Not even knowing what gout was, I went to the ER thinking my foot was broken because j was in so much pain. The ER said I had a stress fracture and to rest. A week later I still had excrutiating pain and went to see Dr. Salmon. He immediately diagnosed me with gout but took x-rays just to make sure. He have me a cortizone shot which gave me some instant relief and he called in a prescription for me. Later that afternoon, I was resting my foot when my phone rang and it was Dr. Salmon calling to see how I was feeling! Not his secretary, but the actual doctor. I was shocked! He also gave me his personal email address in case I needed him in an emergency after hours. There's not enough space here for me to express how fond I am of him. He always is concerned for the well being of his patients and it shows. He often has lengthy waits to see him but only because he spends alot of time with each patient. It's worth the wait!

There seems to be fewer doctors with the expertise, kindness and patience as Dr. Salmon. My 14 year old niece complained to my sister for months about pain in her foot. She was seen by a few different podiatrists and the problem didn't get resolved. My sister was not feeling well last weekend and I offered to help out. We made an appointment with Dr. Salmon's office in Bethpage and he fit us the same day after hearing about the issue over the phone. Dr. Salmon has a calm, caring sincerity that isn't found with many practitioners in any specialty that I've found over the years. As a mother of three grown children myself, it is rare to find someone who wants to explain the process to an adult, teenager or child and make them feel confident and comfortable. And that is just what he did. My niece loved him and he made her foot better immediately. He took time to explain the problem and course of action. The ability to connect with people of any age and his genuine demeanor is what makes this doctor so rare and amazing. I highly recommend Dr. Salmon with a 5 stars+ rating.

My second Toe began to cross over my big toe, I had pain under my foot and I had such a hard time wearing shoes. He performed my surgery on December 13, 2018. The recovery was sightly rough because he had to go through the bottom of my foot,as well as the top of my toe but it was so worth it. My Foot looks great!! The surgery corrected everything and I was told today that I could wear heels again (not everyday just yet but for special occasions) and soon there won't be restrictions and that was fabulous news because I haven't been able to wear anything but flat shoes a size bigger, before my surgery. He performed a small procedure and checked in with me the next day to see how I was. Long story short, Dr. Barkoff advised me to see a rheumatologist thinking it was some sort of rheumatoid issue. Lo and behold I received a diagnosis today of psoriatic arthritis. Thank goodness I'm in early stages and it is manageable. Dr. Papathomas is an excellent doctor. I've been seeing her…read morefor over 10 years for my annual podiatry visits. She is always attentive, informative, and thorough. For example, several years ago she measured my feet for custom inserts to treat my plantar fasciitis. She carefully explained how to break them in: one hour on the first day, two hours the next, gradually increasing until I could wear them for at least eight hours a day. She also injected pain medication into my feet (ouch!) to provide temporary relief. Thanks to her care, I eventually fully recovered. I've also seen other podiatrists at this practice during emergency visits when Dr. Papathomas wasn't available. Like her, they are highly skilled and clearly explained their diagnoses. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful. I always feel well taken care of here. I highly recommend Cherrywood Foot Care.
