It's been over 10 years since I last had Church's Chicken, and I finally gave it another try this past Sunday. Ordered ahead through their app (highly recommend--those discounts really help) and went to the West Lane spot to pick it up. Now, I'll be real--the area around this location is pretty sketchy. Lots of cops, people hanging around... it's not the kind of place I'd want to sit and dine in. Drive-thru is definitely the way to go. That said, this review is only about the food, not the location. The chicken? Still just as good as I remember--crispy golden on the outside, juicy and hot on the inside. The biscuits were buttery and soft, easily one of the best parts of the meal. The butter corn was creamy and tasty, and the gravy on the side was a nice touch. I grabbed the 12-piece family meal for about $40 using the app, and it was plenty of food for everyone. One thing to note: they don't take American Express, so make sure you have another card or cash handy. Between Popeye's, Jollibee, and Church's, I still lean Jollibee overall, but Church's definitely holds its own. If you're craving fried chicken and biscuits, this spot is worth it--just stick to drive-thru or go during the day. read more

I visited the Church's Chicken on Hammer Lane on Sunday night, July 19, and it was one of the worst experiences I've had. I arrived around 9:10 p.m. and ordered a 10-piece chicken only. I was told they were out of spicy chicken and only had original, also it would be a 15-20 minute wait. Since there were cars in front of me and behind me, I didn't really have much of a choice, so I placed my order anyway. After waiting about 10 minutes just to get to the window, I paid and was told to park out front and someone would bring my food out. Forty minutes went by with no update. I finally asked an employee bringing out orders if mine was ready. She responded, "It'll be 8 more minutes, because you know" and walked away. While I was waiting, other customers were also complaining that they'd been waiting close to an hour. How do you tell people it'll be 20 minutes and then have them waiting nearly an hour? Looking through other reviews, it seems like this isn't a one-time issue. What made it even more frustrating was that a customer who arrived about 10 minutes after me received her order before I did. I overheard an employee tell her they gave her extra food because of the long wait. Meanwhile, I waited around 50 minutes and received only what I paid for. How does that make any sense? The only thing I got was a quick "Sorry for the wait." An apology doesn't make up for consistently poor service, inaccurate wait times, and treating customers unfairly. If the kitchen is backed up, be honest about the wait so people can decide whether they want to stay or leave. They need to do better. read more

I am the only customer in the dinning area and I placed my order. Three people came after me and placed their order. They received their order and I am no still waiting for my 2pc combo 20 minutes later. They gave the okra I ordered to the next customer behind me. Lack of organization. The service has been good when we have come in the afternoon. Both times very nice and all our food is in the bags. Today ordered spicy tenders, spicy chicken sandwich, chicken nuggets/boneless wings hot honey lemon pepper, mashed potatoes and gravy, mac and cheese and free biscuits using the app. The chicken sandwich didn't taste spicy but it was good. The boneless wings/nuggets were very good crispy and served hot. Mac and cheese is creamy taste from a box but it's not bad for fast food mac and cheese. It's creamy and cheesy. I really like the mashed potatoes and gravy. Served pipping hot! Flavors are old school and tasty. The biscuits are my favorite. Wish they had some butter to serve with it. But it's already buttery and a lil hint of honey on top. Not dry and doesn't leave a waxy after taste. Not to be missed. Doesn't leave that nasty waxy after taste like the other place does. read more

I was born and raised in Texas and Church's what is your favorite 10. When we move to Stockton, I was very pleased to see Churches here in Stockton. Quality of the food is excellent and I always feel like it just got out of the fryer. Today I ordered the 10 piece chicken thighs and the large side of fried okra. It was fresh enough that when I got home, it was still fresh and hot. The server at the window was friendly and cheerful. This is my favorite fried chicken place in Stockton. read more

We don't live in the area but when we are in Stockton we would come because they were good. Very disappointed with the food I was given today, it has to be recooked chicken from yesterday. You can tell it's old from the picture I've posted. We have come here like 4xs now because it was very good and fresh the 1st time. Well we decided to give Churches Chicken another try after a long period of not eating there but once again a total waste of money. The 12 piece family meal was $56 with the two cups of jalapeño peppers (10 peppers). The chicken was in between original and crispy and we wanted original, the chicken had no taste and neither did the biscuits. I thought it was just me but my husband started complaining about the same thing and started that he never wanted to eat Churches chicken again. Called the corporate off, threaten them with lawsuite. Took the chicken back the next day. The manager argued me down and said their was nothing wrong with the items. I spent 14.00 dollar. He went to the back and came out with some more chicken and said, see nothing wrong. refused to give me a refund. handed me more chicken. They ended up getting the order wrong and had to refund my money to place the correct order only to realize they didn't even get it right the second time. I recently went to churches chicken on west lane Stockton. I was so disappointed, the skin was so dry and so was the chicken

I really enjoyed the food but the drive thru person charged an extra $5 on my bill which I suppose was a tip. In my opinion this is stealing but I didn't realize it until after I got home. I don't want anyone to lose their job but this is a dangerous behavior that this location is engaging in. Some people aren't as nice as me and just won't let them get away with it. The owner/manager needs to get involved to protect his business and the safety and wellbeing of his/her employees. read more

It sucks because I really wanted to love this place. I've gone here several times and it's always bad. The food is good most of the time. There was this one time when they didn't completely cook our chicken. The customer service is the absolute worst in Stockton. They act like giving you sauce with your food is against the law. Expect for them to take forever preparing your food and to probably be out of whatever it is you really wanted. And they refuse to answer the phone if you're looking to call ahead and inquire about whether or not they actually have what you want before you make the drive. Additionally, I'm all for everything black but the black girl always seems to have an attitude. She curses and uses profanity very loudly. None of this is a good look and I feel that a complete overhaul of the staff is in order. Update 12/9/18 This place is still bad. Ordered a real deal and asked for spicy but they gave me original. When I went back to have them fix it, they had an attitude and told me that it would be 15 minutes before the spicy was ready. I'd ordered it 20 minutes prior and my guess is that they didn't want to drop the spicy chicken so they decided to give me regular thinking that I wouldn't come back.
