Came on a Monday afternoon around 2pm after a recommendation from a friend. The seating was half full when we arrived but we were seated quickly. What we swallowed: *SAMOSA: Crispy shell and piping hot. A bit of kick but tasty. *BUTTER CHICKEN WITH RICE AND GARLIC NAAN: This was really delicious. Great flavors and the chicken was perfect. Great food. Competitive prices. The lamb Vindaloo is my favorite. (Medium spicy) Chicken Tika masala is a good bet for your dinner party. Their Korma is also excellent. Everyone loves the spinach paneer. I wasn't exactly crazy about the Naan, but it took a little car ride home, so I can understand. Now hold on!!!!! The samosas are actually to DIE for. Pick some up! 4 of us went here for the first time ever on a whim yesterday evening, and I can honestly say, we all agreed this was the best Indian food we have ever had. We are from the US, we have had Indian food from many different places in many states. This was the best we have ever had - everything was so fresh, so flavorful, so well made. The Samosa platter was out of this world, crispy crunchy samosa, paired with a lot of toppings, such as chickpeas. The best I have ever had, amaaaazing. Dinners were chicken Tikka masala, and vegetarian korma. Again, incredibly flavorful, cannot rave enough. As a side, we ordered the garlic naan - the best naan we have ever had. There must be many Winnipeg people who frequent this place, it was a revolving door of deliveries from this place, so you know it has to be good. No one would go back a second time if it wasn't good. +.5 for service This place is an absolute hit for a neighbourhood Indian restaurant, and I can probably even say it's better than Clay Oven. As someone who lives in Osborne, I don't venture out in East Kildonan often. However when I do, I make sure that I have a lunch stop here because of how good and affordable it is. I always go with the butter chicken with rice and naan bread. They do the butter chicken extremely well here, and the naan bread is an excellent complement to the curry. If you're not a rice fan, you can alternatively go with the butter chicken poutine, which is almost as good if you like fries. Warning: Shredded cheese, not cheese curds. Service is excellent here, however the food comes out very slow here. It's even slower whenever this place is busy, so do budget at least an hour at peak times. Regardless, for $12 this place fills you up for an entire day. That's something I'd never complain. read more

The food at Cilantros is great. If you're going to get naan bread make sure you get the cheese naan! The staff is great and food is ready in a seasonable time and is always fresh. I've never eaten inside but when picking orders up the restaurant seems clean. read more

We have been to this restaurant multiple times and the last 3 times we have noticed a significant decline in service and food. Today was the worst. We both ordered butter chicken poutine. Both arrived cold. Not even mildly warm. We had asked for a refill on our water and had to finally flag a waitress down and then still waited. When I asked for our plates to be remade with hot food she left our plates on the table. She came back several minutes later with one plate. My husband and I shared it. We felt even worse for the couple who were sitting across from us. They were on their lunch break and waited their entire lunch break for their food but had to get it to go. Even that was a massive hassle. When leaving the other couple and us tried to explain to the staff very politely that the service and food was substandard. They could not have cared less - I even asked her if she heard what I was saying and if she had heard what the previous couple had said. Again she could not have cared less. I could no longer recommend this place after our last few visits. read more

We've ordered from Cilantro's and have yet to be disappointed!! We have had their Tikka Masala which is awesome and one of our favourites!! We recently tried their pick up deal where you buy 2lbs fish pakora ($19.99?) and get 1lb free and a dozen veggie samosas ($9.99?), it fed us for days and I even ended up giving a pound to my parents and they were so impressed. read more

My whole family loves the food here! Ready when they say. Its not the cheapest but seems good quality. Never eaten in the restaurant though.

