We love our church, and we are very sad to be relocating to a different state soon. I have no idea what some of these people are talking about on here. My family loves it, my children love it. Pastor Judah is a New York Times best selling author AND pastor/communicator. Churchhome does great work in the community and I LOVE that pastor Judah is scripture teaching rather than soapbox preaching. My only qualm is that there is only one in-person service a month. I'm not in the finance department, but I think prioritizing more in-person services would be a good choice for Churchhome and community! WWJD read more

This is the church that Asked me to leave after I came out. It was named "city church" at the time. Not much has changed since the name change and being asked to leave sent me on a downward spiral I still haven't recovered from. Their "celebrity" pastor Judah Smith and Pastor Jude Fouquier. Left me with lasting damage causing me to almost take my life. The only "sin" I had committed was finally being honest about being gay. I think it's time churches like this are held accountable for giving advice to teens without any semblance of a counseling degree, all while making 100,000's of dollars if not more off the people who attend. read more

It's sad to me that this church is making the people who work there donate 10 percent of the money they make from working back to the church in this economy. When the pastor is driving a Mercedes g wagon and wearing 1000 dollar shoes it makes you wonder where all that donation money is going. It's run more like a business and less like a house of worship. If you make over 100k to preach the word of god are you doing it for god or yourself? It's crazy to me that someone who reads scripture somehow finds it morally right to become rich doing this. I have been going to this church from a few different locations for about 15 years. Judah is around my same age so was always in wonder when I first started coming that this young, hip, sports loving guy could be a pastor. But then I heard his messages, the way he delivers them and I truly believe God is speaking through him. He is that good. He is the best I have ever seen in my life in any church. He gets flack lately (usually from judgmental haters) that he has got too big and he preaches to celebrities. That is what happens when you are really, really great at anything you do. People take notice and more people flock to see/hear what you can do. Why is any of our lives any more or less important than a celebrities life?? They are people too. Just think that is opposite of what a Christian would do wanting Judah to keep it small (more to themselves) and not preach the Gospel and about God to anyone who wants to hear. The people are nice here. I always leave feeling better than when I came in. True, it does seem like a hip, fashion show around there sometimes but that's ok. People are trying to better themselves, help others and live a better life. Very positive. Lots of places to sit. Times are changing people. Technology is a tool that is WAYYY more prevalent than when it was the little location with Judah's dad. Get used to it and quit complaining. Be grateful. I love this church!! The pastor here is so relatable and really speaks from the heart. I've been to several churches in the Seattle/Bellevue/Kirkland area and this is the one I have found speaks to me. It's great that there are so many campuses you can choose to go to as well. From Belltown and U-district, to Lynnwood, and Kirkland, with service times to fit any schedule (8:30am-8pm), it's hard to come up with excuses not to go to church. This church may not be right for everyone - but it certainly deserves higher than the 3-star rating left here. Everyone needs to find what is right for them, but you should definitely give this church a shot. They don't have the free food and coffee to lure you in. That's not what they're about. The hook is the message, not the superficial. I can't say enough good stuff about this place. Thank you guys for making me want to be there on a Sunday, whichever campus I choose! read more

Not knowing a lot about the word and just beginning my journey in Christ I gave this church a go. I attended the downtown campus, at 1st it felt very welcoming, charmed by its large amount of people who greet you in the lobby but as I continued going and studying my word I've realized this church is all about money & image. The messages the pastor preach are totally not based off of biblical principles. Every week starting his sermons off talking about his kids & wife and idolizing his One and only favorite sports team the "Seahawks"..Not to mention the non-stop jokes he told through out the sermons was like being at a not so funny comedy show/rock concert. Never got to see the pastor other then on a screen, no alter call for prayer or to be saved, no elders in the church and very cliquish. This church is not a place of growth and if you attempt to even try to get involved, offer insight to programs or groups there is a lot of negative, competitive response's you get from the group leaders as they feel intimidated and let their jealousy and insecurities show. Very UnGodly principles, seems like more of a popularity contest then anything else. I am so grateful God showed me early in my journey that this church is not for me. The anointing he has on my life has no place at that church and he showed me early on THANK YOU JESUS! I will continue to pray for the brainwashed and new comers of this church that God shows them through unblinding eyes, pure hearts of discernments and felt by the Holy Spirit that this is in no way a place to grow spiritually! Anytime you have a pastor joking on screen about how great his and his wife's sex life is, going on lavish trips, always teaching prosperity and gained wealth through having faith RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN! If I could have given this church a zero I would have. Very superficial and fake, no outreach to the community just all about them! WARNING! Bias from member who grew up in this church from when the congregation was 5 years old and had just left Kelsey Creek back in 1998. There is an immense passion here and the teaching is very powerful...to a point. It is over the top on a regular basis. My dad was a wealthy man at the time we were going and was consistently hassled that God wanted him to "be a more cheerful giver." In every service there is a time when one of the associate pastors will talk about all the great things that will happen to you....if only you would give more. The 10% that is talked about in all scripture is what is required, they say, "but God wants you to give beyond that so that he can bless you." Sadly, I saw the flip side of that coin after friend of my dad's left the church because he and his wife were getting hounded to come to the marketplace ministries meetings and learn about "prosperity with a purpose". I understand that many will not understand and many have not experienced this. I am writing this review as a person that has been deep in this church and sadly seen where all the "cheerful giving" goes. read more

