Buyers, Please Be Careful and Ask for and Check Your Receipts with the Exact Price and Sale Tax!…read more
I strongly encourage customers to check their receipts carefully, including the product price and sales tax, before leaving the store.
When I checked my receipt, I noticed that the amount appeared to have been manually entered rather than generated by the system. This raised concerns for me about whether I was being charged the actual product price plus the applicable sales tax.
Please do not assume that a price is correct simply because the item has been scanned. Check your receipt carefully to confirm that the amount charged matches the advertised price, if applicable, plus the appropriate sales tax. In my experience, after the item was scanned, an amount was manually entered, which left me uncertain about how the final charge was calculated. I encourage customers to review their receipts and, if they notice something manually entered or have questions about the price, politely ask the cashier for an explanation before leaving the store. Check your receipt to verify the amount charged and make sure it matches the advertised price, if applicable, plus shows the correct tax.
Make sure your receipt shows price of item and sale tax as well. I noticed the cashier manually entered something after scanning the item, ask for clarification about how the price was calculated.
I also noticed that prices at this store seemed significantly higher than those at other stores. Furthermore, if you look at the google reviews, you may notice something unusual: the ratings appear to be either one star or five stars, with no ratings in between. What particularly caught my attention was that the five-star reviews appeared later, following the earlier negative reviews. Also, many of the five-star reviews come from profiles that have only written one review and that is for this place. I find this pattern unusual and believe customers may want to look at the review history before deciding where to shop. I cannot say why this pattern exists, but it certainly caught my attention.
Unfortunately, by doing this, the store has lost a customer who was planning to purchase from it almost every day. Had the pricing been transparent and the transaction handled in a way that inspired confidence, the owner could have gained a regular customer, much more profit and my continued business.
Honesty is always the best policy. Generally speaking and as a general advice to all businesses, trying to make a little extra money without a detailed receipt, transparency or without clearly explaining prices can cost a business far more in the long run. Treating customers fairly, charging accurate prices, and being transparent are much better ways to build trust, retain loyal customers, and attract new ones and gain more profit much more easily in the long term with peace and less stress.
I am sharing these observations as constructive feedback for the store and as a reminder to fellow customers to pay attention to their receipts and prices. In general, a business can earn much more through honesty and customer loyalty than by trying to collect a little extra here and there.
Please check your receipt before leaving the store. Check for accurate price of the item plus tax. Fair pricing and honesty benefit everyone!
