We have been using Elmer HIll with Mid Columbia River Guide Service going on our 2nd year. Elmer…read moreknows the Columbia like the back of his hand. We first came down in January of 2017 with my father Edward H. Cotten retired USAF who had terminal lung cancer, keep in mind that my father had a very hard time buying a $5 lure let alone a river trip. All my Pop's wanted to do after retiring was to fish.. Elmer was a Rock Star and treated my father to a fishing trip of a lifetime. My Pop's caught Keeper sturgeon and did it comfortably he was not disappointed and neither were we. We will continue to fish with Elmer for as long as he is on the river and Lord willing we will be able to see his son grow up to be a River Guide as well. All of the staff that Elmer employs are top notch and if for some reason Elmer is busy with other clients we have no problem fishing with Fred or whomever Elmer puts us with because we trust him. Looking forward to many fishing seasons to come. Our next adventure will be this fall on the only wild stretch of the Columbia for salmon!!!!! A BIG thanks to Susu, Elmer's wife for supporting him and allowing him to make his customers happy. Without a great Woman we are not able to be great Men. Although I have only been using Elmer for a couple of years I fully trust him to treat us with honesty and integrity. Elmer was recommended to us by one of my best friends Larry Lombard who I trust 100%, so I don't understand a 1 Star review. I guess you can't please everyone. Thanks Elmer and look forward to seeing you in the Fall for Salmon!!!!!!!

This park spans part of the Yakima River out near Rattlesnake Mountain and sorta near where I work…read more I believe the park is fairly long, but I mainly have went to the main park area which is just off the 225. Here there is a campground, large grassy fields (for doggies to run like maniacs), a boat launch, hiking paths, and bathrooms. I've been here to run my dogs around, attempt some fly fishing (we were skunked), and most recently to geo-cache. Oh, and apparently, you can also ride your horse around here as well. Interesting.

One of my customer told me about this park... He said that theres a flock of pelicans in this park…read more At first I cant believe it so I asked him again and he said clearly yes theres pelicans in this park. So I asked my husband...Iasnt it pelicans are suppossed to be in the Ocean? You know Salt Water Ocean? He said yes... And so today we agreed to go in there and to my surprised.."YES!" Theres alot of pelican in there and some other kind of birds that I never seen before here in the tri-cities.. I also saw some herons...WOW! this is the first time I saw pelicans and herons...really neat! I cannot really go so close but I told somepictures from the side of the water. It was neat. The park itself is not that big though I saw few trais and some camp site with RV Parking (with electrical plugs and water faucets)... each parking has a picnic tables too. The bathrooms are surprisingly clean even the park look like deserted. You should try to go to this park if you want to see something new.

Hanford Reach National Monument is a beautiful area abundant with distinguishing natural landmarks…read more The monument is broken up into a number of different sections, termed units, with different access availabilities. Something to check out in advance if you are thinking of going. Highway 24 (WA-24) makes its way through some of the monument and there are occasional informational/interpretive signs alongside the highway in pullouts. The monument forms a roughly horseshoe shape around the Hanford Nuclear Site a Department of Energy (DOE) site. The importance of the Hanford Reach National Monument is highlighted through the signs providing integrated background of the area and the nuclear site utility locally and in human history. Provides a sobering reminder that the manufacturing and building of man-made structures and technologies, including nuclear reactors, need to be offset with the preservation of areas of pure nature to sustain life on Earth. If the prospect of high radiation doses makes you faint just thinking about it, then it may be best you don't come to a place like this. My work has brought me into the world of nuclear physics more than once and for me fear mongering tactics have long since worn off. Some things aren't so scary when you get to know it/them. I chose to drive out to the White Bluffs Lookout area and the road to the area was gravel and several miles long. The turn-off to this road is located near milepost 63.2 on Highway 24. My car ended up getting rather dusty by the time we made it to the parking lot. I saw only one other car while I was there, a maintenance vehicle. The interpretive signs help provide social and historical context for the monument and are worth a read no matter how familiar you are with the topics presented. A closed road, which one can walk, runs along some spectacular rock outcrops. I chose to eat my packed lunch along the side of this road after walking a little ways. After lunch I did a little bird watching and returned to my car. Very windy on my visit on the 12th of August 2020.