People complain that you can't talk to the pastor? EVERYONE wants to talk the pastor and he would be there for hours if he did, they have services every hour and a half, and preaching is emotionally draining when you're doing it 5 times a day across multiple campuses. People complain where the pastor spends his money? He has two books that are New York Times best sellers and is paid to do conferences across the nation to speak to all of America and spread the love of Jesus everywhere. He can spend his money as he pleases, the tithes and offerings are for the church as a whole. He isn't always there? Read what my second point was about the conferences and spreading the love of Jesus everywhere. This church is incredible; The church isn't a reflection of Judah, judah is a reflection of the church. Love, grace, mercy, acceptance, more love. The city church is an amazing place to find out more about God and get involved. If you feel left out or isolated? It's a big church I can see how you feel that way... But REACH OUT! If you go out of your way I promise you'll get to know great people who love Jesus and would love to connect with you. It ultimately comes down to are you there for the perfect situation that fits your every possible need? Or are you there for Jesus? i am in love with city church and appreciate pastor judah for being an open hearted leader, spiritual teacher and engaging comedian :). i appreciate the legacy that pastor judah and his wife have embraced from his father senior pastor wendall, who recently went to be with jesus, and not only stayed true to the original vision of the church, and expanded it to reach people all over the world. the music is uplifting, inspiring and encouraging! and the production keeps you engaged during the session. there is no pressure to be a perfect christian and the message i always walk away with is that god loves me just the way i am and that loving jesus is simple and definitely amazing. im so happy to know that i am not the only one who feels that having a relationship with jesus isn't complicated or requires "shoulds" and doesn't include blame or guilt. there was a time where i was a member of a church that treated its members like a cult and it was quite traumatizing for me...i left that church and for six years i prayed everyday for the lord to soften my heart so i could have a relationship with him again, and to also learn to trust the church. my prayers were finally answered the day i walked into the city church. i've been attending city church for 5 years now and don't see myself ever leaving. i've taken campaigns the church has done (jesus-is.org) overseas with me on my travels and have shared it with my friends and family. express your feelings on who you think jesus is by visiting the website. all feedback and comments are welcome, there is no good or bad. at the end of the day, the campaign gives you a glimpse into the church, allowing you to be who you are and voice your opinion without judgment. read more

They were amazing in the children's ministry with my child, my son has had a hard time finding a church he felt interested in. He had a large selection of activities to engage in and as I was watching the leadership, they actually interacted with him rather than babysitting which is not something you see in a lot of churches. I'm visiting family for the holidays and wanted to attend church. I have a great home church that I was nervous I'd be disappointed. I did a fair amount of research and came up with Churchome. I attended 2 services as a visitor and I felt really welcome, the message delivered was received. If you want a traditional message delivered in monotone from a guy in a robe or a navy suit, this is not your place. The pastor is relatable, energetic and strives to entertain. He preaches from the New Testament and quotes scripture directly. Some reviews here seemed to say otherwise. I get a Billy Graham, Joel O kinda vibe with the conviction of the message and the delivery. He speaks with a southern accent but hails from Portland Oregon - but it works. Other reviewers note his comedic style and its true. He kind of has this Mockumentary style where he sidebars his internal thoughts. He's personable and Relatable. The band is really good. The facilities are state of the art. The crowd is diverse. I was happy to see many races represented. Dress code seems to be casual comfort. Financial support is encouraged for those who regularly attend but that is to be expected. Parking super easy. Great vibe. Worth checking out. read more

I've tried going here a few times but it is not my style. It is not culturally diverse in the least bit. No average brotha's like me walking around. You can feel a little lost and overwhelmed . Not knowing anyone in the church, I was smiled and greeted nicely at the door, and then a couple handshakes before I sat down. I sat rather close to the front. I had an idea maybe I was sit in somebody's important spot because every 30 secs this man , one of Judah's friends kept looking at me with no smile. It was very awkward. It was pretty overwhelming and an awkward experience. I really did not get the "homey" vibe I was hoping to feel. I did not see the pastor either time. I heard someone say he was vacation at Orlando Studios and on a PGA tour with Bubba Watson and his best friend. What that has to do with church. I am not sure. Maybe I will try Timberlake next time, see if the pastor attends that church. read more

