If you find yourself with need of an Osteopath I would have no hesitation in recommending Daniel…read more From start to finish the process is easy, honest and open and he will strive to help you feel better but will not make any promises that he can't keep. You can book in online via his easy booking tool. He offers free initial consultations where he will chat through options and give you an honest appraisal as to whether he thinks he can help you or not. Appointments are 30 mins but if he has no appointment after you he regularly works on to try and help you more and there is no extra charge. He creates a relaxed atmosphere where you can chat about just about any topic under the sun whilst he does the essential work that needs done to help you. If you are used to a really formal setting you may be taken by surprise, but for me the chilled atmosphere is a huge plus. His aim is to get rid of you (feeling better of course). Not a good business plan, but great for patients as you know he ain't just in it to keep you coming back for ever and ever like you hear from some other practitioners who always want to have you booked in again. Daniel Gerber..... osteopath, healing genius and all round good guy. If your in pain just now, you should give him a try.

No one came close until I walked into Daniel Gerber's treatment room. He knew exactly where the problem was almost without input from me and after only two sessions my pain began to disappear and my posture straightened noticeably. After a short period of regular appointments I moved onto maintenance sessions as and when I feel the need- sometimes several months apart. Back pain is a horrible experience - it makes you irritable and miserable, easily distracted and generally less able to cope with the day to day. Not any more! This man has changed my life!

Let's face it, nobody wants to visit the doctors. Having had arthritis since the age of four…read morethough, I'm a bit of a connoisseur when it comes to local practices. This is the latest one, and probably one of my favourites. Obviously they look after me and provide me with all kinds of important medical care, but this place gets three things right that so many others have failed on. Firstly, making an appointment. As wonderful as the NHS is, there will always have to be concessions made in trying to provide care for everyone. I've known first hand the frustrations local practices feel in trying to provide adequate care for their patients while dealing with strict staff and budget constraints. The mark of a good surgery to me is how well the staff deal with these frustrations. The doctors, nurses and receptionists of the Buckingham Terrace Medical Practice deal with this admirably, and whilst I'm sometimes faced with delays when trying to fit an appointment around my working life, they always go the extra mile to make sure I'm seen and sorted in as quick a time as possible. Secondly, they do a great job at monitoring patients, and if I get too lax or too busy with my life, they always provide a prompt and friendly reminder that I really should go see my doctor. Knowing I'm being looked after in such a fashion is a huge weight off my mind. Finally, the website is an excellent resource, with all the information you could need about the practice and it's various clinics, and a helpful staff on hand should you have further queries. Ordering repeat prescriptions via the website is also a lovely touch in an increasingly time sensitive world.

Having moved to Glasgow back in February, one of the first pieces of business to take care of was…read moreregistering with a GP. I went for this one, simply because it was the closest to my flat. It seems I lucked out! In a medical practice, there are a few things I look for; polite, friendly staff, ease of making appointments, availability of appointments and good one-to-one patient care. They get all of these right. With an ongoing health issue, I've been to the doctor more in the last seven months than I have in the previous ten years. So the fact that the staff are friendly and flexible, the GPs do their best to forge a relationship with their patients, it's a few minutes walk from my flat and they offer handy things like repeat prescriptions online and text reminders of appointments, Buckingham Terrace offers everything you'd want in a modern, patient-focused practice. I only have good things to say!

I too am a patient registered at this practice and I wish I wasn't. The standard of patient…read moreservice is appalling. I tried to make an appointment over a week in advance and was told I couldn't and that I should phone on the day I wanted the appointment. Now I have tried this before and on the day I was told there were no appointments to be had, there were no free appointments with any of the doctors. I then tried a different tactic and asked for an appointment 2 1/2 weeks in advance only to be told they couldn't book an appointment that far in advance!!!! I was tearing my hair out, I mean really and truly what does one have to do to get an appointment to see a doctor for goodness sake. I too once waited nearly 4 weeks for an appointment and at that time I had a very bad chest infection. Thankfully I was able to obtain antibotics elsewhere and really that was just luck, what if I had had to wait 4 weeks without them...would it have been more cost efficient and better for me had I had to be hospitalised should my chest infection have become something more serious? I do NOT think so. This practice is so badly managed that I tried to "escape" and register with another practice only to be told that I couldn't. Apparently if you are trying to register with another practice in the same catchment area you can't, you can only do this if you are coming from a different catchment area. Things are so bad I am thinking of getting a new addrress just to get registered with another practice so I can see a doctor. It is utterly scandalous! My recommendation is DO NOT REGISTER WITH THIS PRACTICE!!!!!

