Asco, asco, asco. I wish I could write this review in Spanish but for my own sanity and peace of mind I will write it in English.
Made a reservation a week in advance to visit Ciena for breakfast/brunch. Their menu appeared on the healthier side.
The space is minimal yet stuffy. Pretty busy for a Friday 9ish "morning" ... A quien madruga dios lo ayuda. Lo se.
A lot of businessmen having meeting, teams meeting, families eating, friends eating and couples eating. A lot of well, a lot of different diners. Ok, cool not the problem. Aside from that loud table in the corner and the girl who demands to be heard by LITERALLY being the loudest in the room I mean restaurant.
Again. Asco (gross).
Ok the food.
I asked our young server for his recommendations, after our exchange of words I went with the molletes because they were described to be on "lighter side" my a** on the lighter side. They were heavy as can be the brioche/carb portion was so thick and dense you would think it's masa. Except it wasn't.
Sadness man. The top of the mollete surrrrrrrrre was served with "lighter veggies/toppings".
I was so grossed out by the presentation. Almost offended... it made me immediately dislike the place.
But hey you wanted the minimal aesthetic vibes to take you back to the mid-century in the middle of Condesa?!? And, instead you ended up with stuffy vibes.
Your menu/philosophy is literally executed in one dish: your molletes "wanna be light but literally dense and stuffy"
I would continue to entertain you with my humorous words about my dining experience at CIENA but truly it's not worth it. I don't live in Mexico City, I don't plan to go back to CIENA. Good luck to you if you decide to check it out. read more
