Once we had located the venue for the party, we headed off towards teh town centre in search for food. I spotted Cinnamon close to our dance venue and dived in to park. Although we didn't have a reservation, we were seated quickly. They had made an effort with Christmas decorations but there was a slightly strange wall which appeared to be covered with tin foil We went with one of the waiter's suggestion - nawab tawa lamb as well as choosing chicken makhani and sheek kebab. We paired this with pilau rice and a puri The curries were wonderfully and expertly flavoured. The makhani was sweet but the fenugreek came through nicely. The lamb was a good contrast with more earthy flavours - I'm thinking cumin and/or coriander. The sheek kebab was also nice with a slight kick of chilli to liven up the tastebuds The only slight disappointment was my mango lassi which still had undissolved granules of sugar but the flavour was right This was an unexpected find and a bonus great start to our top evening of dancing. If we come back to this area to dance again, I'd be very happy to pop in here again for another meal

The interior has some traditional Nepalese wood carving as decoration but is otherwise indistinguishable from your average Indian restaurant. The menu mixes familiar Indian favourites (so bahji and pakora and the like as starters, and a range of curries as mains) with more distinctively spiced Nepalese dishes. My paneer tandoori starter had Nepalese spices (so less chilli heat and more fresh coriander) and my friend's Mo-mo dumplings looked more Chinese in style, except for the spicy dipping sauce. My vegetable Bhuna was fine but my friend's "Everest Chicken" was apparently outstanding. (Bear in mind the vegetarian choices tend to be Indian.) Service throughout was excellent. They cater for a fair number of parties from the nearby barracks (there were two on our visit), but their kitchen is clearly used to that, so it didn't affect our service at all. They also had a busy take-away service in operation. So, overall, a good choice to try a new cuisine, but with familiar Indian-style options, in South Farnborough.

There was even an aquarium set into the floor where you can literally walk on water - hope the fish aren't too distressed by this! The menu is extensive with quite a few unique dishes. The obligatory popaddoms and my mango lassi were top notch. They seemed to specialise in seafood with a wide range of unusual dishes including quite a lot of unique fishes imported from abroad. Unfortunately, the maachi birani wasn't available (we're always keen to try new dishes) and so, we settled on trout, which arrived whole. It was easy to fillet and was nicely complemented with a sauce of enough complexity to interest the palate but not overwhelm the delicate flavour of the fish We also had a ghost (lamb) kata masala, which had a nice sauce but the meat was a bit chewy and sinewy. There was also a slight off taste but my taste buds were still too green to be able to put a name to it. One thing was for sure, though - it lacked any kind of heat. So we sent it back to get it a bit spiced up. The waiter brought the dish back out a few minutes later. With a heaping of red chilli powder on top. I guess the esteemed chef thought that having us mix it in and eat it was tantamount to his, you know, actually cooking it correctly. We mixed it up and immediately it turned into a salmon pinky-red. It was a lovely colour for a shirt, but not quite something you'd expect to see in a main course. The chilli powder did absolutely nothing to the dish. I then pulled out a piece of paneer to dig into it. The staff are excellent, always happy to help and go out of their way to ensure you have a great time. The manager is always about to chat, he is very friendly and always has a smile on his face. My husband and I decided to try 2 different thalis. Both were delicious! One pork and one lamb, and we tried one thali with the buckwheat side instead of rice. O our first visit had papadums to start (£1 each) with pickles; vegetable samosa (£3.25) and vegetable momo dumplings (£3.75) to start. Both were very good and the dumplings in particular were a treat. Mains of Chicken Dhaniya Adhraki (with ginger) and a Vegetable Biryani were both good and the portions frankly huge, so we opted to have a doggy bag. On our second visit, we tried the Onion Bhaji and a Vegetable Dhansak, with mushroom pilau rice and a large "house" naan bread. Again, portions were large but the dishes were still well cooked, and we enjoyed the fact the dishes were not too fatty, which we have found in some Indian restaurants. Service was efficient and the food came quickly, and was much friendlier on our recent visit (hence another star). The total bill (adding in two pints of beer) both times came in around £38.50, excluding service, which was very reasonable.

Each dish uniquely flavored, deliciously prepared and ample servings. Service attentive but not intrusive. Too bad we're 6000 miles away - this would be a regular favorite. Kudos to the chef!
