The manor has an 8 man spa bath, outdoor hot tub, set of fountains and even a chef (if you want one). The walled gardens are breathtaking and there's an entire conference/wedding facility there too. Heck, it's even got its own private nightclub! You can be married at the manor too indoors or out. There's a beautiful little dovecote inglenook in the gardens that's licensed for ceremonies. Around 20 people can stay in the house and it works out to be surprisingly affordable when compared to a hotel. Superb for big family occasions or birthdays.

The guesthouse is quite easy to find and in a convenient location close to Dunmow High Street. There is a pub with a good Indian restaurant just opposite. The upstairs rooms are a bit more modern with nicer decor and better showers, but they are all very comfortable. There's also a lounge for the guests to use. I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area, or if I needed to stay close to Stansted before a flight etc.

Walking in, there is a well sized car park for overnight guests and the rooms are of good size. The beds usually don't feature more than a full sized bed, but the bathrooms are quite large and it is very clean. When booking, there is a breakfast option you can choose. The entire hotel has a creaky old English feeling, but it adds to its character. Try it out for size if you're ever in the area! :)

Just outside the lovely town of Bury St. Edmund's, it has a wonderfully old world ambience with wide open areas and ornate wood panelling. The pub and dining area make it a superb venue for special events. It is also a brilliant destination for a weekend away as well. Breakfast is also a real treat, as the Full English has some of the best cooked and crisp bacon seen in a while, along with an abundance of fruit juices. Last of all, and certainly not least, with the kind and welcoming staff, this venue is highly recommended on top of the warm setting.

The hotel is a bit off the beaten path but the landscape of the area is amazing. Just a short drive to the historical Bury St Edmunds where you can experience the "smallest pub in the world" amongst other historical attractions. I didn't mind though as I was just going to be in and out. According to my colleagues, a room with a harbour view is definitely worth asking for. My room was very stylish I thought. Unique things that I hadn't seen anywhere else like mosiac style feature wallpaper in a dramatic blue and black pattern, and just nice little touches like a retro style telephone and dotty mugs, and a big rustic wooden bench/desk. There is nothing corporate about this place at all, it is very nicely done. The bathroom was great too - a seperate shower cubicle with an overhead and side on shower, and a big double bath tub - I had a fantastic soak before heading out for the evening. The room had its own temperature control, and the bed was very comfortable - I felt like I was being enveloped in a gigantic soft marshmallow. I can't comment much more than that, as I didn't have dinner or breakfast there, and didn't use the bar. I'd like to come back to the Salthouse though - when away from home through work, staying here feels like a real treat.

A little walk from the center but since be city is not big and the walk is nice (along the harbor) it is no problem. Good breakfast in the morning too. Dont Forget to ask for a room with a view on the harbor. Nothing says "good morning " better than the seagulls waking you up and the view on the boats. With a room in a corner of the building the view gets even wider :) They have a free parking so let your car there and enjoy an healthy walk. Will stay there no doubt if I ever go back to city.

I booked Grange Farm at short notice, having been referred there from nearby accommodation that was…read morefully booked. I booked for two nights and ended up staying four! The accommodation is a lovely Grade II listed farmhouse, that has been in the owner's family for generations. The rooms are spacious, and tastefully but simply decorated. My room had a bathroom down the corridor, but this wasn't a problem (the other two rooms are en-suite). The place is blissfully quiet and my bed was very comfortable, so I slept wonderfully. The site has several duck ponds (and lots of ducks) and a friendly horse in the adjacent field. There is ample parking and I had a great wifi connection when I needed it. Breakfast was excellent - a lot of the produce is local and fresh (eggs come from their own hens) and included fresh figs. The owner, Kathy, could not have been more helpful, from giving me directions to get there, and then helping me find the right spot to park my motorbike (ie not on gravel). It's a ten minute walk into the village of Woolpit via a public footpath, or a few minutes' drive. Woolpit has two village stores (a small co-op and one in the garage), chip shop and a nice restaurant in the Swan. Also worth knowing is that there is a petrol station just along from the church (the church is definitely worth a visit).
