I ordered the lunch special for $11 and it was a huge portion!!! Such a great price as well. I had the pernil with rice and beans. It also came with plantains which were sweet & delicious. The pernil was cooked to perfection. My only complaint is I wish the beans were on the side instead of already in the bowl because it made the rice a little dry. Thank you for an affordable & delicous lunch!

Whenever I don't feel like cooking, I come to this place. They offer a variety of dishes to choose from. They serve cafeteria style.Everything is fresh, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The space is also great for large groups.

Very Clean, good extensive menu. Inside and outside tables. No alcoholic drinks, wich is very "wierd" for a dominican restaurant lol.

Nice neighborhood restaurant. Great selection of drinks and desserts. Several food options to choose from and fairly good pricing. Fried ribs were fairly dry but good flavor. Stewed ribs were very good and sauce paired perfectly with rice. Potato salad was good, thick. They have beef, chicken or cheese empanadas also. The outside seating is great and the rocks are a great way to avoid having bags flying everywhere (good for entertaining children also).

Great line up of Dominican food, and the food are high on the taste meter, and they taste fresh. The food is respectably comparable to (and some even better than) my familiar New Brunswick DR digs. Outdoor eating is quite empty (i.e., safe for pandemic dining) for a Saturday lunchtime. We tried the ceviche-y fish (tilapia?) with lemon over red bean rice, amazingly tasty chicken over yellow rice, and an order of dirty/fried seafood/meat mixed rice that are just superb. I also couldn't resist the blackberry and passion fruit mousse calling me so I gave in to trying both of them (and a flan while I was at it). You can almost inhale the taste of the fruits in them I daresay you shouldn't ever close a dinner here without having one of these! The issues I have "lie" with the incorrect menu and the inconsistent explanation of dish prices by the staff. I originally wanted to order the tilapia over the seafood rice, but once they put in the dirty rice in the container, then they told me that it cannot be mixed with the meat and the rice costs extra (in fact, it costs $10 per container by itself). Which is perhaps fine considering the density and quality of the content that would deem it a standalone rice dish, but I would appreciate knowing this fact ahead of time. Also, I was told that the tilapia costs $10 (one of the staff members pointed to me its $10 price on the menu line), but I ended up being charged $13 for it because of the addition of the rice. The other lunch item, such as the chicken with rice, is $8.50 (thankfully they didn't screw up this one). All the time the staff loudly consulted each other on the prices, especially the tilapia -- am I the first person in its history to order this item? And even after the drama, 2 out of 3 were *still* priced out incorrectly. All in all, it's a delicious gastronomical experience, but it's unfortunate that a restaurant with such potential has to be rated lower because of these pricing inconsistencies. Note: I made the mistake of not reading other yelpers' review before visiting. After my visit, I started reading them and noticed that many 1 or 2-star reviews were due to consumers feeling "deceived" by the staff on prices -- exactly the type of issue I experienced. I hope that the restaurant owner doesn't think that they can sustain a business by getting mere $1-$5 "profit" per dish from the confusion caused on their customers. If this is a true confusion in the ranks and not a "game" they play, they should get their ducks in a row, create a new menu that clearly outlines the pricing method, educate the staff on it until it's crystal clear, test it on some customers, revise and repeat until there are no more perception of this deceptive pricing left. That's my free advice -- you're welcome :-) For now, I give them the benefit of the doubt and attribute all this brouhaha to the lack of consistent education and management of the staff and stick to a 3-star. I hope that this will improve in the future. It's a shame otherwise.

Vegan Latino food AND amazing cheap prices?! My grandpa came off his flight from Puerto Rico and I took him here and he was like "OMG these beans" and finished everything. Very easy to order in Spanish or in English. I believe it's Dominican food and they killed it! Dominican food tastes very similar to Puerto Rican food and it's hard for me to get authentic food at good prices, especially in Bayonne. Best vegan options: -Beans, yellow rice -Avocado salad on the side -Amarillos/maduros = sweet plantains -Yuca with onions -My mini junk food = kola champagne Highly recommend for a local stop for great

We arrived at 12 only an hr after they opened and we were the only ones there. We didnt mind because we came to eat and when thats the agenda u dont need a crowd. Lol Our server was very nice and helpful with the menu. We decided on the garlic shrimp which came with a nice salad (with an outstanding house dressing), fried potato chips and veggies. We also got s pitcher of red sangria which was ok tasting. The garlic shrimp were delicious! A tad bit tough but not inedible at all. We also had yellow rice which was so flavorful!! The complimentary bread was a star on the table! It was the best fresh Portuguese bread i have had in a long time. I tried to ask the waiter where it was from but its delivered in. The meal was really good and filling with tons to take home. They also have some specials under $20 dollars so be sure to check them out. Downside is there is no parking lot so street parking is the agenda and on Broadway its all meters so be sure to have ur quarters ready! We really enjoyed our time at Mediterraneo! They also have spaces for private parties and a really nice outdoor space in the back!! We will def be back!!!

