In planning and executing a wedding, we assumed that some things may not go as expected. This is inevitable. My husband and I are giving this five-star review not because our experience with Church Ranch Event Center was without complication, but rather because their staff handled a challenging situation concerning our wedding with grace, compassion, understanding, and follow-through. My husband and I are a same sex couple, that were seeking a rustic-chic event space and Church Ranch's space was absolutely perfect. The outdoor area was a beautiful and unique space for our fall wedding, of 100 guests. After we paid the initial deposit to Church Ranch, we received their planning packet and were surprised that all of the language in the packet was customized for an opposite sex wedding, without options to make selections that would apply for a same-sex couples (the language referenced "brides", "maid of honor," "bridesmaids", and traditions that would not apply or be relevant to same-sex couples). This concerned us and we edited the form, as much as we could, to reflect our intentions for a same-sex wedding with persons of different genders in both wedding parties. We then went to our first wedding planning session and they had chairs setup for us, with a wrapped "bride" ribbon on one, and "groom" on the other. On the day of the rehearsal, the event planner came in and asked for the "bridal party" to stand on one side of the room. I interrupted her, stating that there was no bride and that there were two grooms. After this third incident, we called Church Ranch, less than 24 hours before our wedding was to occur, and spoke with Lillian about our concerns. Lillian handled this difficult conversation with grace, understanding, and regret for our experience. She was not defensive for one moment and took immediate responsibility, stating that Church Ranch should and would do more training with event staff on handling same-sex weddings. That night, she contacted all of the people who would be helping at our wedding to remind them of our same-sex wedding the next day and to discuss the appropriate language to use/steps to take to ensure that the event was executed appropriately. She also indicated that Church Ranch had changed their planning forms to be inclusive for same-sex weddings, based on some comments that we previously included on our wedding planning form. The next day, on the day of our wedding, the event planner apologized to me, in person, for the mishap during the rehearsal. Her apology was genuine and she was committed to ensuring that we had the memorable, magical, and special day that we had been planning. The event planner was very understanding, expressed remorse, was not defensive, and did everything in her power to make our special day what we had hoped for. Ultimately, on the day of our wedding, everything was executed perfectly. The venue was beautiful, our guests were so impressed, and we felt that Church Ranch created an event that honored our love and commitment, as a same-sex male couple. We all make mistakes. Including Church Ranch. Their willingness to recognize when they make a mistake, not be defensive, and take actual steps to make the situation right, is uniquely admirable. It is refreshing to see a buisness, like Church Ranch, listening to feedback, being open to how weddings are evolving, and being willing to make changes in their operations to make sure that their customers have an amazing experience on their special day. read more

Breathtaking, perfect for weddings!! My niece got married at this lovely location and I was so pleased with how well manicured and gorgeous this place was! So beautiful. They opted for a springtime wedding, so if you know Colorado you know that chances of afternoon storms are pretty likely in the spring. All was set for a gorgeous outdoor wedding until the sky turned black and a loud booming storm showed up the same time that all of us guests showed up. Bummer! However, as if it was planned that way, the staff at Church Ranch quickly rearranged the reception area into a room for the wedding service. So, it wasn't ideal, but you could still see the amazing gardens through the windows (rain pouring down) proving that even if you choose to have your wedding or event INSIDE, it still is very lovely and special. Fortunately, the rain cleared up for stunning garden pictures of the bride, groom, friends and family after the ceremony. Gorgeous walkways, trickling creek, little bridges and full, healthy trees and other greenery are all around the grounds. Her pictures turned out absolutely beautiful, some of the best looking wedding photos I've ever seen... couldn't ask for a prettier setting, or a prettier bride for that matter! I think the only complaint that I have is the parking... it's all gravel and so if you are wearing heels it could potentially be a disaster! Bring some flats if you are wearing your best heels. Church Ranch Event Center is one of the best wedding venues in the Denver/Boulder area, hands down. The staff is so friendly, professional, goes above and beyond... there are not enough adjectives to express our gratitude for the fantastic work and effort this team put in to make our wedding absolutely perfect. Mitchell and his entire team are so organized and passionate about what they do. There was no stone left