It's the morning after a party and all I need is something hearty to fill my belly and make the uncomfortable feeling of a night of wine, beer and spirits a thing of the past.
Walking up Glebe Point Road, we're on the lookout for something special, we have requirements, (Perhaps it's only I that have the requirements, but am selfishly imposing those requirements on my breakfast partner.)
I'm looking for somewhere quiet, somewhere where you wouldn't use the term a 'hustly-bustly cafe' in a log-line about it. Somewhere not washed out with fluorescent lighting and the final requirement, somewhere with an outdoor area. It's a beautiful sunny day, who wants to be inside?
We finally come across Cibo which fills the requirements; it's quiet, the lighting is natural and there are seats available alfresco. Yes there is a baby at the cafe, but he's too busy getting hot chocolate all over himself to be crying and screaming and carrying on, so I let this slide.
I order the Eggs Benedict with Salmon. When it arrives I make a mental note that it's not as grandiose as some Salmon Benedict's I've had in the past, but I enjoy it all the same. The egg is cooked well and the salmon is delicious, albeit isn't the massive hangover banishing breakfast I had hoped for, but after a short digestive walk, I feel much more human. read more