I am in two minds about how to rate this place as it has some good points and a few bad points...I…read moream no longer registered with this practice and previously to joining I had been at a really shoddy practice so it was as if ANYTHING was better than that place so I was quite happy with Townhead HC to begin with... I have to say this review is for the GP service at Townhead HC NOT the dentistry, podiatry or other services that are provided here. I actually trained & worked briefly in the dentistry department and if I was to review them they'd get 5 stars, hands down. Lovely people & great service they're providing. But unfortunately the GP side is another matter...Townhead HC is split into a few differents 'wings' and I cannot remember exactly which wing my GP was based but as you walk into the centre if you head to the right hand side that was my GP reception & waiting room. Based within the Glasgow Royal Infirmary near the Alexandra Parade/maternity entrance & shopping concourse THC is quite handy for transport to and from (there is a bus stop right outside) but unfortunately they're opening times weren't that handy; pretty much 9-5pm. Maybe that has changed now, I hope so for the patients sake. One of the worst things I found with THC was trying to phone to make an appointment - this has to be one of the most frustrating phone-lines ever! Firstly you are given options for which service you require then eventually you are put through to reception to await a receptionist to take your call & give you an appointment...well, I must've spent HOURS over the years registered here waiting on the phone, trying to get through...so,so frustrating! Many times I would be waiting (phone ringing) and I would just get cut off! I swear the receptionists had a cut-off button so that if the phones rang for too long they could just shut them up with a quick press of a button. Great. Just what you need when you're ill and trying to phone up for an appointment! *sigh* Then when you DO eventually manage to get through some of the receptionists (well 2 in particular) are quite snappy with you & not the most pleasant of people. Turns out in the flesh they're (sometimes) even worse! Hmph. Quite often I have been offended or annoyed by them upon visiting the practice ~ they are also quite rude to people who cannot speak very good English (a lot of non-English speaking patients come here) which used to horrify me when I was sitting waiting to be seen (the waiting room sits directly opposite/beside the reception), don't get me wrong some people they had to deal with were just idiots but those that were just not used to speaking English very well or weren't used to a Glaswegian accent were often treated appallingly. I must add not ALL the receptionists were like this; just a couple in particular. The other thing I must add about trying to make an appointment here is please do not expect to get seen quickly! On occasions I had to wait nearly 3 weeks to get seen! Yes, THREE WEEKS. Ridiculous. It is (obviously) a very busy practice. Be aware of this. Doctor-wise it really was hit-or-miss in my experience...one of the nicest, kindest most caring doctors I have ever seen used to work here but unfortunately for myself (and other patients) she left to work elsewhere. I was truly sad to see her go. She was brilliant with me after my Dad passed away and on other occasions when I really needed help & reassurance. A lot of doctors don't give you the time of day (I realise they don't HAVE the time to give these days...) so it was so nice to have such a caring doctor as herself. I still miss her. The nurses here are most of the time very nice too, although my last encounter with one of them wasn't a great one...I was basically asked 'so why are you here exactly?!' and then I was told to leave & make another appointment at a later date. Ridiculous! Waste of time for both of us. I was not happy to say the least. But they provide a good service for non-urgent appointments also Well Woman, Phlebotomy, Antenatal, BP, Diabetes and other such clinics are held by themselves. The waiting room is a good size & the magazines are usually only a year or so out of date (compared to 2 or 3 years) so not terrible. Only one unisex toilet but there is a lift for disabled access.