unturned, no detail left without discussion, everyone is thorough and kind. All of the planning and conversations they set up in the beginning really pays off to create the most seamless and memorable possible. They want to make sure that everything you need happens, and everything that you want is accommodated. Out of all the venues we looked at, we decided on CREC in the end because of the staff. And when it came to the day-of, it was the staff that made everything happen and reaffirmed our decision to go with CREC for our wedding day. It ended up raining during our ceremony time, and the staff already had both ceremony set up's inside and out, and gave us the ultimate control over what we did. They were willing to do whatever it took to make everything absolutely perfect. We ended up having it inside, and for those that are concerned about missing out on getting married in their outdoor ceremony space, trust me, the indoor set up is equally as beautiful (and intimate!!). During the day of, EVERYTHING is on time. My husband and I work in logistics and events for a living, and never in our careers have we ever seen an event run so smoothly and on schedule. Mind you, nothing felt rushed, we were able to enjoy every moment, questions were brought to us discretely and professionally when they needed our input, and we were able to relax knowing that all the details were being managed by CREC staff and the vendors we hired to work with them. Our coordinator, Victoria, was phenomenal. She was so fun to work with and made sure we were at ease throughout the whole process and answered our (many) questions from beginning to end. This venue is extremely transparent about their pricing, contracts, add-on's and more. Again, as folks that work with events frequently, the level of transparency and up-frontness (if that's even a word) was next to none. There were no surprise charges, we did not feel pressured to purchase anything we didn't want, and for all of the help we received from beginning to end, the full price of this venue is unlike anywhere else we have ever looked or worked at. This team works their butts off to make YOU happy, content and excited about your big day. The grounds are beautifully maintained and makes for AMAZING photos. Although the venue is very "rustic," it is such a blank canvas and so beautiful, you are able to pull off more formal weddings without breaking a sweat. So I am strictly reviewing this facility as a guest from events and weddings. I have been here on two different occasions and have loved the facility. I have never had to work with the owners/managers to have an event here so I can't speak into this portion at all. I do think this facility is absolutely beautiful and has a very versatile property to allow for different visions and needs of any event. I had even spoken to a friend that happened to have just been there for a funeral memorial. The facility is large and the wedding I attended was about 370 guests. I know of another room that was not opened that would have to allowed for more guests. However even with more guests we would have had plenty of room, it is quite spacious. The outside bar area and patio seating was a very nice spot for cocktails before the reception, the open bar during the reception was really nice offering some detailed drinks and not just beer and wine (both with and without alcohol). I really enjoy this facility and would recommend it to anyone wanting to have an event here (especially a wedding), but I can't speak into price, sorry. The only stinker or hang-up is the parking, it is super tight and I got blocked in by another car and couldn't leave until I found the person blocking me in so I could leave. read more

We just had our wedding here a couple weeks ago. We received nothing but great compliments. The venue is beautiful inside and out. It is great for large weddings as well as more intimate weddings. However, it is a little too big if you plan on having a small wedding with less than 50 people. The grounds outside were so beautiful! There is green everywhere and many places for photo opportunities. The only reason I have 4 stars instead of 5 was because the event was a little rushed. Our ceremony started almost 10 minutes early which is fine but there were a lot of people who had not arrived yet. That's the only thing. It was just a little rushed. Thanks! read more

Before I share my experience, I want to share my concerns that I had in the beginning. When my wife told me that this was the venue we were going to get married at, I was relieved. No more venue shopping! What a relief! Then i did some research. A wedding is a large investment, and so I went online to read reviews. Getting other peoples perspectives is helpful in most cases. So I started with yelp, and ended with google. I read them all. If you're like me, just check the date of this post and I'll save you some time. A lot of the complaints were from many years ago. Believe me when I tell you not to waste your time on those. The ones that concerned me were: the staff wasn't dressed well, paying more than what was agreed upon, a tip jar on the bar and paying gratuity yourself for an open bar, and feeling rushed. I only addressed the staff attire and tip jar with our event manager. The other two concerns I felt I could address if it became an issue on the day of. Now on to our experience. We met with the Wedding Guru, Mitchell, over a year prior to the big day. I saw his name in a lot of 5 star reviews. Wedding Guru is a well deserved title. He is an incredible man. He is the first face, the first contact we had with this place. And he is good. After our meeting with him, we felt confident that we chose the right place. Then we were handed down to a young lady whose name escapes my head. She was very pleasant, but it was short lived because she departed from Church Ranch. We were a little nervous about this, but then we met with our new coordinator. Her name was Jesi. And she was aaaaaaamazing. At one of our meetings, my wife was explaining what her vision was for something, I can't really recall what...