Rachel excels at determining exactly which lab tests to order, how to interpret them, and then how to prescribe the best supplements to correct the problem. She is especially adept at resolving hormonal issues and cholesterol problems, but can handle any medical problem, and especially preventative care. However, she is also there with a hug at the right time when needed. She is brilliant, caring, and very kind-hearted, and this comes through in her holistic approach. Rachel really helped me and gave me my quality of life back. She listens and takes the time to get to the real root of the problem. I truly trust her and her body of knowledge and can't I imagine not receiving this kind of healthcare. I am super happy with the high-quality healthcare I am getting from Rachel. The only downside to Rachel's practice is that her office does not bill insurance plans and she is not a preferred provider on PPO plans and is not on any HMO plans, so she is out of network. However, this is understandable given that dealing with insurance companies is an unpleasant, full-time job. Therefore, her services are expensive, but are worth it, so overall it's a good value. When it comes to your health, it's really worth it. If you just want to take a pill for the rest of your life and are OK with all of the possible side effects, then integrative medicine is probably not for you. However, if you want to be able to spend quality time with your doctor and be able to talk to and work with your doctor to get to the root of the problem and solve it, and not just mask the symptoms, then Rachel is who you want to see for your healthcare.

He has personally written doctors on my behalf. He is a great advocate and knows the medical system. Clinical trials, new EDS research, and also solutions to my particular knee problem. He has good instructions on how to deal with doctors. His motto for that is: "No screaming. No crying." Lol. He is also encouraging and cares about his patients. Even our toughest conversations, I felt supported and seen. Not scared of examining patients and rolling up his sleeves. Well-versed in historical medicine. As another example, I had an elderly relative with extremely complex medical issues. Dr. Desai was only a phone call away to speak with my relative's care facility, adjust medicines, and speak with the hospitalist when he was in the hospital. I don't know of any family physician that would be able to provide that level of care! Dr. Desai practices medicine the old fashioned way - by spending time with the patient and getting to know the patient. Not only is he an excellent physician, but he is excellent at advocating for his patients in our complex healthcare system. So PAMF is all I can get for docs given my location and insurance (Aetna - no choice there either)…read more I have had dr coulson in Scott's valley as my PCP for over a decade, I think, since he replace dr conroy. Over the years. I have come to detest more things about PAMF than I benefit from. But my aetna insurance limits me to be pamf. I am 63 and spend about 15k a year for my insurance. 10k premiums and 5k deductible. PAMF has lots of specialists but getting to see one is nearly impossible because... 1) Dr coulson has to see me first and he always makes me wait a few visits with him before granting a referral. 2) if I have not reached my $5k deductible with Aetna, visits to PAMF can run $450 per. This rules out visits for many things I really need help with. Especially mental health... For $450, I will be fine. Except I am not. 3. The specialists wind up referring me to other specialists because they get the diagnosis wrong. I was scheduled for a hip replacement and the week before, they cancelled it because my insurance looked at the X-rays and said yeah that's bad but not that bad. Well it turns out I have sciatica. I cannot describe the pain I have been living with for over a year as PAMF refers and refers and refers. I had trigeminal neuralgia a few years ago. It took me years and many visits to convince the PAMF team to refer me to Stanford. Stanford found the location of my headaches right away and fixed them with only minor brain surgery. I should not have had to wait so long. The same thing happened to me husband, only he has a problem with his pancreas. He wound up at Stanford as well. I am now awaiting my visit to a spine doctor my PCP referred me to. That not until March 9. Meanwhile I have had to go to empowering hands for a leg massage and to five branches for acupuncture. Five Branches is great and cheap. Jake at empowering hands is wonderful but pricey. Still less costly than my insurance co pay.
