Love this place! Don't get me wrong, this place doesn't need Yelp to survive. I come here during the winter when Northern California racetracks are closed for moto. There's a place to store the trailer/motor home. There is an entrance fee. Lots of various track due to it being in the middle of no where. Showers are pretty awesome. Well maintained. 3 bathroom stalls, one is always out of order. 2 shower stalls, love. The. Water. Pressure. !!!!! So good. Has 15 minutes light and vent timer. Track waters down the whole bathroom after an event. Always have hand sanitizer and soap and paper towel. They just installed some new power outlets, but very few. Haven't used it yet, as I run off the motor home. Gas station available lowest being 91. Garages in the back but I believe they are all taken/sold out. Track owner pretty cool. Usually lunch from 12-1 on an event where if you're a member of the track you can ride unrestricted. Epic! Track itself goes counter clockwise and clockwise. Will be coming back each winter Oh! 4 stars because it's in the middle of the desert and I can't find permanent reference points so it's annoying... Recently re paved but chunks are coming up :( be careful! read more

This would be a 5 star rating but that would be disingenuous. The facilities are minimal, but that's the only negative. But: Amazing track. Safe. Good flow. Challenging. Fun people. I was a member, then left and joined Thermal, then left and am going back to CVR. If you want to be abused in the ultimate " timeshare" you can't get out of (I got lucky), impress people you don't know and join The Thermal Club. If you just want to have fun, join CVR. read more

Been here a number of times over the last two years and it's my favorite track in SoCal. It's still the newest track in SoCal so the track is well maintained. However, like most people note, facilities are pretty subpar for a new track. Main building is small, they don't offer garages, bathroom can be a pain to get to if you're not parked close by. I've noticed that regardless of the track org, the people that run the track keeps everyone in check and always gets to downed riders quickly. I've had sessions at other tracks where one crash could delay the next session for an hour. At Chuckwalla, I've seen crashes in every session but you'd hardly notice cause the riders are attended to right away. The track layout is easy enough for an average rider but difficult enough where it can bite you in the butt if you ride outside your skill level. Make sure to follow the cones on the blind turns. The cones are incredibly helpful cause they have a few turns that can be confusing and I've seen plenty people crash on the blind turns. Stay on your line, follow the cones, and you'll be good. Overall, fun track. It's a must try for any rider within 5 hours. Facilities aren't that great but I'm more concerned about a fun and well-maintained track like CVR. read more

I was fully expecting to give this place at least 4 stars but what the hell is up with the facilities?....or should I say the lack of facilities? Chuckwalla is one of the newer tracks in SoCal and it's literally out in the middle of friggin no where. There is nothing there...expect for SPACE! So why is the paddock area so friggin small? The paddock is literally just a rectangular piece of asphalt in the desert, why not extend the asphalt like 20 feet in each directly? The paddock looks like an outdoor swamp meet, with cars and EZ ups laid out in a tightly packed grid. There is one restroom building off to the side, a big tent in the middle and a classroom trailer with a small kitchen attached that sells breakfast burritos and burgers. The track itself is pretty good; lots of double apexes and a nice flow. There is basically nothing to hit except the corner stations and the wall at the pit lane so it's a safe track. If you go off roading, the dirt and dried up bushes aren't too bad. No crazy rocks that destroy your suspension like at Willow Springs. All in all it's a pretty good track but the fact that it's 3+ hours from LA kind of sucks. read more

My first track day, hosted by Moto Forza went very well. It was a Monday so not overcrowded, and the staff were well organized. Even for a first timer it was easy to find where everything was, and I appreciated the rider's meeting, where I got a tip on tire pressure. AGV helmets was also on site, and I got to try one out for a session. The restrooms were large and clean but that's about it for paddock-side amenities. The small food diner did not look too appetizing, and I was glad I brought all my own food anyway. John from CaliPhotography was on site and nabbed some decent shots of me. It would be nice to see even more amenities out here, but, it's so far from anything I can see why its got what its got. The track itself was very kind to my OEM street tires and very fun in CC direction, some very fun race lines to cruise. Track was very clean and pretty tight, I look forward top coming back. read more

This business charged us and when we requested refund they got upset and banned us. No worries. People complaining about the facilities should take their distinguished ass to Thermal California and join The Thermal Club. Chuckwalla Valley Raceway is an amazing track which will soon have two more laid next to it. One of them will be able to be connected to the original making it even larger than Road America and perhaps even COTA. CVR is slowly growing and as far as I know it was built with the investment of their entire capital to honor one of their own. They saw the need for better facilities and that's why you don't have to go all the way to Indio for a hotel, They build cabins where you can spend as long as you need to comfortably. Focus your attention in the track and how amazing it is. Don't focus on the little inconvenience you may have because there is a kitchen next to the class room instead of a restaurant and if you feel that you are getting lost in the track take it easy for a couple of sessions. read more

