Tapaz is a relatively new player on the Bolton food scene, but is truly storming the review sites…read more People speak incredibly highly of it, and it's currently in the top #5 in Bolton on TripAdvisor. I've been meaning to try it for a fair while, and finally got chance recently. The building itself is one of Bolton's grand older buildings with high ceilings and arched windows, but when you step inside it's somewhat surprising. I think part of me expected a tapas bar to be more Spanish "themed"like other tapas venues I've visited, but the decor is a combination of bright simple modernity, and... budoir? Elegant rustic iron sconces and lamp shades give that touch of Spain, but the crushed purple velvet benches and snow leopard print chairs seem a bit of an odd choice! However, it's clean, functional, and welcoming. We are seated and given the menus by a friendly member of staff. We are happy to see that there is an "all you can eat" tapas option, which is always nice, so we opt for that! The menu is left with us so that we can choose from up to any 3 dishes at a time, but reorder as many times as we'd like. Instead of listing each of the tapas we ordered, I'll simply share the photos here on Yelp. The tapas came in good time, and every one of them was hot, fresh, and delicious. Special props go to some specific things we commented on, including the fantastic citrus taste that came with the Bacalao Frito (breaded white fish with tartare), the sheer tenderness of the Costillas de Cerdo (BBQ ribs), and the incredibly rich flavours of the Chorizo al Vino (Spanish spicy sausage in red onions and red wine). It also allowed us to try "Chicken Bastilla" for a first time, which is shredded chicken in a crispy pastry, but then topped with cinnamon and sugar! It's apparently a Moroccan staple, but this was our first time trying it, and although it was a very strange idea to get used to, it worked surprisingly well! Like a cross between the end of your dinner and the start of your dessert! The service is friendly and efficient without being intrusive, and the value is superb. Even if we didn't go for the 'all you can eat' option, the prices were great, with lunch specials also available. As we paid I managed to embarrass myself by messing up with the card payment machine and accidentally giving a 10p tip, making me look like the stingiest tipper on the face of the planet, but despite this, the staff member who took our payment didn't let any sort of reaction show on his face. Truly professional! I noticed this on the bill as I was walking out the door, and so turned and left a bit of a better tip in change at the bar. The one thing I will say is that I will be giving a much bigger and more deserved tip next time I visit, as I will most definitely be returning, and hopefully will have enough room to try a dessert! We can very much see how Tapaz has earned its praise! Muy bien! :)

You may well have seen in a lot of my reviews, Bolton gets somewhat of an easy ride, partly because…read moreI'm proud of my town but partly because I know where not to go. I hadn't been before, but honestly I don't know if I'd go back to Tapaz. It wasn't bad, so let me start by saying that! Inside, it's trendy and intimate and a good spot for a date night. They have a decent wine menu, though you can only order house red/white by the glass so if you're not planning on drinking lots you're limited for choice (minus points). Food wise, some of the dishes were great - the Chorizo De Vino was superb - potentially the best Chorizo dish I've had at a Tapas restaurant as I feel a lot of places over power the sauce or dressing with Chorizo - Tapaz didn't (plus points). The rest of the food left a bit to the imagination, not bad by any stretch, just average and average can't receive higher than 3 stars in my opinion. Calamari was decent, and the chicken dish (I've forgotten the name) was fairly good however the Patatas - both Bravas and Pesto - were way below the normal standard I'd expect. Tapaz is a decent restaurant, and with the competition surrounding it, probably the best of the bunch, but I think that goes more to showing the lack of good food in Bolton as appose to Tapaz's quality. Not bad, but not great.