The about of money i spent was went to waste. I came to this conclusion bayonne nj has the worst hispanic food ever. Same crappy flavor. Im really pissed off. I over paid for food i only took two spoon full the sweet potato was so under cooked it got stuck i didnt panic i took a drink and thank god i threw up everything. Im furious. They have a staff that have no restaurant experience and it really shows they are all over the place. Poor food poor service never again ever will i go there this is the third time ive been there. First time it was crao second time pretty good third time tasted like crap and i almost choked.. extremely poorly unorganized . Very unprofessional service.. An extremely very expensive overpriced . I spent almost $50 and the food was shit. There's a place in Union City same exact food. It would've came out to about $18. If you really want Hispanic food go to El Unico in Union City on Park Avenue between 42nd and 43rd St. I recommend this place because it's cheap. It's 100 times better food than this dump. And the price of food is very extremely reasonable . It's a shame that union city really needs a good Hispanic restaurant other than Dominican Dominican Dominican if you're gonna put a Dominican restaurant make sure that you know how to cook Dominican food correctly and make it taste good not like this crap because you can go to Union City to a Dominican restaurant and they really have good Dominican food over here in Bayonne. It all tastes the same and all taste shit don't waste your time. One other thing if any hispanic that is in bayonne opened up in union city you would not survive between shit service shit food and the over priced shit you serve no way you guys would survive. You get away with this crap because people in bayonne really dont know any better . Union city is almost all hispanic you will never last in business. Please people take my advice go to union city for real hispanic food Great dominican Puerto rican and cuban and Peruvian food is in union city. Even Spaniard food las tapas restaurant in North Bergen close to 79th St., La Toppers restaurant is one of the finest Spaniard restaurants along with the ones in Newark stay away from Mail. The last time…read moreI ordered was back in January because I decided to take a break from ordering out for a while. Today I finally decided to order again, and I even made sure to place the order earlier in the day so everything would be prepared properly and I would receive the full order without any issues. Unfortunately, that turned out to be a big mistake. I ordered my usual combo roast pork, which clearly states on the menu that it comes with rice and beans. However, when I received my order, there were no beans included at all, and the portion of roast pork was extremely small--far less than what should be expected for a combo meal. It honestly looked like barely any pork was included. I'm really not sure how something like this happens, especially when the item is clearly listed as a combo that includes rice and beans. Those are basic components of the meal, and leaving them out completely while also providing such a small portion of the main item is very disappointing. As someone who has ordered from here many times before, this experience is frustrating and disappointing. I made sure to order earlier specifically to avoid issues like this, yet the order still arrived incorrect. For a paying customer, especially a returning one, this level of carelessness is unacceptable. I hope this can be addressed so other customers don't have the same experience.

I have been ordering from this place for at least 3 years now if not more , I place the SAME EXACT ORDER every single week at least once or twice a week and I even make the effort to speak Spanish since it's their home language in order to make it easy for them . So here we go , I called again for the 5 thousand time to place the same exact order and the woman on the phone seemed confused even tho I was talking to her in her native language , she out me on hold 3 times to take an one single order , obviously she had NO CLUE about the menu . Fine , I wait for the order and I get something completely different from what I usually order so I called them and explained what happened. The woman on the phone tells me she asked the chef and he sent me the order , so I explained to her that is NOT WHAT I ORDER EVERY WEEK . I even went as far to say they could come and get the food back since we are not eating and all she kept doing was telling me that's what the chef made . Duhhh that's what the chef made but it's not what I ordered . Making a long story short , she didn't offer to fix and send the correct order , she didn't offer me a discount or a credit towards a future order either . With that said sounds like nowadays they send you what the chef decides to cook or what the inexperienced person on the phone understands and not what you actually order . With that said they lost a loyal customer because I will certainly NOT ORDER FROM THERE AGAIN !!! Not to mention so rude on the phone tells. MEVER AGAIN .