I will say the most important thing about ANY track is the track layout itself. It should be the ONLY reason you choose a track. That being said, Chuckwalla is a great track. There are several double apex turns, an off camber turn, a couple long straights and a great track crew. Other pluses include a new bathroom that is extremely nice for the dessert or a track and a tasty bbq place on track. On the flip side:No service or gas outside the track for 21 miles, no parts stores for 100 miles, TINY paddock and even smaller meeting areas. Go an see for yourself, you won't be disappointed. read more

This review is from the perspective of a motorcycle track day enthusiast. Chuckwalla is my favorite track to ride in Southern California (I've ridden them all, including many of the kart tracks). The GOOD: Track layout has a great flow to it. You can ride a 600 at a moderate pace just using 2 gears and have a great time. Great fun in both directions, I actually prefer counter-clockwise. Track surface is excellent, very smooth and lots of grip. Bathroom facilities are nice and generally clean. The BAD: It's a bit of a drive from LA, closest decent hotels are in Indio and that's still about an hour from the track. It's out in the desert so it gets HOT in the summer. I wouldn't recommend it in July/August unless you want to suffer. read more

This is a great location for track days. I participated in two Star Car events, and can't enough about the quality of the events. The bathroom offers showers, and is very clean. Participants and staff were very friendly and helpful. The track itself is fun and challenging, but very forgiving if you happen to run off. I can't wait to get back out next season. Just a word of caution, the CHP sits on the shoulder within the last 10 miles of the exit. read more

Located in Desert Center, this is an awesome track for motorcycles and cars. It's great for us since it only takes 3 hours to get there from San Diego. My husband and our friends came out for a motorcycle track day this weekend. I didn't ride my moto, but my husband and his friends rode theirs and they had a great time. Just being there was awesome. It is so much fun watching your friends zoom passed on motorcycles. Camping there is fun too. There is this huge parking lot that you can camp on in a tent, in your trailer or motorhome. There is a central restroom that is like an upscale portapotty trailer. There is a convenience store and cafe nearby as well. So, if you forget anything or need more water/wine/beer/food, you can just drive down the road a bit and stock up. I am definitely coming back here with my leathers and my motorcycle prepared to hold it up on a knee. read more

This is my favorite track. The conditions are great, the amenities are great, the staff goes above and beyond to make sure you have a good experience. I had car problems on two separate occasions and they all bent over backwards to help. I can't say enough nice things about them. It's an extremely fun track as well. Can't wait to go back! I've run with a few different organizations and the San Diego SCCA puts on by far the best event here. Safe, well organized, and small run groups so you can always get laps without traffic. read more

Whether you are a car enthusiast looking to improve your time or a moto junkie pushing to the maximum on the epic "bowl", this track is well worth the drive and the experience to get here. The paddock is spacious and well laid out for a weekend of camping. The hospitality continues to grow as the track expands its offerings for the weekend warriors- but for now you can expect nice bathrooms with awesome water pressure and great showers. Bleachers for the spectators, commissary if you are hungry and plenty of open road to pedal around if you have kids in tow. It's always a really fun weekend out here. Do not under any circumstances reserve a cabin with these people unless you are absolutely certain you can make the trip! I unfortunately had to cancel my trip but was able to give them 40 days notice (10 days was all that was required). I received a cancellation but after 3 weeks no refund despite weekly inquiries. I finally submitted a claim to my credit card company but had to use a lot of my own free time printing documents and mailing stuff off. 70 days later and still no credit to my account. I'll get it back but wow, what a hassle. Candice is the person that was supposed to make this all happen and she absolutely dropped the ball. I will never consider staying here, even if it means missing out on some fun. read more

Awesome track. Great layout. Great amenities. You can either camp out by the track... they are open 24hrs so someone will let you in to the track. They also have cabins you can rent out just outside the track area. They also have showers. The track itself is in great condition and you can run it either direction (clockwise or counter). Either way you go, they are so much fun. Smooth and good runoff. Only gripe is that they increased the entrance fee. read more

