I love Christian Michi in Charleston. It's one of my favorites but I heard it relocated to Mt Pleasant. I live in Florida and usually stay in downtown Charleston off king street at the Grand Bohemian, but the first thing on my agenda would be to go around the corner and stop along the way first block or two on my way down to Christian Michi. I never would get past their store because I would always spend about an hour there. I love the buyer and her selections. Great quality, unusual fabric selections as well. I always found things I couldn't find back home and it was my absolute favorite. Not the typical boutique, definitely a step up. I will be adding Mount Pleasant to my agenda the next time I go to Charleston because Christian Michi is that good. It's worth it. read more

Don't waste your time here. Went in to check out some of the coats and the sales person was extremely rude. Scolded us for asking a question about if the jackets were vintage or designer, and then followed us around the store like we were in there to shoplift. Plus, also on a second look a lot of their stuff is cheap and counterfeit and offensively overpriced. Probably the worst store on King Street. read more

The business prays on visitors who come to Charleston from around the country. They have an undisclosed return policy and will not work with the customer. If you buy something from this business you are stuck with it . The store owner refuses to call customers back , makes no attempt at answering customer calls . Under no circumstances should you ever go to this store as their whole purpose is to defraud out of town customers read more

I bought a "one of a kind" designer clutch today, paid $328. I found it later on Amazon for $124! It ships directly from the designer (Mary Frances) so it is not a fake. I got a heavy sales pitch so I give to the sales person for being good at what she does. Shame on me for falling for it. Side note, no refunds so I just learned a $200 lesson!! Treasure trove with lovely, knowledgeable staff. I had not been to Charleston for several years and it was such a pleasure to return.

Unable to get item ordered because manufacturer discontinued making the the item: Coat. The owner decided to keep the $500+ charged to a credit card and give a store credit. Living out of state, a store credit was useless but owner would not budge. Having no product and store refusing to credit our credit card, we disputed charge with credit card company. After their investigation the charge was reversed. The store's D+ rating by the BBB, in my opinion is very generous based on our and other online experiences. read more

This boutique used to be a favorite of mine. , however, not any longer. I find being followed around very intrusive and offensive. I have spent a good deal of money there over time but as someone else's review said , they are a nightmare to deal with when there's a return of any kind. I bought a suede coat there and when I went to wear it several weeks later I found that the 2600,00 coat was significantly faded on one entire side. The tags are still on the item. I have called repeatedly to talk to the owner about this issue and the rude staff will not put me through to the owner(s). I will persist but really, should this be so hard? NEVER will I shop in this store again. Too bad as I used to be such an advocate of the place. No stars from me, but I had to give one in order for it to post. read more

Owner followed my sister and I around into every room and was a foot away glaring at us. Made us feel like we were shop lifting. One of the guys was nice to us but the lady was over bearing and never said a word to us. Would pretend to tidy up and fold clothes a foot away basically pushing us out of the store. Wouldn't let us into part of the store. read more

I love this store. It has beautiful things. It is expensive but you are getting top quality designers. It's fabulous and a must do when in Charleston. They also sell the Diptyque candles which are amazing. read more

I had the unfortunate experience of coming across the witch that runs the show here... word to the wise: do not shop here!!! The products are readily available online or at other retail stores for nearly half the price. The staff is wildly overbearing and the manager/owner is incredibly rude... if you happen to find yourself in this store I recommend leaving immediately. If you want to pay 20-50% more than Suggested Manufacturers Retail price - this is the place!!! Don't understand the logic as they would sell more if they were legit! And yes on top of it all they DO NOT take returns for refunds!!! Only store credit and then you are just shopping angry - how sad is that - promoting anger. Great items but my experience is similar to others where there are multiple reports of people feeling uncomfortable that they cannot shop and a sales associate following them around literally everywhere. At least break the ice. Ask me what I'm looking for -if I'm just looking then let me look in peace and leave it at that. If you're going to keep following closely, then let's do some small talk, I flew in from seattle, I just got married that weekend and was so excited to be there...and then on second thought, I wished I had rather hopped on a direct flight to London and spent my time at Harrods or any other shop elsewhere in the world frankly. read more

I love this store. I occasionally visit Charleston from my home on Kiawah Island, and this is always on my must-go list! What I love most about it is that you can find things there that you cannot find anywhere else in the area. They carry European designers, like Von Dorenberg... I bought one of their long jackets here last winter, and I continue to get compliments from total strangers when I am walking about, whether in Geneva or NYC. Beware! This lovely dress shop on King Street in Charleston has great customer service....until you have an issue! I am a local resident and, until recently, frequented the shop and brought my visitors there. Never again! I recently purchased a hat that I wanted to return, unworn and with tags intact. It was past the 7 day "return window" that was on the receipt that is generated AFTER the purchase. There is no sign anywhere in the store that advises a customer of this policy. The owner/ manager would not even come out from the back to speak with me. Fortunately, Charleston has loads of lovely shops with shop owners who are more than gracious and accommodating. I recommend that you steer away from Christian Michi and head to almost anywhere else! read more

This place rocks! The window displays are thoughtful and change from season to season. Last time I walked in there was a fabulous red dress. Absolutely TDF! If you need to find a gift for a lady, you can shop here and leave knowing you found something great. There's not a lot of places that carry Dipytique fragrances and candle. This place carries an assortment that is unparalleled. It's bright and airy and the people working are friendly and helpful. Only drawback (why I didn't give it 5 stars) is if you have a walker or a wheelchair you are subjected to staying on the first floor. I live in Charleston and love the store but they need to change the return policy. I bought a sweater for my daughter for Christmas. We took it back the day after Christmas because she wanted to get a different color. I was told that after seven days of purchase they don't accepts refunds or exchanges. ( I bought the sweater a month ago) I can understand no refund but at least offer an exchange for a different size, color, new item or store credit. I try hard to support local stores but after being told NO, I will never buy anything in the store again. I can buy the Joules brand online with much better refund and exchange policy. read more
