Church? Most likely it will be gelato but while you're at it pacing your way through the narrow main street of shops, stop into Fanny Bazar. It's a typical gift shop but one with hand crafted ceramics. The saucers and cups are glossed with lovely rich shades. I couldn't carry them home in my suitcase but did have space for a magnet. The shopkeeper, who is also the ceramic artist, is really nice!

Having a place in town for a couple weeks, I was happily surprised on my first visit as to how reasonable the grocery prices are. The main reason is that the locals shop here too and having the advantage of it being a co-op, the prices of everything are kept reasonably low. The dry goods, fresh meats, cheeses, local produce are all top notch. Open everyday, but closed between 1100 and 1600.

They had some nice Italian made items but the suede bag was around 275 euros (around $310 us dollars, tax included) and the clothes were unfortunately made for Italian women meaning not as "Americanly" sized. While there were still things I could wear, nothing really caught my fancy (that fit!) until I tried the Italian leather heel platform clogs. The clogs were unique and beautiful, and since I learned that's all I could wear for heels on these cobbly, uneven streets I just had to buy a pair. The earrings had an artisanal quality that were slightly unique so I had to buy a pair of those, too. The entire purchase was around 100 euros or $110 US dollars which seemed a bit pricey considering these type of shoes would be on a better sale in the US this time of year. But would I find the same Italian quality at home? I think not. Unfortunately for me, as soon as I left the shop I realized how much the clogs hurt the balls of my feet. I wanted to return them but since it wasn't exactly Nordstrom I decided to suck it up and wear them. The sales lady was really kind, and I knew they had a shop in Milan, the one major Italian city I purposely avoided since time is of the essence. In the end, the shop didn't have too much to offer for me, but I was happy that I found such a cute boutique right by my hotel, and I hope that I can enjoy my purchases for years to come!

Unless you like carrying bricks up so many flights. Building 49 has many flights of stairs as well, but leads you up to the roof overlooking the ocean. Unobstructed! There are several rooftop locations you can go to. I encountered some Sunday there's who genuinely hate bathing suit's LOL :-) you get a 10% off coupon for the restaurant where you check in, but the restaurant isn't very big so seats are limited, be mindful of the time when you are hungry. There is air-conditioning, TV, no refrigerator, but who wants to carry food around when you can just find from the multiple restaurants and vendors along the Piazza. If you have hiked hear from any of the other locations on the trail my sincere kudos. It is quite a journey. Make sure you check the news or with the local tourist agency, or the hotel to see if there are any mud slides that may alter your path. There's nothing like looking out your window, hearing the church bells, the ocean, and the people below. There are musicians constantly playing in the piazza that providing an ambience that is genuinely unforgettable!
