The ice cream and the vibes are so cool! The vibes are very cozy and the staff are hard workers. You can also sample some of their ice cream, many of which have very creative names! (See my picture of the bourbon ice cream, "Exhausted Parent"). There are three sizes you can get, generally 1, 2, or 3 scoops. The "small" is 2 scoops and cost a little over $5. I got myself the small as a post dinner dessert with my boyfriend and some of our friends on a crisp April day in 2026. One scoop was the oatmeal cookie chocolate chip, one of the best ice creams I have had in a while, and the other scoop was called Fat Elvis, also pretty good, although it could have had more texture. They rotate their flavors sort of regularly so maybe next time I visit, I'll find a new favorite! As for now, the oatmeal cookie chocolate chip is my favorite flavor here. Yum!

The service was great and the staff explained allot to me as a first timer. They have three sizes of bowls. A small, a medium, and the last bowl is weighed by ounces. Bowls start bout 4-5 bucks. We got a small and was able to share. The fruit flavors were so good. I really liked the coconut and pineapple flavors. I was told that most of the fruit flavors are water based, so if you're trying to avoid dairy, froyo & so fruit flavors are a great alternative. Inside is clean and they also offer outside seating for warm sunny days. While we were there we saw people ride their bikes and stop and get ice cream/frozen yogurt. I believe that the first time I went there was in 1988 when I was 16 (my two older cousins were raised in Union Pier), and since I visit SW MI at least twice a year, I never leave without going to Oink's before coming home. As I always took my kids to Warren Dunes instead of Chicago beaches, my kids always got to enjoy Oink's before coming back home also! So this year was no different and my wife and I got to sit down and enjoy ice cream before coming back home. I have always loved the different ice cream flavors (especially strawberry cheesecake), and as I always do, I bought a few pig keychains and other things from the gift shop. I also have always loved the old-school vibe! So every time I am up that way, I'll be there!! One last thing: I got to meet Coach Vink back in the day because my older two cousins (The McSmith brothers, who both passed away unexpectedly in 2024 and 2025), played for him at New Buffalo High School. Coach was a good dude, and I was sorry to hear of his passing. So, see you next time I'm up there!

There's a parking lot and other fun places in walking distance as well to check out. The decor in Oink's will never leave you bored. There is so much to look at! They have a number system so once you enter, be sure to grab a ticket with a number on it and it'll flash on the screen. There were a few groups who came in who were unaware of that and so the lines and ordering process was a tad chaotic. Eventually one of the staff mentioned something about grabbing a ticket and it was easily sorted. Everyone working was very friendly and patient which is a huge plus. I tried out one of their cherry and chocolate ice cream flavors. So tasty! I also love knowing you can get a half scoop as well although it was still so much ice cream. The young lady who helped us was very friendly with a nice smile. She let us know the flavors available and suggested her own personal favorite which was nice to hear! My daughters always get a single or double in a cup. This time it was chocolate all around! Everyone was extremely happy with the rich delicious chocolate taste of Ritters custard.
