I guess I have never been into The Hippie House before. I haven't written a review for it prior and…read moreafter going in there it didn't seem familiar even though I remember it very well when I used to live in the area but I guess I passed it each time. So I guess I haven't been in every shop on 6th after all. The Hippie House has an impressive selection of glass pipes which I really enjoyed looking at and their gallery which was really impressive but that wasn't my purpose for coming in. I was looking for incense sticks and they indeed had some. It was brands I was not familiar with and that made me excited. The loose sticks was what I was looking at and they had a good selection of them with different fragrances and so I purchased a dozen of them. In addition I purchased a box of incense of a different brand and some Palo Santo, the incensed wood that you burn. I really get into burning incense lately and have a nice collection of it but try to burn the oldest first because it doesn't burn as well(depending on the brand) if it sits too long but still smells nice. I look forward to getting to my incensed purchase from The Hippie House and enjoying the variety of fragrances I purchased and take in their scents one stick at a time.

Awesome beer selection plus cigars, pipes, and accessories…read more For many years South Tacoma Pipe & Tobacco has carried a wide variety of products for all of your tobacco (and other) smoking needs. When they decided to expand into beer sales they went all out-- more than half the store was suddenly stocked with just about every import and microbrew you could think of. Recently they have expanded again, this time moving all of the 'pipe & tobacco' products into a separate shop next door. This has created room for even more beer in the main shop, including a rotating selection of taps where you can get your growlers filled ($12) or have a pint while you shop ($5). The staff here is very helpful and knowledgeable about their products. They can help you find the type of beer you're looking for, recommend something new, or even special order some specific varieties that they don't have in stock. Prices here aren't too bad-- most of the beers are sold as singles and though you might be able to find certain bottles cheaper on sale at the grocery store, but they can't compete with the variety here. I do think $5 for a pint is a bit excessive, especially considering that this is NOT a bar. Probably a better idea to ask for samples from the taps and then fill up a growler...
