I called to get a quote from framing a certificate, and I was quoted about $150-175. When I came into the store, the price ended up being over $300. I should have walked out right there, but I decided to support a local business - and sometimes you a pay a little more to "buy local." I wish I would have listened to my gut, because after I paid for the service, I was told I would not be able to pick up my certificate for over three weeks! Really Art Heads, it takes you over three weeks to frame a simple certificate and its costs me over $300? I will be going to Beard's Framing or the more DIY route at Michael's in the future.

Ken is extremely personable and has a keen eye. I pulled up my Yelp 20% off coupon and he honored it, no questions. I bought in my kid's 14" x 28" school art with glitter eyes. Ken floated it in a shadow box frame and now it's perfect! My son brought home a 9.5" x 14.5" print of Skipton Castle when he visited there. Ken picked out a mat keying into the warm grey ink, and framed it in a dark warm taupe wooden frame. These are gorgeous! Lessons learned. You get what you pay for, and it didn't cost an extravagant amount like other frame shops. Trust Frame Central to do the best framing!

My wife and I are new to the area…read moreand had several pieces we wanted to get framed and one of our pieces was a family watercolor we wanted re-framed since the mat had warped over the years. The original mat was also cut too tight and overlapped/hid content on the image. We all agreed it could be improved with a more open mat but weren't sure how far we could get away with before showing acidification from the older mat on the paper, artistic marks, etc. And it was agreed they'd call us to let us know what seemed right after they had opened it. We never got that call and they cut the mat exactly as it was (which wasn't great) so that may have been a failure in communication or note taking--whatever it happens! We go to pick it up and talk about it again and Liz was the nicest shop keeper ever and agreed to open it on the spot so we could have a look and sure enough we could trim back that mat and expand the image. We could do all that without having to cut a new frame, glass, etc. So we make an extra trip to work this out but so what it's perfect now and an extra trip for perfection is surely worth it. My point is not all shops will be willing to work with you and be as courteous as they are so I suggest you check them out. I've shopped at many different Michael's locations in many different states and they're all pretty much the same. Parking was plentiful here and not one shopping cart incident the whole time. Most of what they have in stock reflects the current wants and tastes of the local community. My husband was looking for macrame supplies and I guess the good people of Tualatin aren't much into macrame. Aside from some cotton cord, supplies were none existent. I, on the other hand, was looking to spruce up my fireplace mantle with a more coastal theme and needed some sea stars and large seashells. There were no sea stars to be found but I did score a decent size bag of beautiful seashells. Good sizes and varieties, and perfect for my project. At checkout there was one register open and the person being helped was having issues with her gift card (of course!). The salesperson said three employees had called in sick that day and we were welcome to use the self-checkout. Both of us being strong Union supporters, we declined and said we'd be happy to wait. When we finally got to the register, the woman gave us 25% off just for being so patient. Thanks!!!! I'll continue shopping online but it's nice to know Michael's is still there and hasn't gone the way of JoAnn's...yet.
