We signed the contract, paid the deposit and thought we had everything lined up until a few months before the wedding when we received an email from him that read "Due to an unfortunate and unforeseeable event, it is with deep regret that I must inform you I will be unable to provide DJ services for your upcoming wedding. At this time I have not been able to find a suitable replacement and feel it best that you have ample time to secure a DJ on your own who will meet your specific needs." After asking the DJ what was the reason for the abrupt cancellation, he never provided a response and just returned our deposit. He continued to provide DJ services to others since so we never found out the reason for his cancellation. Thankfully, it was a blessing in disguise as we were able to land an awesome DJ instead who rocked our wedding. We are glad that we did not have to use Great Scott Productions and would advise others to think twice before using him!

Thank goodness for Dennis, whose competency and charm are pretty much unparalleled, if my headshot…read moreproofs are any indication. He has ensured that I will be taken seriously as a professional thanks to these headshots. For someone who doesn't love taking photos (case in point: my soon-to-be former LinkedIn profile picture is a selfie from, oh, almost a decade ago), I am looking at a batch of 'em that make me re-think my aversion to the camera lens. It almost looks like I am a natural! That's because Dennis was able to make me feel comfortable and relaxed, which definitely shows up on film. When you're laughing and talking about things you like and are important to you (e.g., rescuing a Corgi pup, eating super fiery spicy foods, traveling the world), your face shows it, and your smile changes. What an expert Dennis is for knowing that, and knowing exactly how to capture those micro-moments when your eyes capture that grin, and your smile catches that light. When I got to his home studio, Dennis explained how the shooting process would work, what options I'd have in terms of background and lighting, and even showed me a few sneak peeks that put my mind at ease. He's also extremely communicative via email, and is just the utmost professional on all levels. I had marked Dennis in my Yelp bookmarks for years, and now I'm kicking myself for not having gone to him earlier... so don't make the same mistake I did: book him NOW! You won't be disappointed.

Oh my - if you need a solid newborn photographer, book a session with April! Her online portfolio…read morewas impressive of course, but given there is literally a small window of time to get the "perfect" newborn photos, I was very nervous. I got burned with my wedding photographer (so many many years ago, but I was so unhappy with finished product that I feel like it was yesterday), so I did not want the same to happen again with another of life's important milestones. But it was so unnecessary - April is so patient, so professional, and so kind! She bonded with my newborn immediately and took her time to get the best shots. I mean she REALLY took her time. You can tell she understands and realizes that every shot is a reflection of her work and the pride in her work, and she takes no shortcuts. Her studio is ?in flux - she is supposedly trying to find a new studio, but in all honesty, her current one seemed fine to me (ignorance is bliss?). Her prices (session+photos) are not cheap, however they are indeed reasonable given her level of expertise. Remember you get what you pay for, and what you pay for is an experienced professional and excellent photography. I am in the process of ordering announcements and print photos from her now (so difficult as so many of the proofs are simply gorgeous), and I am sure I will not be disappointed. I will update my review when they are delivered. I highly recommend April (she is also seemingly the "newborn whisperer" in my opinion, LOL...I wanted to take her home with me for those 3am crying spells!) UPDATE: Got my announcements and photos! Love, love, love! Fantastic quality as expected, and presented in a lovely neutral-toned rugged keepsake box and ribbon: the proverbial icing on the cake!
