Any concerns or questions which we ever addressed to them were always resolved. No matter what question we had, we always saw friendly staff which is open, ready to help, and resolve any situation in the best way. Academics are great, which is big deal for us. After OOS, kids attend highly selective high schools, and doing great at rigorous classes; which is again a great compliment to OOS teachers for good preparation. OOS does a great job at helping their 8th grade students with the high school admission process. The school community is wonderful, great families, many of which became our close friends. The classes are small, allowing each student to grow. There are always lots of opportunities for parents to be actively involved in school life, but it is not mandatory if your busy life does not allow you to do it. Highly recommended this school!

The OOS community is incredibly warm and welcoming, and the teachers are dedicated to helping every student succeed. OOS deeply values students' social-emotional wellness and provides a space for students to explore their interests and grow beyond the classroom. This is long-overdue review…read more I would like to express my gratitude to Sage Academy for the significant transformation that they have brought about in my daughter's personality. I was honestly nervous about how she'd adjust to a new school, but she came home excited after the very first day! That excitement has only grown, and it's boosted her confidence so much. She's now in love with reading. Something I could never get her interested in before. I also really love how the school encourages kids from different grades to interact. It's been such a positive experience for her. The school's teaching style and my daughter's dedicated homeroom teacher, Jerry, have truly made this transformation possible. They've created such a supportive environment that fosters real growth and confidence. Teaching isn't easy. It takes extraordinary patience, high energy, and emotional strength to show up every day and help students who arrive with challenges and difficult experiences from previous schools. Every teacher here genuinely cares about their students from the bottom of their hearts, this is a truly rare quality. They truly deserve all the respect in the world. I strongly recommend Sage Academy to any family who is looking for an alternative to the traditional education system. In my opinion, Sage Academy is a hidden gem that offers a unique approach to education that is tailored to each student's needs. I am confident that other families can also benefit from this wonderful educational institution.

Coming from another school, we knew which areas had felt lacking for our daughter. When we voiced those concerns, the preschool director was incredibly reassuring and made us feel that the school truly partners with families--meeting each child where they are rather than trying to fit every child into the same box. After two years in the preschool, we saw those words come to life. In every area--from academics to social-emotional growth, and in the thoughtful incorporation of Christian values that align with our home--we witnessed the school's commitment in action. This made the decision to continue into elementary an easy one for our family. The entire school community is warm, genuine, and deeply knowledgeable. We are so grateful to be part of a place where our children are both nurtured and challenged to grow.

They're a Christian school for Christian families and that results in a great community where people hold similar values. They also have stellar academics; the bi-annual standardized testing they participate in shows that not only do they excel compared to the state average, but they exceed the average of private schools on all categories, in all grade levels! We have all 3 of our girls enrolled there (Kindergarten, 2nd, and 4th grade). Beyond the basics, they have got great art and music and drama and computers and maker classes that the kids all get to experience. When we took a family trip and were walking through the National Museum in London, the girls were excited to recognize a painting that they had been discussing in art class. They also do plays and musicals at all grade levels and Ms. Miller arranges entertaining, original works for them to do. I'm especially excited about the ways the school works public speaking into the curriculum. As early as 3rd grade students are giving short presentations before the class and one of the culminating moments of 8th grade is giving a 20 minute "Ted Talk" in the auditorium, in front of the whole middle school. Surely this is the cause of some nervousness in the students, but the value of developing these skills young is so immense! Next year, we're looking forward to the no-cut sports that start in 5th grade. Our daughter isn't a great athlete but I look forward to the lessons of hustle and teamwork. Other schools have sports programs but they are often only for the students with well developed skills rather than being open to all. Also, starting in 4th grade, they have over-night trips. Our oldest just got back from a 2-night "Gold Country" trip. Many schools have impressive class trips, but they are often a large additional expense. SJCS's trips are subsidized by the fund-raising efforts of the school and so the cost is kept minimal. Other schools may brag about their programs, but then you find out that there's a waiting list and a lot of additional cost for those programs. We haven't decided where we will send our kids for high school, but SJCS has guaranteed admission with both Kings Academy and Valley Christian. Personally, I like the idea of keeping them in the smaller middle school at SJCS where they have a chance to be a mentor to the younger kids via the Buddies Program rather than having them on a campus with high schoolers before they're at that point themselves.

By the end of their first year, they ere able to easily read short books in Chinese, and write short messages (like thank you cards) all in Chinese. We don't speak mandarin fluently at home but we're still able to somewhat help with homework. Their math program is also very advanced, and now that my kids are set to go to public school, I'm confident Springbridge is at least a year ahead in their math program. The teachers in both K and 1st grade (and 2nd grade, where my oldest attended) are all very caring, attentive, and communicate well with the parents, which was appreciated. They worked with us to figure out ways our kids could grasp concepts they had trouble learning. Their detailed reports for parent teacher conference showed they were deeply involved and interested in my children's education. In addition, the community and camaraderie of the parents and teachers is another factor in why we loved the school.

The school curriculum in is offered in English, Japanese, and Mandarin, and is delivered in such a way where students learn meaningful lessons, in two languages, that stress academic, cultural, and personal development. The faculty are passionate educators who embrace the mission of developing young minds in ways that are interesting and challenging to the students. After some issues with the facilities in the early days (such as locations, size, access to good sunlight), the facilities we have now are now top notch - secure, with good light, plenty of room, and large playground areas for the kids to get out and RUN and play!!! The administration has done a very good job through the COVID pandemic. They were able to rapidly transition to remote learning and despite some minor hiccups (which we all experienced at first) the learning continued - with the added benefit of my wife and I having the opportunity to see and hear what and how our girls were learning. It was at this point we truly understood and appreciated that our hard-earned dollars were being spent wisely and to great affect. Last year when the school reopened for in-person learning, the protocols set in place were adequately strict and strictly enforced. Classes were held outdoors and the kids were maintained in cohorts to minimize the risks of any widespread exposures. The use of masks was mandatory without exception even when on spacious playgrounds. The rules were/are clear and uniform for all grades. With the recent surge in Omicron, we are voluntarily back to distance learning until the surge passes. As parents we are responsible for providing our kids with every opportunity we are able to provide. My wife and I are not rich. We're working class people from working class families. Financially we'd be far better off if our kids went to public schools and in our area of San Jose there are some well-rated schools. While we toil away and struggle at times, we know we are doing what is best for our kid's future. They are both bilingual, in touch with their Japanese and American cultures, and are receiving advanced level education from this fine private school. Added Note: When I use Yelp I usually look at the most recent reviews...but always find myself drifting toward reading the negative reviews too. I did that for Springbridge as well. There are a couple of negative reviews and I think I know one of them. Everyone has a different experience and that's fine. Not every student and not every family will have the same opinion, nor will they have the same experience if there is a misalignment in key areas like respecting the rules, embracing the mission, or you or your child having a disagreeable outlook or personality. This school is a community and your child and my children are not special, they're members of a tight knit community where learning is the priority, delivered by trained and caring people, in clean and secure facilities.
