So I went back last Saturday to ask for my money back for the Lotus lighter. I showed them the red one, which was back in the case for sale as I guessed it would be. After they determined that "No, it doesn't work" I looked around for another red lighter but they either didn't have a cutter or they were twice the price. I was told I could not have a refund--for a $50 lighter that I had owned for 1 week and had not been able to use even once. I can fill it up and hear the butane leaking out of it. In about 3 hours it will be empty. They reccomended that I return it to the manufacturer, and they would fix it or send me a new one. Great. But that means my cost to ship it, and paying Lotus $10 to ship it back. At this point I am so frustrated, I will just do that (making a $50 lighter a $70 lighter) and that way I will never have to step foot in this place again. read more

I have been here twice in my travels and both times I was very impressed with the selection, the pricing was decent but the customer service makes you feel like they are bothered by your presence. I don't get that. Cigars to me are about the good life and relaxing. I walk out of there feeling like I should have bought a bag of weed or something. Price and selection aren't really enough. If you are looking for the largest selection of cigars in 250 miles, the Cigar Affair is for you. CA has the largest walk-in humidor I've seen. It consists of three rooms and has literally hundreds of brands and thousands of smokes to choose from. The decor is exactly what you would expect of a cigar shop right down to the cigar store indian that sits out front. The "cigarden" is nice addition. It is a pergula covered patio with plenty of seating for your mid-summer night's smoke outing with friends. The prices are usually lower than everyone else around (though not by much). They even post competitor's prices on a board so you know what you're paying in comparison. The employees are actual smokers, so their advice and opinions are generally worth listening to if you aren't sure yourself. read more

I'm 8 months pregnant and I wanted to get my brother some really nice cigars that pair well with his favorite whiskey and red wine. My goal was to get in and out of the shop fast since I am pregnant, even though I happen to love the smell! I can't remember the guys name that helped me..(pregnancy brain) but he had white hair and was incredibly helpful. I am stunned that I am the first person to review this place -- and I live four hours away! I visit CA every time I visit the Toledo area, and never leave disappointed after a wonderful smoke. They have one of the widest selections I've seen in my travels throughout the Midwest, knowledgeable staff, and fair prices. Also, they have wireless for the business-oriented folk, such as myself -- can't beat catching up on email while puffing away on a fine cigar! This isn't a cigar store. It is THE cigar store! Passing through town last night from Grand Rapids MI and stayed over. Looked for smoking room and stumbled upon Cigar Affair. Called to see if they had a smoking room (it is the whole place and garden out back weather permitting). Friendly crowd. Counted18 people on a Wednesday night. I was visiting from out of town and always like to stop in and check out the local smoke shop. As a pipe smoker and only occasional cigar smoker, I'd say the selection was what you'd typically expect - very cigar forward with less attention paid to pipe smokers. This isn't a criticism - in fact, it's very much the rule rather than the exception these days and is to be expected. The square footage of the shop is small, but they've made great use of what they have - smoking area in the shop (and outside). Cigar folks will be very happy here - a nice selection of cigars and accessories; pipe folks that are used to a smaller presence in the modern smoke shop will be happy to find a small (but respectable) selection of pipes, accessories and tinned tobacco; the selection of bulk tobacco is actually impressive, though it does favor the aromatic smoker. The two gents working were both pleasant. One (I believe the owner) mentioned to me that he wasn't as up on the pipe tobacco market as he'd like to be, but based on our 5 minute conversation, it seems to me that he knows at least as much about the pipe world as 3/4 of the shop owners I've met. To sum up: Cigar smokers should really dig this place. Pipe smokers may not be blown away, but won't be disappointed as it meets all reasonable expectations for this day in age. When I'm back in the area, I absolutely plan to visit them again. If I were a local, I'd almost definitely be a regular. read more

As a tobacco pipe smoker, and only an occasional cigar smoker, I can say that this company doesn't cater to the pipe guys very much. Their website shows pictures of actual tinned pipe tobaccos from several companies, but all they really have when you go there is jarred tutti frutti aromatic type tobaccos that I suspect is from Lane, Altadis, etc. The difference between those tobaccos to a pipe smoker, is comparable to the difference between a Nat Sherman cigar, and a black and mild or swisher sweet. Part of the problem is they are knowledgeable about cigars and not so much about pipes, or pipe tobaccos. So if your a cigar guy, pretty nice store. If your a pipe smoker, don't bother. read more

As an occasional cigar smoker I like to sit back and enjoy a quiet atmosphere with good company. The establishment is tucked in to the quiet uptown Maumee area. It is a reasonably cozy, smaller space with a wide variety of cigars and merch. The parking can be somewhat inconvenient as it is limited but that goes for all smaller towns. The place is clean, well kept and the prices are reasonable. The staff are a bunch of old timers who know their stuff when it comes to cigars. Really, my only complaint about this place is the fact that they have random pics hanging on the walls that are close to the backs of their chairs. Since the store has hardwood floors, the chairs move back every time you sit on one. When my fiance sat on the one leather chair it accidentally cracked the glass in the picture frame of one of the pics. The clerk had the audacity to ask for $5 to buy a new frame. Sure, my fiance broke the glass, on accident, but why put a pic directly behind a chair in the first place. This whole incident left a bad taste in my mouth and we will not be back to visit again. read more

This was by far the best experience I've had in a cigar shop. The man working was so nice and very professional. He helped us find exactly what we wanted and had some great deals to offer! We left with two cigars, a cigar holder, and four cigar boxes for around $12. You can't beat the service and the prices were definitely nothing to complain about! read more

I'm always interested to see different cigar stores. Based on the excellent virtual tour they have on their website, the Cigar Affair was high on my list. While visiting my fiancée in Columbus over Christmas we decided to take a road trip from Columbus. What makes this shop stand apart for me are all the little touches. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable without being overbearing. In addition to the leather chair seating areas and TV's they also have a dining table sized table in case you want to do some office/home work, or if you just don't feel like trying to finagle your magazine and cigar at the same time. As you enter the humidor, there is an ashtray conveniently located just outside the door in case you just happen to already have a smoke in your hand (which we did). The humidor is large and well stocked, but the thing that impressed me the most was the very clear & professional signage indicating where each brand was located. I can't tell you how annoying it is to walk into an unknown humidor and have to squint at the boxes and bands trying to figure out where the heck your favorite brand is lurking. They have a standard selection of cigar accessories (lighters, cutters & such) and a larger selection of pipes and tobacco than I'm used to seeing. Some guy on yelp negatively reviewed the bathroom here. Frankly every cigar shop bathroom I've visited appears to be a supply closet with a toilet so this was no big surprise to me. I can say however that I didn't feel I had to stand to pee. A nice touch is the little tray, disposable cups and mouthwash offered. Although it did not directly impact me I have to note that I was really impressed with the little price bands on each cigar. Each cigar had its own band with the price, which is not unusual, but these were all imprinted with "Cigar Affair". I think the instant advertising was genius. We were there for about three hours enjoying smokes and watching the football game. As we left, both gentlemen working in the store wished us well and thanked us for our business. So few people think to thank someone for their business and it sure does make an impression. I cannot wait to go back and we probably will more often than a two hour drive should permit. read more