(my attention span for things like that is zero. I was probably number crunching at the time.) I looked over at Jesi and it looked like she was taking notes, but then she flipped over her ipad and she flippin made a picture on it of what my wife was describing!!! We were like, "Get out of here, what the heck!!!" Blew our minds. Anyways, fast forward a few phone calls and emails, the day is approaching. This is where one of my concerns were addressed. Price change. We went with the caterer, photography/video, and Dj they worked with. Yes, the price changed. But it changed from us adding on extra people. That's it. My wife put together all the center pieces along with a lot of extra things. She emailed it over to Jesi, and we got on the phone with both Jesi and Mitchell. They expressed some concern because it was a pretty long list. But we assured them that everything is mapped out and had directions on them. Mitchell did an excellent job reassuring my bridezilla that even though this may throw a wrench in their operation, him and his staff were going to make sure to do their best to make it happen. My wife, (Britney, I'm going to start using our names. My name is Justin. If you made it this far, now you know who we are lolz) told them she would show up in the mid morning or early afternoon to help answer any questions on setting up the decor. And you know something? She did not. I also said I would show up with all of the stuff by 9am...it was more like 11. Mitchell, Jesi, and our host Victoria. Absolute rock stars! The staff there was incredible. Everything was set up. The reception hall was stunning. I couldn't believe they were able to do it all. The ceremony area was outside and it was breathtaking. If you choose this venue, get the aspen alter. It is worth every penny. I would have even paid more for it. Mitchell was there, him and Jesi were attaching boutineers to all the guys and young boys in our wedding. Victoria was scrambling everyone together, it was a rather large wedding party. As I was watching this all I couldn't help but think "Man...did I pay these people enough..I'm probably going to get hit with another bill after the wedding." I just could not believe the level of service that Jesi, Victoria, and Mitchell were providing. The ceremony was gorgeous. It was cloudy with a nice cool breeze. Right before Britney walked down the isle, the clouds parted and a ray of sunlight beamed down upon us. It was so frickin magical! The reception was amazing as well. I did see a tip jar on the bar. But you know what? It didn't matter at all. Because people like to tip, and those bar tenders were awesome! And when you receive excellent service, you tip! I almost feel like everyone working at the venue should have been walking around with tip jars with us just throwing tips at them! Today is two days after our wedding. Britney and I never go online and write reviews, but we had such an amazing wedding. Mitchell, Jesi, Victoria, and all the vendors and staff deserve recognition for their excellent service, attention to detail, and their ability to go far and beyond what we expected. My husband and I had searched for months for our venue. We really wanted a venue with a mountain feel but was hoping we wouldn't have to drive too far from our home in Broomfield. (That, and mountain venues are pretty pricey!) When we toured the venue with Mitchell, he was nothing but warm and welcoming. He answered all of our questions, and we loved how engaged he was in being able to determine what our vision was for our wedding. He recommended a catering team for us, Deshebrado, whose food was divine. Everyone raved about the food- something you don't always hear about at weddings. He and the team here at CREC also discussed with us what our budget was and how we would be able to accomplish our vision within that budget. From there, we planned with Madi and Jesi and these two were absolutely phenomenal. They asked questions that helped us plan our day, and were always available when we ourselves had questions. I had this surprise for my husband where I wanted to project a video montage from our past 4 years together before I walked down the aisle. This was a difficult ask, and I knew going into it that it might not be a possibility. However, Jesi worked with me for months trying to get this accomplished. She came up with the idea of projecting the video on a piece of fabric that would drop down after my MOH walked down the aisle, and the fabric would be brushed aside afterwards for me to walk down the aisle. Most certainly a moment I, my husband, our