This museum could be pretty good, but it needs work. The mannequins are frightful, and not in a…read moregood way. They either need to be replaced with new ones, or removed. A dress form would be better then those ghastly things. The signage needs improvement, preferably in multiple languages (or with pamphlets in multiple languages to accompany). Sometimes there was no sign at all (such as parts of the garden). Much of the time the signage was inadequate. For example, there was lots of information about the history of the inquisition (in Spanish only) and on the castles in the region (in both Spanish and English I think), but not much information about each of the torture devices which is (lets me honest) why we're here. The photos on the website are misleading, it looked nothing like that. It was far too expensive for what we got. We all walked away disappointed. Also, cash only.

Une autre date importante est la création en 1957 du festival de Carcassonne qui se déroule au mois de juillet. Tragédies, comédies, grandes oeuvres lyriques sont offertes au public toujours plus nombreux et toujours plus séduit par ce festival de plus en plus connu.

Great value for the low entry price…read more Lots of weapons with descriptions of what they are and how they were used and sometimes how they came about existing too. Everything was in great condition, easy to see. There are riddles throughout the museum, and a few things to interact with directly. They make great use of their space. I had a lovely time and would even return.

This is a well maintained castle with 3 km of ramparts. It dates back over 2,000 years and conjure…read morevisions of troubadours and knights. History buffs should probably take a tour, but I was more interested in walking the grounds. I took a one hour train ride from Toulouse. I recommend staying elsewhere and visiting the castle as the city itself is not a stand out culturally and architecturally. From the SNCF station it is about a one mile walk to the Narbonne Gate in the Old City. I used AllTrails to navigate the castle as it is large and it is hard to distinguish where you are otherewise. It took me 90 minutes to walk the circumference of the lower outer gates and the inner city. The castle is FREE but the ramparts are ticketed. Advice: Everyone told me the food is not good here so pack a lunch and eat at the walls or the park at the gate. Many restaurants in the city if you choose otherwise. Sunscreen if it is a sunny day. If you take the train, there are markets along the way even on Sun.

Walking on The rampas give you a nice view of the city. I watched a medieval fight. It took us a good 4 hours and I am pretty sure there is a lot more to see.
