Delicious Mexican food. Flavor lacked a little bit in the rice (not really seasoned) and beef (husband said it wasn't very seasoned. Overall food and price was good, we left full. WOULD I RETURN? Yes but with caution! About an hour after eating here my husband ended up with a massive headache and I had some not so pleasant bathroom issues for the next two hours!

I mention this, because I was stunned that experience restauranter could open a new location with so many things wrong. When I called and asked if I could make a reservation, the person who answered didn't know, then someone nearby said yes, table for 4 reserved for 6:15pm on Friday. When we pulled into the parking lot there were several busses and smaller transportation vehicles taking much of the parking spaces. We saw a number of people leaving the building with bags and take away meals. We entered in the grocery/meat market entrance where the place was so packed with people in line to make purchases. We made our way thru the mass of people to the very small dining area. All the tables but 2 were filled with diners. We went to our table. We were given a bowl of tortilla chips and small dish of the oddest salsa. When the waitress came, we order soda pops, there's no alcohol, melted cheese with chorizo and more tortilla chips, and requested the Al pastor pork quesadilla, and since neither came with it sides of rice and beans. Stressing that we'd like it as fast as posdible, as one of our diners was really hungry. 25 minutes later the melted cheese appetizer was served, but no plates or utensils, and we asked where the quesadilla was, another 20 minutes later, finally the quesidilla came...still no utensils or plates, we asked about the rice and beans....5 minutes later really cold beans and rice handed to me...I informed the waitress of this, and she just looked perplexed...I asked for it to be warmed up....another 10 minutes rice and beans are back, not all that warm. We sat around waiting for our bill. When we finally caught the waitress attention she then informs us to pay at the cashier without a bill to take up. Weird. So, I had to wait in a long line of people ordering food to go so I could pay our bill. The food wasn't that good, but it could be due to how long it waited to be served from kitchen. On this Friday evening it was clear the establishment's priority was to serve the numerous people who came by the busses. Perhaps it would be better experience if the place only did a carry out service, al9ng with their grocery store.
