I have to buy the odd pair of heavily discounted designer jeans Harvey in the Harvey Nics sale but they are always way too long (and I'm 5'7) so I take them to Unicorn who for under a tenner take the bottom hem off shorten the leg and put the bottom hem back on - and you'd never know the difference. Very clever. Warning though - unless things have changed - it's cash or cheque only so have your readies at the ready, as it were.

For dry cleaning, I brought in a delicate silk dress that I was nervous about entrusting to just anyone. Whitelyes treated it with the utmost care, and it came back looking absolutely pristine - the colors were vibrant, and the fabric felt incredibly soft. They even managed to get out a stubborn stain that I thought was permanent! The alterations service was equally impressive. I had a pair of trousers that needed to be shortened, and the tailor did a fantastic job. The new hemline was perfect, and the stitching was so precise that it looked like they came that way. I was also amazed at how quickly they completed the alterations; I had expected to wait much longer.