family and friends will remember forever. Everything ran smoothly and effortlessly, no doubt because of Jesi. Jesi's determination, motivation, kindness, friendliness, and innovation spoke volumes of the team. I was so stressed about it not working out, and she completely put me at ease. The day of team were also fantastic! I regret not remembering our day of coordinator's name, but she was so sweet and helpful. Eric was also nothing short of amazing, helping with setup and the rest of the day/night. The venue was gorgeous both inside and out. Being a photographer, I was pretty picky on venues coming from a photo standpoint. Let me tell you - so many photo opportunities here! The grounds were very well kept and felt very spacious. If you are looking for a team who is friendly, hardworking, accommodating, dedicated, and is as excited as you are about your wedding, look no further. Where to start.. Church ranch event center from the very beginning was beyond welcoming and accommodating. My husband and I were very nervous as we are two gay men that were getting married and were unsure on the response from the venues we were looking at. From our first consultation and tour, to our final touches, and the day of the event, the whole entire staff was so friendly, and on top of things. I have to admit that not one thing went wrong during our wedding. The location is amazing, the venue is gorgeous, and they have so many different creative ways of decorating and celebrating your special day or event. Not to mention the amount of space and areas to use onsite! I would 100 times recommend this venue to anyone looking for an A+ place for their wedding. I was a bridesmaid in a recent wedding at this venue. These are my perspectives as a guest and a person close to the bride, but I can't speak from a bride's experience. To begin, the venue is amazing for an outdoor wedding. To be honest, I don't think I've been to a more picturesque spot. It was clearly designed and built with outdoor weddings in mind. There are several specific areas conducive to the ceremony itself, a reception space, and photos. That being said, it IS quite manufactured, so if a bride was going for something casually elegant, happenstance or unique, this wouldn't be the best choice. The indoor facilities are quite nice. There is a large bride's room with space for 2-3 women to get their hair/make-up done at the same time, while having enough room for others to gather by the couches. The room is set away down a hallway from any space a guest might be. There are a couple separate indoor spaces. One is a large, rustic ballroom with a large bar at one end and doors to the outside on the other. The other is a courtyard with a glass roof. I have one negative thing that could or could not be exceptionally important to any bride considering this space. We were a morning wedding, and there was an afternoon wedding scheduled for the same day. Our wedding was to take place outdoors and the tables were outdoors, but the restrooms and buffet were indoors. The event center had set out the tables and chairs (granted, squished against one side of the ballroom) for the later wedding. It was in full view of any of our wedding's guests. We asked that they be moved. After all, our bride had rented the entire facility and it wasn't her fault that there were two weddings that day. We understood why they were set out - the staff had a quick turnaround - but it really killed the visual beauty of the venue. The venue agreed to move the tables, but we were told they "would not move the chairs." To preserve the peace of the day, we accepted this reply, but it was rude. Each bride should be treated as a woman experiencing her wedding day, not as someone who is inconveniencing the staff. read more

The event center won our hearts with its outdoor landscape, ample space to seat our 280 guests and its location to the city. We agreed to a date for our wedding and paid for what we thought was the full fee six months prior to the event. In the months leading up to the event, we were faced with charges that one would expect were included in the original rental fee. Be prepared to pay extra to put away all the chairs and tables, turn the fire pit on, hang lights or tulle, sweep the floor of all trash and mandatory tip for the event manager. During the sales process, we had verbal agreements to allow for a nicer looking photo booth than what was available but then was denied due to 'not remembering the conversation'. We ended up losing our deposit for the 3rd party photo booth in addition to paying twice as much as the going rate for a below average looking booth. These are minor things that added up but we had no choice being committed to the space already so we paid and moved on. Throughout the process, we made it very clear that our guests should not have to pay for anything so we agreed to host the bar (open bar). That came with a mandatory 18% gratuity on top of close to a five-figure bar tab. The unprofessionalism continued to shine as we later found out the staff suggested top shelf drinks, charged full price for mini beer bottles to where my guests had to carry around two at a time and on top of already getting a generous 18% tip, put a tip jar up on the bar. During the planning process, we communicated that we were not happy with all of the additional charges only to be followed up with a comment about having a duty to operate the business for profit. Though this was our one and only wedding reception, we anticipate friends and family crossing that path in the near future. It will be our duty to inform them of our two star experience. read more

