So to be honest to only reason I stepped in here was because of the other yelp review! It was on the way back from Graham's and its worth it. The place is quaint and cozy and bright. They have a tour if you want it. They offer tastings depending on what you want to try and some munchies to go along with it. The servers are very nice and very attentive. The place was packed! I think this place may be a little know secret... The tastings were good. Opted with the white(aged in small barrels), ruby and tawny. Tasty!! Also the munchie platter had almonds, cheese, and crackers. Good pairings. And the server will tell you what goes with what. Also if you're going on a lot of tours- this place has no problem splitting a tasting with multiple people! It was great and prefect for just a taste!!

We just happened to run into this place while sightseeing and browsing at little shops for…read moresouvenirs to take home. I wanted to get some great ports and received lots of requests from friends for port wines from Portugal too. My needs were met and more. Soares has so many port wines (Taylor's, Barros, Graham's, Dow's, etc.) and many others to select from. I was able to score a Barros Colheita 2010 at a very reasonable price. The staff were so nice and friendly. They explained how port wines are made and the differences in the harvest, colors and processes. For example, Colheita is the specific harvest of that year. No mixing of grapes. Tawny Port is aged for much longer than its Ruby counterpart. It's also aged using oak barrels, which gives it a very different flavor profile (smooth and refined) and is brown in color. Ruby port is fuller and more fruity. I just love port wines especially if they're made in Portugal.

When all the Port cellars were booked on a Saturday afternoon, I found respite in this place. Right…read moreoutside of Ribeira Square, it was empty and the perfect spot for my first foray into Port. I did the premium Port tasting and received a great introduction into these wines, which I'd never tried and did not know much about. I was also the only one there, which was fantastic. And, they have snacks. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. And, they carry my all-time favorite Portuguese wine, the Conde Villar Vinho Verde Rosé. I nearly cried because I love this wine so much. They don't ship to the states, unfortunately, so I bought as much as I could carry. If you are looking to do a Port tasting without walking across the river or just want a great place to buy some wines, I highly recommend Garrafeira Soares.

This was probably our 10th Port wine tour since we have been in Porto and the Douro valley on this…read moretrip and is definitely my favorite one to date. First off, Graham is arguably one of the top/best Port producers which is a prime consideration to going on this tour. Although not the oldest Port wine producer it still has a long and illustrious history with a very interesting Family storyline to tell which this winery does a very good job of doing and adds a nice element to the tour experience. Relative to the tour itself, it starts in a large waiting area that has pictures and placards that give you a nice overview of their history which I found very interesting. From there you move into a small theater to watch a 10. minute film that is focused on the modern operation where the focus is vineyard, land and people related that gives you an appreciation of the Graham operation and how the workers who have long relationship with the company and are viewed as part of Grahams extended family. Once the film ends the tour moves into the barrel room which is flat out amazing. It is very large and impressive where I have not seen another Barrel room that really compares to this and was the highlight of this tour and to be honest with you the highlight of my vacation in Porto. While in the barrel room the tour goes over the types of Ports Grahams make, unique things they do in making their wines and more in depth discussion surrounding the land, grapes they use, the harvest and eventual bottling. fairly thorough and definitely informative and entertaining if you are into wine as I am and have a desire to learn about wine in general. lastly you end up in the tasting room sampling some of their wines where the selection we had in our flight did not disappoint Overall a very very good experience and one that should be at the very top of your list of things to see and do while in Porto. You will absolutely not be disappointed.

It's a historic vibe in the cellar with a beautiful tasting room and history area in the main hall. The tasting was great and we got to try a few different styles paired with some small bites which was very fun especially having the pastel de Nata as one of the courses. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
