They always turn these escalators off to save money such cheap asses. Been doing this for years.

It's unfortunate that the second largest city in San Diego county doesn't have a nice mall. We have to go to Plaza Bonita or Fashion Valley to have a decent mall. Instead of replacing Sears, they sold it off, and made some apartment complexes. The only thing good about this mall is the choices for of food. Otherwise the mall is permanently dead except for Christmas time. Very pathetic location. I wish somebody would come in and purchase this place and actually make a respectable mall. Escalators are always turned off and you have to walk up and down them for years has been like this. Totally ghetto and lots of closed stores.

Sadly a dying mall once again. A while back it was dying as well but a bunch of new stores and food places helped but it back in the map. I did a quick walk thru this morning and it gave me a feel of Horton plaza. I knew about Sears gone but after walking around many of the stores have closed. A smart thing that the mall is starting to do is paint the closed stores windows. This gives it a artsy feel and doesn't look as depressing. There are now homeless living in the empty parking lot and I ran into various homeless while walking through the plaza in the early morning. Another feeling of Horton plaza. Another place that ya gone obviously is the Sears Auto center. That was a reasonable place to get quick fixes like tires and things done. I have a feeling is Macy goes this entire plaza will be gone as well. That's really the only anchor store left. It looks like the owners or property management has given up here. It's sad it used to be a fun place to go. Maybe a couple things to save this place. Have a house of blues or art center at night to being in people. Invite beer houses and get a strip of them to bring in new clients?

The original reason for our visit to this outdoor mall was too jump on a big storewide sale of stuff...the other reason to visit was because we hadn't seen this place in about a decade (former San Diego residents). For myself it was even longer! I am happy to say it has significantly improved in the following years; such as the various outdoor comfortable seating, fountains and the kids play area near the center of the mall. Of course, the merry-go-round was replaced years ago. Overall, the vibe was less cramped and more cozy, with all the stores alive with customers and such. A typical outdoor mall, if you will. Worth checking out.

Thanks, Sharp volunteers! See you in three!

This "What to Expect" review is for the Sharp South Bay (Vaccine) Super Station set up in the retired Sears (565 Broadway) at Chula Vista Center. When you arrive, head to the white tent. I was 30 minutes early, but they encouraged me to go on in. There are specific lines for first and second dose check-ins. Once your appointment is verified, you'll be given a vaccination card that will be filled out by staff at subsequent points. Keep your ID and paperwork handy for multiple stations including a temperature check. I was happily surprised by how warm, welcoming, and efficient the volunteers were.  The center was very well-organized and felt like a cross between the airport and Disneyland.  Celebratory dance music made it feel like a party. Once your ID and submitted medical information are verified, you are greenlit to meet with a medical professional who double-checks that you understand which vaccine you are getting and answers any questions you might have. After the injection, a group of "cheerful" volunteers :o) will direct you to a seating area for 15 minutes of observation for adverse reactions. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR LIFE-SAVING, HEART INSPIRED WORK SHARP VOLUNTEERS! It's been a long, hard year. Being able to get vaccinated in such a fun, welcoming environment really made the time fly by yet feel deeply life-affirming and momentous. I can't wait to come back for round two! PS. This NBC video gives a good glimpse of the center starting at 40 seconds: https://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/sharp-vaccination-sites-looking-for-volunteers/2567371/

    Cristina S.

In the past this place has gotten a lot of hate but I think that this place really deserves a second chance. They have beautiful decorations, pictures with Santa, and out door appeal. Overall I really enjoy going to this mall it has great stores, great restraunts, and places to charge for EVs ..(some of the charge stations are FREE!!) sSsHh!! You didn't hear it from me..

Some of these shoes are 80% off? Name brands? Cheaper than Payless! But with a 30 day full refund full vender quality!

The fashion Valley Mall tho, is my main mall. This is the mall where I actually do most of my shopping. We watch movies at the AMC theater when we have extra time and get food at the cafeteria/food court area after hours of walking. My son never misses going inside the Laderach to get a free taste, the best chocolate there is. We love going to this mall, especially with my son now being a teenager, we would most likely be doing lots of our shopping activities here especially at his favorite boutiques, like the zumies, Hollister, Rayban, and plenty others I do not recall.... We also love going to The escape room where the mall is. My favorite is the Nordstrom Rack! ;) The holidays tho could get really packed and busy but there's alot of nice things to see and lots of good deals to look forward to.

Endless spots to park! That's a first! Are malls dead now? How are stores surviving? Anywhoo, I still spent more than planned. Damn you, Sephora! Pros: *Surprisingly easy parking (a rare mall miracle) *Huge mix of stores from bougie to budget - Louis Vuitton, Coach, Hollister, Macy's, Nordstrom's, Neiman Marcus, H&M, Zara, and Gucci to name a few *Open-air vibe with palm trees; very San Diego aesthetic with a tropical feel; complete with fountains and artistic landscaping *Solid food options with a food court, cafes, and kiosks, Cheesecake Factory, Seasons 52, and my fav, True Food Kitchen *Clean and well-maintained and easy to wander around *There's a lot of variety here to keep you entertained *They have seasonal events that is a nice addition to shopping Cons: *Felt oddly empty for a Sunday..kinda eerie but it may be an introvert paradise *Dangerous for your wallet (you will overspend) *Some stores seem like they're hanging on by a thread *Malls just don't hit like they used to despite the pros- mainly because everything has gone up! Shopping isn't as enjoyable when things cost an arm and a leg. Overall: 3.5 Stars - Still one of the nicer malls around if you're in the mood to stroll, shop, and accidentally blow your budget (Guilty!). Would I come back? Only if my bank account approves!

What they don't tell you is that you'll spend roughly two-thirds of that hour trapped in a slow-moving purgatory just trying to escape. I've been to Cotijas, Baskin Robbins, McDonald's, Subway, Vons, the petstore and even the flower shop. I've discovered the açaí bowl place next to subway. I've discovered an in store Starbucks at Vons (that makes better Fraps than the actual Starbucks locations). I've discovered a library across the street. All this, playing Pokémon go in this area. This whole place is loaded with in game content and a lot of players frequent the area while enjoying the local businesses. For many of us, the games presence was the defining difference maker as to why we would come here instead of let's say Otay Ranch Mall or Chula Vista Mall. Or another food location or Wal-Mart or even Costco's. It had a gym that many of us took pride in defending (a gym is an in game location that players Pokémon battle over for territorial control based on 1 of three team factions). Anyways, I thought about going to my favorite taco but ended up siding with cotijas over here since it is in this parking lot and I see that all the stops are being removed along with its gym. Nothing against cotijas, but the main reason that won me over here most of the time WAS Pokemongo. I understand some players hog the parking spots that may effect small businesses (real life greater than gaming life). But I just wanted to voice my opinion on this. This shopping Centre may not lose a lot of money. But this specific one is probably going to be crossed off of my main spending locations. It obviously needs every dollar it can get as small businesses constantly come and go. Like hallmark is already Out of Business here. Your local food spots were great for gamers though. Shutting them out isn't a great idea In my opinion because you miss out on extra business. Especially when your parking lot is a well known reference spot. "The Vons" is all we had to say and Pokemongo players knew which Vons you meant. Now it's just another Vons to us. Well probably migrate to another shopping center or area. But disappointed here for sure as this was my favorite due to the location. You see we wanted to consolidate trips. Have our cake and eat it too. Now it's either a Pokemongo event day or a Vons area day. I can't count how many times we shop here after a go session. Or just come here strictly for shopping before playing on the way out. This is a big rant for sure but somebody has to do it lol. Best Wishes and Thanks.