I've been going here for years. Was always a bit skeptical of new churches but their message really reached out to me in some of my low times. They talk so much about grace and how God will love you no matter your decisions or circumstances. I have since moved an hour away and have tried numerous churches but nothing does it for me the way this church did. So now I drive the 45 min every Sunday to The City Church in Kirkland to experience God and his good word. I hope I can encourage you to just come and see what God says to you while you sit and listen to the teaching and experience the worship. God loves you no matter who you are, what you've done and where you are at in life. When you listen closely to what Pastor Judah, Pastor Colby, or whichever pastor is speaking that day you'll hear love, you'll hear the Bible translated in a way that will help your everyday life and you'll leave wanting more of God and more of a desire to open your bible during the week. Yes it's a large church, but don't let people intimidate you, go to our next step bar and you'll instantly make a friend or have someone to pray with you, giving you that encouragement you need to face your week ahead, they do this bc they know God and know that He is an encourager and loves YOU! Pastor Judah is awesome, very inspiring message delivered in brilliant fashion. it's easy to stay engaged in his sermon all the time. It might take some stepping up on your part to get involved in their biggest community (the young professionals that ranges from late 20s to 40s), as they simply can't notice you out of all the people who attend this church. Once you get involved, the YP community will fill up your calendar as there are always something going on, and you'll never stop meeting new people, which at one point can become too much, and you can get burned out from a lot of drama and variety of pleasant/unpleasant people (welcome to the real world, my friend). If you are a very social person wanting to mingle all the time, this church has "the community" for you. If you are someone who's less social and care more about just a few quality relationships and constant growth in life, this is still a great church, just don't get too involved in the YP community. read more

I thought that it was way too trendy & a lot like a fashion show. I wasn't real comfortable with seeing the pastor in 'skinny' jeans & a punk hair cut. The Church was run more like back when one went to the movies & there was a cartoon feature before the main movie was to debut. As one Yelper said it was like Comedy Central, in my opinion I thought it was more like the old show Kids say the darndest things. For me it felt worse than getting a tooth pulled. All these people are about is money & fashion. Disgusting! It must be nice for Pastor J. to spend, spend, on clothes, sporting events, and Disneyworld vacations when out in the real world the good majority don't even have a roof over their heads or any food to put on the table. Shame on you City Church! Don't know what kind of Jesus you worship but the one I know cares about everyone & not ones with a grip of bills or the latest designer fashion. There are a few pastors who have been there for decades who should've been shown the door years ago but they allow them to stay on for some reason, even with many in the congregation complaining of recurring issues. read more

I have gone here all my life and love Pastor Judah as well as all the other pastors at the church. It is very modern and is accepting of you no matter who you are. It isn't too formal or strict and it feels like a second family to me. Pastor Judah is one of my favorite people ever! He makes me smile just by being around him. I love City Church! I have been attending now for about 3 years and have started to get more involved. I went on my first missions trip with City Church and learned and experienced the high level of leadership our church has and also the level of humility. This goes for all our locations. City Church is one of the most generous churches I have ever experienced. The generosity is in regards to every part of life... time, mentorship, fellowship, financial and any other category you can fit generosity into. I have also never experienced such genuinely kind and friendly bunch of people. Every time I encounter someone in this building they shine a smile at me with a huge hello. Not only is the congregation awesome but our Pastor Judah is the best of the best. I had the privilege of meeting people on the opposite side of the globe and to my surprise they knew about Judah and said they listened to him online. Every time I go to a different state everyone raves about how amazing Judah is and how his sermons have impacted their lives positively. Judah knows the Word and its so essential to have a leader that knows and lives the Word of God but can also relate to the now and be relevant. Funny helps and boy is he funny. I also love the Pastors at our other locations. They can preach and are very funny too. City Church has been a blessing in my life and I am grateful God placed me here. Its home for me. It has brought me to another level of intimacy with the Lord and the culture has helped transform me into a more kind person. first time here this sunday. the music was very good, i was impressed with the talent level and the ability of the musicians there. the minister had a nice sense of humor and was able to get his message across while holding your attention. i took away a star because even though the minister and music was great the people are not very friendly here. i did talk to the ministers wife, though she never mentioned she was the pastors wife at the time. she was super nice and helpful. read more
