Happen, Inc was sponsoring the #backtoschool #northsideschoolbackpackgiveaway just a few blocks away from my house on #hoffnerstreet. We arrived just after 10:00 am for the 10 am to 2 pm event. It wasn't busy at all. The main gate entrance to this enclosed garden that I didn't even know existed was the required flow for the parents & children coming here. #Covid19 precautions were being taken. Facemasks and social distancing was promoted. We checked in at the registration table. Emails were asked for so they could keep people informed of future events. Most of their events used to be held at their storefront on #hamiltonavenue until the #covid19 pandemic. The friendly staff directed us to walk through the garden to the next table at the back entrance. My grandson and I got a little bit off of the main path but we made it to the next table. Here my grandson was able to pick out what color backpack he wanted! Green was his choice. He was excited to look inside it and we stopped on the sidewalk just down the street. He sat down and opened it up. To my surprise it was loaded with writing pads, paper, folders, crayons, a ruler and a zippered pouch with a lot of erasers and pencils and a pencil/crayon sharpener. My grandson was so happy! He sat there on the sidewalk sharpening the pencils. I was glad to see that the backpack was made from high quality materials. After this we headed to #jacobhoffnerpark for more fun. It was a great day! Until next time stay healthy & be kind to each other. #happeninc #northside #familytime #weekendfun #grandchildren

The pumpkin had already been emptied of it's guts, so all you had to do was draw and then carve your design!

There are SO many services offered here, to begin listing them almost seems like a futile pursuit! I went for job coaching and help with my resume. I have done this twice now, and both times, it has set me up in such a good position that I have gotten a job very shortly after my visit there! The atmosphere of the place is very relaxing, there is a cool little waterfall in the open area, and all of the classrooms and the prayer chapel are all very comfortable. That's a good thing if you find yourself in a position to need help. I would recommend anyone who needs just a little help to stop by here. You will be greeted warmly and will get to sit down with an assessor who will help you figure out what services you need. I'm thankful that I was able to get the help I needed and now that I am able to help others!

She had appointments and procedures scheduled every day for a week, and being able to stay so near the hospital was great! I was blown away with RMH! They have thought of and provided everything a family could need while away from home whether for a short term or a long term stay. The house can serve over 170 families, is clean and inviting, and has the happiest staff around. We were met with smiles and encouragement at every turn. The rooms are well outfitted and in good repair. There are activities throughout the day for both parents and children. We used the arts and crafts room, the toy room, the indoor playground, the outdoor playground, the exercise room, the library, and the laundry area. My granddaughter loved the therapy dogs that came to visit. We were served lunch and dinner each day and breads and cereals for breakfast. There was a large family kitchen area that was fully stocked if you wanted to cook your own meal. All of this was provided at no cost to the family. After experiencing this place with my family, I can tell you that I will be an avid supporter of RMH and the services provided to families with children needing medical attention. This is truly love in action.

The parish that the Centennial Barn is connected to is a small Catholic parish that really does try to help the needy while serving their congregation. They even take in older people who are not able to take care of themselves. The Centennial Barn is actually a ministry of the church, as it brings in money to help support the overall budget of the parish. However, you don't have to be a part of the church to rent it for a function or even a wedding. The inside of the barn is really cool! It has strung white lights all over the inside, as well as white trim and big red doors that give the barn a classy but country feel. There are bathrooms on the first floor, as well as the second. There are stairs to the second floor with several rooms off of the main level that provide spots to have people dancing or serve food. The backyard of the barn is open with some room outside to have a live band or even some dancing. There is a cemetery in the back of the property.... but it is not really that noticeable. It doesn't take away from the feel of the barn -- but it is something to note.