Great food and homey, attentive service- they clearly take great pride in their food and were eager for our feedback. We'll definitely be back. Having driven by this place for a while now, we weren't sure exactly what to expect- there is a disconnect between the bland grey appearance of the outside of the restaurant, and the sumptuous food inside. And, while there is not a lot of atmosphere in this repurposed Diner, the experience could easily be enhanced by more nuanced lighting and more comfortable, intimate seating - especially for dinner. If you can get past the old diner look (that's what this location previously was), you will be shocked at how incredible the food is here. We've literally tried every dish and couldn't find a thing that didn't leave us over stuffing our faces. The fish pakora is probably the most amazing menu item. Crunchy, clean and so fresh. Samosas served with chickpeas instead of just a bland lump of fried potato on your plate. If you're getting appetizers, one per person max if you're looking to order main dishes. The portions are just the right size and this is definitely the only Indian restaurant that won't leave you with racing stripes on your underpants. Even after eating way more than we should have, no achy guts or butts were had. The staff is super friendly and that just topped it all off. read more

I would give them 0 stars if I could. Absolutely awful customer service. We ordered three items. One of those was the paneer shashlik that included tomatoes. The sticker that comes on the tomato was still on the tomato in our meal! The entire sticker! It's a bright blue sticker on a red tomato. Clearly they are not washing (or even looking) at their produce. I called and spoke to the manager Anourag (sp). His solution was to offer us 20% off our next meal. Why would I eat again at a restaurant that clearly has issues washing their vegetables before using them? I said I want a refund. Now, in order to get this refund he states we need to drive down to the restaurant. He claimed that they cannot do a partial refund, if that is true- refund the whole order - I'm not asking for that, I only want the refund for the meal that was contaminated with a sticker- but if you can't or won't do it, you should refund the whole thing. Again, the food wasn't great, there was a sticker in it, and the customer service was sub par. I would not recommend. read more

My wife and I have been here before. It was very good then! We stopped in yesterday after work because it was a little chilly on a FRI night. WE were hoping to get a good dinner. Once again, we were not disappointed!! The Samosas are basically a meal in itself with the chickpeas and sauce ladled over top those pillows. Delicious! For the mains, we had butter chicken (chicken melts in your mouth) and aloo ghobi (great, as well). It is a very good place in East Kildonan and worth the trip. I had heard many great reviews about this place on social media for several months and finally decided to try it today. And all I can say is YUM! I'm fairly new to Indian cuisine so the waiter was extremely helpful in answering my questions about the menu. I had the lamb vindaloo and it had just enough spice for me, it wasn't overpowering but exploded with flavour. And OMG the cheesy naan bread ... to!Die!For! Delicious My daughter had the butter chicken and garlic naan and was as impressed with her meal as I was with mine. Lots of flavour but again not so spicy that your mouth is on fire for hours after. The restaurant was decently clean, it's small, but the service was very good, very efficient and attentive waiter, and the food was absolutely delicious! the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. the person i was with doesn't eat as much and asked if she could order something off of the kid's menu. the restaurant was eager to accommodate and make the adjustments that we asked for. we ordered the butter chicken, mild, and the lamb rogan josh, spicy. both were flavourful and satisfying. the only things i might complain about was the portion size and a couple pieces of my lamb were tough. i personally would have liked just a little more meat and some more rice, as i did not feel full after the meal. we also ordered the gulab jamun dessert. it's supposed to be sweet dumplings with pistachio but they just kind of seemed like doughnut holes with a sweet syrup. they were a little too sweet without any sort of pistachio flavour. overall, a nice restaurant with friendly staff and tasty food. would recommend and would definitely go back! read more

The food is good guys. 4 out of 5 forsure the east indian food is really good and the nan bread is homemade and flaky. It is much more fresh, flaky scrumptous and greater than the store bought. So much better. Please take a look at the pictures...I got the lamb vindaloo which was spot on. If you like some spice it is perfect. For someone who kind of shys away from spice it is not too bad at all. They make it accustomed to our tastebuds. Forsure would eat here again. Also the other guests you could hear them raving over over the food. Give this place a try. And the price is good 9.99 for my meal. The chicken platter 12.99. The most expensive dish was 13.99. Restaurant decor and servers are wonderful. The breakfasts were not hot or even warm. The waffles were not home made and no butter. The toasts were not evenly toasted. Don't like tater tots with breakfast and the omelette was quite small. When serving fruit, ensure there is no green left on and don't skimp. But, would like to return to see if they have gained some experience into these things. read more
