This fabulous archaeological site comprises Bant's Carn, a Bronze Age burial mound, dating from…read morearound 2,000 BC; and an Iron Age Village, occupied from 300BC to around 700AD. Both are very well preserved and the location offers fabulous views across the Isles of Scilly archipelago. The burial mound is of the "entrance grave" type, a style typical of the Isles of Scilly. When excavated, it contained four piles of cremated human remains and some decorated pottery. The main chamber is large enough to enter and crouch in. The adjacent village shows several phases of building, with small groups of huts. Some of these were quite sophisticated "courtyard houses" with two or more huts built around a sheltered courtyard. Their preservation is excellent, with hearths, querns (stones for grinding corn), stone-lined drains, and stores or cupboards constructed within the thickness of the walls. Excavation shows the inhabitants had a relatively sophisticated lifestyle, raising cattle, sheep and pigs, catching fish and seabirds, and trading with the outside world - importing fine Samian and Rhenish pottery and glass beads. The site is best accessed by bicycle or on foot (it's a two-mile walk from Hugh Town) as there is limited road access nearby.

Located on the west side of the Lizard and probably the most photographed and painted location in Cornwall, the contrast between the cove's white sand beach and the dark red and green serpentine rock produces a breathtaking sight. There's a steep 15 minute walk down to the cove from the car park at the top of the cliff. At low tide you can explore the towering rocks stacks and the caves with names such as The Parlour and The Drawing Room. Located just above the beach is an eco-friendly café selling Cornish pasties, fresh sandwiches, baguettes, homemade cakes and cream teas along with beach goods. From Kynance there is a fantastic 2 mile scenic walk around the coast to Lizard Point, mainland UK's most southerly point. Kynance Cove is owned and looked after by the National Trust and is able to care and conserve areas like this thanks to their members, volunteers and donors.

Firstly there is a car park on top of the cliff that is NT & costs £4.50 if you are not a member. It's a short but steep walk down to the cove, an alternative is available which is longer & is the service track to the cafe. Once down to the beach there is a boulder field to negotiate before you reach the sand which can be absent when the tide is in so the cove is very tide dependant. However when it's out it's a fab place to spend the day, 2 small bays separated by a sand ridge punctuated by large rocks. There are a couple of sea caves to explore. Very popular so get there early to bag your spot when the tide goes out. worth a visit if on the lizard & tides are on your side.

First time visit after hearing the praises of Lanhydrock from my daughter for about 10 years…read more AND....not at all disappointed. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour, which took us about 2 hours. After this, we enjoyed the gardens upper/lower. Well laid out. The car park is approx 15-20 minute walk, mostly downhill, which means you've got an uphill struggle to get back. There is a "mini" taxi type service costing £1 per head each way, (well worth it), to the House. Car park charge to non-members is £3.00 all day, which is pretty good. The house is in good repair, and the history is very well recorded. Beware the Cafe.......as with most NT establishments it is franchised, extortionate and not good value for money....especially for eating and drinking in a shed...!! That aside, you will have a lovely day...