We had an absolutely amazing experience at the Church Ranch Event Center from beginning to end. We ended up forming relationships with the people we worked with, which made the entire process that much more fun! The staff at CREC is extremely professional, accommodating, kind, and knowledgeable about the wedding industry. They confidently proclaim they can put on an event with their eyes closed, since they've been doing this for so long, and it is absolutely true! I made several last-minute requests/changes to the plan up until the last minute before the wedding (we're talking: moving the wedding from inside to outside three days before the wedding), and they made the changes without batting an eye. There is a certain warmth, hospitality, and peacefulness you'll feel at this place -- not only because the grounds and building are beautiful, but because the staff is so amazing! If you're looking for an incredible venue for any sort of event -- especially a wedding -- this is your place. Trust me, we looked all over Denver and could not find anything so all-inclusive for their amazing prices. And they will work with you to ensure your day is everything you dreamed of and more. We love Church Ranch Event Center! Quick shoutout to Mitchell from CREC: Mitchell was the first person we met when we looked at the venue after we got engaged, and it was love at first meeting. He took care of us throughout the entire process, always went above and beyond to accommodate whatever we needed, and has become a friend of ours! He is so full of energy, enthusiasm, and is so passionate and knowledgeable about the industry. We loved working with this company. Carl was our main point of contact from the start and he was terrific. He got a hold of everything we Needed and made sure we didn't have to worry about one thing. He did a great job interpreting what our guests wanted and what should follow after each song. He took a custom song created for us for the ceremony and incorporated it seamlessly. Somebody mentioned "Usher" and within than a minute Usher music began. It was an amazing experience. We couldn't have been any happier with the service Carl provided for us. read more

Tried to book a party with them with an associate of mine. She is Hispanic speaks English well but with an accent. The sales manager that we used was very rude and curt to her. Informing her 15 k was not enough and he didn't think she could afford the place. Then he continued to tell her he was sick of answering her questions. Hummm isn't that your main job to sell the space? One would think so... He then told her he could barely understand her due to her lack of English? What?! Really that's just unprofessional Mitchell, Not to mention a little rude while your addressing a customer. Needless to say a good friend stepped in from Wedgwood event center and made all the accommodations we needed without the rude unprofessional treatment. I work in the service industry and would never talk to a customer in such a demeaning way! Sorry for the one star we had really hoped to use the facility however being treated like that from your staff only raises red flags. Problems now will lead to problems the night of the event. After all we are spending money one would think that was a good thing when welcoming new business.... Guess not... Wedgwood gets it! read more

If there was a rating lower than one star I'd leave that. For three weeks we've called and spoken with Mitchell's assistant multiple times and sent several emails (she's been very pleasant). I've told here repeatedly that we were ready to book a wedding immediately for next summer, the venue is perfect for us. After three weeks Mitchell has never, ever responded. That's about the worst customer service I've ever received.......it's a real shame since the venue is great but we will take our business elsewhere. read more

I booked an event with this venue and it was nothing but a horrible experience. The deposit that they told me to begin with was different than the amount that was invoiced. The package that I chose would include the photographer, the flowers, etc. I had to cancel the event and was under the impression that it was taken care of. I was not contacted by any of the contractors such as the florist, photographer, the coordinator to continue planning the event. I was then told that I needed to send a certified letter to cancel and the event was never cancelled. I planned the event to take place less than a year from the date that I signed the contract and when I cancelled, they said they would keep the deposit since I did not cancel with a year's notice. I have recently received a collections bill for an additional $19,000 for the venue that I never used. The management knew the event was cancelled and that is why they did not go forward with any of the steps of planning. EXTREMELY POOR MANAGEMENT FROM THIS HUSBAND/WIFE TEAM AND HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. THE UNIQUENESS OF THE SPACE IS NOT WORTH THE RISK OF YOUR EVENT BEING RUINED. read more
