Fun fact it was indeed my first AND second confirmatory search result. So obviously this place is a bit touristy and they have now expanded to 17 locations in CDMX. The churros were piping hot, crunchy, chewy, and delicious. We also had a lot of fun settling on what hot chocolate flavor we wanted to try. We went with the Especial, which had a bit of spice and we really liked. But it didn't really work for dipping (apparently Spanish is the play for the thickest and most dip-able varietal). Prices were pretty reasonable, about $5/$6 USD for a drink and 4 large churros. There's plenty of seating for an easy in-and-out, but it's not really a place meant to linger. It's more of an open-concept setup-covered, but still open to the outside air. We ordered the mini ice cream churro sandwiches (can't remember the exact name): two vanilla and one Fresca, which was basically strawberry. Maybe it was because we were hungry, but wow- they smacked. The vanilla paired with the churro was especially incredible. Since I felt like I still hadn't gotten the full churro experience I was craving in CDMX, I hopped back in line and ordered the classic churro. Let me tell you... this thing was HUGE. Basically three churros in one. It came out warm, perfectly crisp, and coated in the best cinnamon topping. You're asked if you want sugar or cinnamon sugar, and with a bit of a language barrier (they don't speak much English), I just said yes and ended up with half cinnamon, half sugar. We're talking minutes after they come out of their churro maker to your plate. I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to offer a package with arroz con leche or atole with churros. During my trip to Mexico City, TikTok brought me to Churrería El Moro. My first attempt had me waiting in a line around the block, so I came back the next day when the wait was much more reasonable. I tried the churros with their dipping sauces: condensed milk, Nutella, and guava. While the churros weren't as warm as I expected, the dipping sauces definitely helped--the condensed milk was my favorite. We opted to try the cinnamon sugar churros with a hazelnut dip and it was absolutely delicious. While they were very fresh, they weren't very warm but alas. We just had breakfast around the corner at Bonetta's and we were absolutely full, we swore we could not eat another bite, we said we probably wouldn't eat for the rest of the day... and here we walk right in front of el Moro and order the fresh us churro with dark chocolate dipping sauce. We all agreed that this was the freshest most flavorful and delicious pastry , ever.... I've got to be honest. As Instagramable as the Mercado Roma is, with its iconic signage, open air stalls and exposed brickwork, I'm sad to say we found it hard to locate a really wonderful food stall in this entire food hall. With one exception: Churrieria El Moro. This iconic churro shop somehow blends perfect aesthetics (I love their packaging and logo) with the best tasting, freshest churros I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. The churros we ordered here were warm, crisp on the outside, simple and absolutely delicious. We had to get the chocolate dipping sauce and it was thick, substantial, and the perfect compliment. It really doesn't get better than this. Skip the dry tacos and the chalky lattes at some of the other vendors, and march right back to Churreria El Moro, for the best food in Mercado Roma. The Churreira El Moro also has a much larger location in Roma Norte that is supposed to be gorgeous as well, and it ends up on everyones photos from the CDMX, so perhaps check that out as well. read more

We wanted some churros while we were in Mexico City, and Churrería El Moro seemed to be the place to get them, at least for American tourists dependent on English language sources. There appeared to be several locations in high-traffic areas--we passed the La Condesa shop on accident and ended up going to the one in Mercado Roma when it proved closer to where we had lunch. This El Moro branch was a stall in one corner of a hip, bustling market. There was a short line when we went on a Saturday afternoon, but it moved quickly, the staff polite and efficient. The menu was longer than I'd expected, with lots of choices for dips, etc., but we just got the most basic churros, rolled in cinnamon sugar. The smallest possible order was four churros for $27 pesos, or less than $1.50 in dollars. This was too many churros after a heavy lunch, but I see why it wouldn't be worth their while to sell two at a time for half that price. The churros were delicious, warm and fresh and beautifully airy with the light crisp of fried dough and the sparkly crunch of sugar. Under different circumstances, I see how one might inhale four of them in one sitting. If you're looking for a sweet snack in CDMX, I'd recommend finding the closest Churrería El Moro. read more

Mercado Roma is a cute spot that resembles Grand Central Market or Anaheim Packing District in LA/OC. Once you walk in, Churreria El Moro is the far back corner and they're cranking out these gigantic sized churros. I found it interesting as the guy poured the batter into this chamber that perfectly pushed out a long battered string of raw churro mix into an oil pit. He maneuvered the string to create several spirals and then lets it cook until he has to flip it over. Once thoroughly cooked, he brings it over to a aluminum tray and cut it to size. I love that you get to pick what you want your churros dipped in (granulated sugar or sugar with cinnamon). Every churro is extremely fresh and pipping hot which makes it just that more delicious. There are dipping sauces you can try; I recommend the chocolate (you won't regret it). read more

This is the location to go to. The other one I went to had a million mile long line that took forever, and no seats available ever. You've gotta go with the paquette. You get four (big) fresh churros, a dipping sauce (the sweetened condensed milk is the best) and a mug of hot chocolate in the variety of your choice. This location is much smaller, but is really inviting as the storefront is completely open to the sidewalk. Seeing the employees making fresh churros as you walk by will instantly lure you in. You can sit in one of the tables and people watch as you eat your tasty treat or take them to go. Staff is attentive and location is very clean. I am glad to see that El Moro is branching out and opening up different locations across CDMX! The best churros I have eaten. We had them with Mexican chocolate - also the best Mexican hot chocolate I have had (being from California, that is probably not difficult).
