I like the Showbiz teachers and the quality of dance is the best around. The students do great preforming at competitions, too. Most importantly, the students seem happy, so they really give their all.

A naturally shy girl, her experience at Showbiz has helped her find her inner confidence and provides her with an artistic outlet that I know will serve her well in life regardless of what path she chooses. Kristie Eckman's artistic talent, teaching acumen, infectious good humor, and amazing patience have helped mold her students into confident, award winning dancers. The studio itself is easy to find in t he Landen shopping center. The classroom is a large setup with plenty of room for students to work on routines as a group or spread out and express themselves during solos. A comfortable lounge area up front for the parents to relax while the little ones learn. The cost per class is very affordable and the diversity of available styles such as tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop let you or your child experiment from year to year to find what speaks to you. Showbiz also boasts one of the most award winning competitive dance teams in the area. In 2010, our teams traveled the region scoring amongst the top in virtually every category entered, including one remarkable performance by a dancer who managed to take 1st, 2nd, AND 3rd in the same category (yes, three different solos). The team's performance at Nationals in New Jersey this past summer was equally fulfilling, further cementing in my mind that there is no other studio in the Tri-State I would take my daughter.

Please read the reviews before considering this school. My family has suffered as a result of their negligence.

Grades K-3 are admitted by application and grades 4 and up must also audition for admission. Pupils outside of the Cincinnati Public Schools system can attend for a tuition fee; those inside county can attend for free. The school has three large performance venues: - The Corbett Theater (seats 750) - The Mayerson Theater (seats 300) - The Black Box Theater (seats 130) The Corbett Theater stage has high ceilings which allow for "flying" actors, as well as an orchestra pit that sinks down to another level of the building! In addition to the stage, SCPA has courses in their scenery and prop room. Students create and build about 95% of the stage. The convenient location of the stage shop allows them to move scenery on and off the stage with ease. The art and dance rooms have a wall of windows which overlook 12th Street, Music Hall and Washington Park. Equipped with six dance studios, students can rehearse in this studio knowing their show can be replicated, step for step, in the Corbett Theater, as the two venues are identical in size. Many of the studios are heavily insulated so that loud classes will not disturb another. The school building has a very modern design with industrial elements and bright colors. Massive pieces of student artwork hang in the hallways. My favorite detail about the school is their students: they appeared happy and focused. In contrast to other public schools, all of the SCPA pupils were dressed nicely for class with combed hair; no one was wearing pajamas.

Brothers Travis and Erik take to the stage with feats of danger, like sword-swallowing, fire eating, laying on a bed of nails, and juggling flaming machetes. The third member of this group, Travis's "Pickled Wife," Susan, also eats fire and is part of a bullwhip routine. Not only do the Pickled Brothers put themselves in harm's way for their Cincinnati audience, but they've garnered a national following. The group has appeared on Animal Planet, The Tonight Show, CMT, MTV, and Guinness World Records. And yes, they currently hold three world records: 1.) Travis holds the record for stuffing the most Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches into a mouth at once. (Eleven of the insects filled his mouth, if you were curious.) 2.) Erik is the youngest person to juggle upside down for 5 minutes 3.) Travis hit the most targets with a bullwhip while swallowing a sword. Sword-swallowing and using a bullwhip at the same time? How are you not at a show yet?!? You can find the Pickled Brothers Sideshow performing at various events around the city. They are also available for hire for private shows.

The younger one could juggle like crazy! Swords, pins, hatchets, whatever! He could juggle it. I liked the audience interaction as well, they were very in tune to their audience.