It's looking increasingly unlikely that I'll be holidaying in Turkey this summer. To get over this…read moreunbearable disappointment (first world problems) I've been adamant in finding the best in Turkish cuisine Manchester has to offer. And boy have I found another gem for all fellow foodie Yelpers. Eccles isn't exactly on par with the city centre, Chorlton, Didsbury et al as a place foodies rush to in their droves. However, that might be changing very soon. Driving through Monton village felt more like cruising through the leafy suburbs of Prestbury than Eccles. Monton road is already littered with decent eateries such as Enoteca, Blind pig, Malt dog and Blacksticks amongst others. The addition of La Turka not so long ago adds considerable weight to the argument that this part of Manchester is fast becoming another foodie hub. After dining at La Turka I'll certainly rubber stamp that assertion. A friend of mine brought this place to my attention after I confessed my love of all food Turkish, so off we went having booked our table in advance. (I was told it's mega busy all week) The restaurant may not look very big from the outside but has over 100 covers and a car park at the back. The interior is very airy, spacious and carries a real holiday vibe (Always a hit with me) It was very busy as predicted but there was enough staff to keep things flowing smoothly. The kitchen was visible from our table and we could almost taste the delicious aromas. The attention to detail by the proprietors was reflected in the fact they spotted us as new diners and came over for a quick chat. The order to arrival time was exceptional but not as good as the food itself. Hands down the chicken livers were the best I've tried in a long time and the spiciness was perfectly complemented by our zesty second starter, Veggi stuffed mushrooms. The bread and yoghurt sauce served as a side was also fresh and delightful. What's more, the sweet chutney served with the livers was an innovative addition, I liked it. When ordering the mains, my decision was heavily influenced by the fact I was starving. A meat platter was swiftly ordered without much thought. As good as the other options probably were I was in no mood for experimentation and opted for a good old carnivorous protein fix. My friend ordered the seafood platter which probably won the aesthetically pleasing award, not that I cared. My plate of delicious meat may not have looked as good but it certainly tasted fantastic. The lamb chops were perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection. There was just enough crisp without too much burn and the meat was well cooked and just the right side of tender. The chicken and beef kofte were also divine as was the red sauce served with it. Perhaps the portion of rice could've been a tad more generous but the generosity of the meat portion meant I withheld anything resembling complaint. The seafood platter was no mug either, although I only tried the mussels (which were heavenly) I have it on good authority it was sensational. After the meat sweats had subsided we bravely ordered a Creme Brulee to share (Even though there was absolutely no room left in our respective well fed bellies) I had a few spoons and was very impressed but not surprised. It was a great way to end the evening. The only slight downside to the evening was that some of the staff weren't on their game and looked a little young and inexperienced. I'm certain that with time the management will amend this slight hiccup. The food and atmosphere however was absolutely brilliant, and I've bookmarked this place for sure. So should you! A mere 5 miles or so outside Manchester, the car journey took around 10 minutes from Deansgate. The 33 bus from near Hilton Deansgate takes around 30 minutes. Which means it's probably closer (If not he same distance) than the likes of Chorlton and Didsbury to get to. I highly recommend it! I shall be updating the review in the near future after my second visit. A great little innings from Monton for Manchester, bravo! As a side note, they're now open 9am to midnight serving breakfast outside in their brand new terrace. So as soon as summer arrives (It's nearly July, better late than never) I will be here sitting outside having Turkish breakfast pretending I'm in Istanbul! I'll also probably return to check out what this belly dancing night malarkey is all about on the weekend.

If the word of mouth reputation has to go for any records, this place should be amazing! But it's not Yes, it's easy to locate, good friendly people making sure of your time goes well till T***** the belly dancer undoes all the hard work done from the rest of the crew! When it comes to food, it's salty!! I guess they spend more on salt. Why not, it's cheap and adds flavour! You will agree it does exactly the opposite and makes it not palatable if you forget you already added salt once to the dish! The end result not a good starter!! You might think it was a mistake, but if the mains come with a salt lake!! Well you got to question if they have a salt company and sell it at the restaurant!! Don't worry the baklava did not have salt!! Hence the 2 stars If you want to see belly dancing, surely there are other places..... and not T!

What better way to celebrate than to gather 18 of your closest family and pile into a good restaurant where you're guaranteed some good grub and a large table to sit at? Eating from the fixed price menu, we were asked to send our menu choices before the meal, presumably so they could be prepared in the kitchen. Despite it being April, the fixed price menu online is labelled March, causing confusion amongst many of the party. Turns out the fixed price menu doesn't change that often, so why label it? I opted for the braised beef & chips followed by chocolate brownie. How yawn of me. None of the starters took my fancy - think things like garlic mushrooms, pate, and fish - and even the mains were a bit of a minefield. We were all asked to email our orders through and, when we got to the restaurant, there was an unexpected delay caused by Mr. Fat Olive only receiving 16 orders so he had only set the table for 16. Why not ring and double check? Who knows. Once we all got seated - not an easy feat with so many of you! - food came quickly and service was nice and smooth. Plates were put down full and taken away empty. My beef was nice and soft, served with great chips, but a distinct lack of vegetables; the bowl that came was predominantly cabbage with a piece or two of broccoli. My brownie, from what I can remember, was nice and gooey, probably not what I needed after wine and beef, but it still went down a treat. The atmosphere at Fat Olive is nice and relaxed, not too formal but still appropriate for big occassions.

It's usually a wonderful relaxed atmosphere and nice decor (not too cheesy etc). Would recommend to all for a special night out. And it's well handy to the town centre.