The Desert Center Gem! If you are a race enthusiast (2 or 4 wheels) Chuckwalla Raceway is the spot. Great track, amenities, and most important people. From the guests to the staff it is a great place to ride, race, or just be a fan. If you are visiting the cabins they have for rentals on the property are great for a getaway or team/corporate event. The track itself gets 5 stars. Nice layout, smooth and very demanding. The entrance fees went up to $15 per person and another $20 to bring an RV in to just dry camp, no water or power. I was fine with the $30 knowing it's still considered a new track and has high overhead. However, this is why only 2 stars: The showers ran out of hot water after just a couple of people took one and even in midday when no one was even using the shower, I had no hot water. Then comes the lack of parking. The paddock is way to small and fills up real fast. So if you do not get there early, you have to park out in the dirt areas which is not flat The track has know real starting grid area so that ends up putting the grid out into the paddock stealing even more room. So what do you get for the $35 knowing our club paid for the whole weekend to rent the track? read more

This track is amazing. Absolutely PERFECT surface, great layout (both CW and CCW), incredibly safe (tons of runoff in every direction)... Plus, both times I have come here it has been EMPTY so lots of open lapping. The staff that runs this place are laidback and really love the sport, not just out to gouge people and make a buck. Lunch is a BBQ guy who, while pricey, is pretty good (good thing too, because there is NOTHING else nearby!) Gas is available at the track as well, for somewhat of a markup (50 cents to a dollar) over regular prices. Really the *only* negative about this track is the distance... there is NOTHING nearby! If you want to get a hotel, you have to stay in Indio which is still a good 45 minutes or so away. But despite this distance, you really have to come here. This and Buttonwillow are the absolute best tracks in Southern California. read more

We had a group of friends do the half day mustang class, and we all had an absolute blast. The track layout is incredible, a perfect mix of straights, sweepers, sharp turns, even a banked corner like a mini karussell. Tons of runoff room in case you lose it. Bob the instructor was very helpful, able to cater to different skill levels, and we all made huge improvements to our lap times by the end of the day. The mustangs were well prepped, fast, loud, and fun to drive. Overall a great day. We will be back for sure. read more

This review is with regards to the 8 hour CVR Academy course. This course was taught by Bob, a well experienced performer and racer of many backgrounds and expertise. I found his comments and instruction priceless. He is very approachable and an excellent instructor. The track and facilities are fairly new, the track has been open for 4 years and the CVR Academy has been established for 2 years now. The mustangs used in this course are very nice and very fun. They may have GT badging on the cars but they far more equipped and modified specifically for this course and track by Palm Springs Ford. These mustangs have 420 horsepower as mentioned on the CVR website and are very capable of performing to extreme capabilities. I found the way that Bob taught his course was perfect. He starts with the basic fundamentals and builds upon the basics to create a strong foundation. Bob does this by teaching one specific skill or focus area in your driving abilities and you get on the track and practice it. The 8 hour course will start with a small skills to begin with and you jump in the cars to practice and perform the task and as the day carries on, the skills and tasks begin to add and progress together. By the end of the day, I dropped over 30 seconds from when I started and ended the day with a very reputable lap time, 2:13.3 . I focused on Bob's recommendations and instruction each time and I couldn't be happier with the results. My expectations and intention for taking this course was to have fun and have a good time; don't let it get complicated or frustrating. I had an absolute great time and look forward to coming back. I highly recommend this to anyone. Bring a small cooler with drinks and snacks when you come out. Lunch is provided with the course. read more

Man have I become familiar with all aspects of this track....except riding on the track itself (lowers head in shame)...sooo here's my view of things... I've only been here for moto track days and cvmas. There's a gate fee of $10/per person or $15/person if you're camping overnight for the weekend. They sell ice for $6/bag. Kinda hefty but you don't really have too much of an option unless you want to wait for Magoo's (the only convenient store within a 30 mile radius) to open. They also rent out trailers if you don't want to tent it, they go for $125 per night/day and if you're staying the weekend you have to rent it out for the whole weekend. This is great if you don't have a trailer with a/c of your own during the boiling hot months of summer...especially considering you're in the middle of the desert...I mean the town is called Desert Center for crying out loud! But if you do decide to tent it or just opt to sleep out in the open air under the stars (the stars are epic out here) they have wonderful bathroom facilities complete with showers! I can't count how many times I've been here now. I've walked the track itself several times and it is well maintained. Of course I don't know what it's like riding out there but it looks good! Don't forget an ez-up. The sun will tear you apart. If you do decide to camp out, you will have the most amazing sleep of your life. I don't know what it is but I am out cold by 8pm and sleep like a baby to the humming of generators nearby. read more
