I visited the doggie park before it was actually opened but why not. When I came the first time my pup (a new rescue, Mr Cooper) was flying around having a good time so I knew this would be an awesome park. This time around, I brought both my pups, and again, it was not so full, which, for me, is good. I like the fact that it's clean in this park so this doggie park has been great for people to get to know one another and the park itself lends itself to friendliness, which is nice. There are receptacles for you to clean up if your dog has an accident so lets be kind and clean up is my motto. They have a few benches for people to sit while their dogs frolic around with the other dogs so it is again, a nice feature to see. One of the nice things to the doggie park is that they built a few stair climbing boxes for dogs, and trust me, my pup used it. I am hoping the people take pride in this park as it is something that Southsider's rarely see, so this is a beautiful privilege for us to have. Let's keep it clean! Oh, and did I mention that they have separate spots for Big Dogs and small dogs, so this is perfection as my small dogs enjoy being safe. Please be mindful of the separation and please do not take your big dogs in with the smaller ones, even if they are friendly lets respect our 4 legged friends who do deserve not to be so nervous. I give this doggie park a 5 because if you don't know, doggie parks are very rare in this area and to get one that was recycled from an unused batting case, is amazing. This is what I love about my neighborhood, they ask and things happen! Remember, keep up with the clean up!

Right off, I have a statement to the press: this goofy-footed former skater hasn't skated in years,…read moreworried about my brittle bones potentially ending up outside my skin in a compound fracture, and after having broken a couple ribs from rollerblading too fast for conditions. I also wasn't too excited about a million-plus dollar skate park coming to my neighborhood. That having been said, I love watching the kids learn their tricks and seeing the professionals on the Dew Tour this past weekend. There's something about aficionados putting their noses to the grindstone (or ledge or rail) and working to achieve something that gives me hope for the future. It's nice that they have a place to grind, since they can be quite annoying in public places. And the kids are fit from all the exercise: no faces planted in front of cellphone screens here. Some people say they have no regrets in life: this is a minor one, but I would have loved to have lived near this place in my youth. My only other minor regret is that they don't have a bowl here, but it's not far to go to 34th Street & LSD and get stoked, watching someone catch some sick air after popping his first 180 off the rim of the bowl .

Earlier this year, I was unemployed with a lot of time on my hands. I had so much free time that I would just wander around my neighborhood aimlessly because it gave me something to do. One of my regular stops was the Logan Square Skate Park. It was fun to watch the kids do tricks and skate around. At times I felt like a creepy old lady surrounded by high school kids, but this park was family friendly so a few parents brought their little ones occasionally to skate around. Oh, who am I kidding...I still felt creepy but it was a nice distraction and it got me off my couch and out of my pajamas.

Located on 58th Street and Kostner near a school, this tranquil park hosts a playground, a baseball…read morefield, a tennis court, and a volley ball area. Nearby is the school's popular soccor field. A soaring airplane occasionally drops by. The mornings are full of walkers and joggers in small groups. The late afternoons and early evenings have families using the amenities of the park. Bikers and skate boarders get their exercise too. Most people are respectful by wear masks and keeping their distance. The trees in the park are amazing. Throughout the year the trees provide shade and shelter to the birds and squirrels. In the fall the trees change colors. This is a nice park to visit.

Fun in winter because of the hill. There's lots of places for doing tricks skateboarding and whatever. Because it's a ways from most things it can take longer getting to of course. It's located by the marina on Special Olympics Drive. This is also to the south of another park: the Gold Star Family Memorial Park. Located on the east side of the road, and it's kind of hidden. The most popular thing here is the sledding hill, open in winter. It's high up getting to the top, but it's still a gentle slope for a hill. There's also rails and stairs useful for turning skateboarding tricks when there's no snow. Fun place for outdoor activities. It's good for cold or hot weather. There's something here to get either skateboarding or snowboarding action any time of the year.

I moved here after looking for a place in Berwyn...only to have my real estate agent drive south of Pershing one day...and suddenly the lots were twice the size! Let's only look here I shouted. I found my house the next day. Forest View is pretty dang awesome. The previous owner of my house was the parks commissioner and it shows! The park on 46th street and Wenonah is lovely it has... -tennis courts -sand volley-ball -a running track -a playground -well manicured path -and more In the winter it even had a skating rink! The next best part? The Forest View Police Station faces the park! There will never be shenanigans in that park, that's for sure! Other notes about Forest View: -nice clean quiet neighborhood -free garbage and recycling pick-up -fabulous library -FV Police -FV Fire Dept. ...all this for 700 people, pretty impressive!

We have kids who ride scooters and skateboards. One of our kiddos is a fairly advanced scooter…read morerider who rides every day. We spend quite a bit of time driving our kiddos back and forth to various skate parks in the area. My son had been begging us to take him to the new Vernon Hills Skate Park, so we headed out on a beautiful sunny day. Getting to the park was a little tricky. For some reason we missed the turn. Aspen Drive is a little hidden if you don't look out for it. When in doubt, just turn around in the Vernon Hills Police Department parking lot ;-) The skate park is new and on the smaller side. For our kids, this was a little more on the beginner level. I don't recommend it for advanced riders. The rails and ledges are limited and it's pretty flat. But, it's so nice and new. The park district did a fantastic job. I have no doubt it will get used quite a bit. It's a great place to gather with friends! Take note: There is only a little shade with a couple of covered areas Tons of parking, and there is a Walgreens nearby for those wanting a snack. The nearby Sullivan Center is actually really nice. It was closed the day they went due to Covid19. Highly recommend for those starting out. Open dawn to dusk.
