Chris, Ashley, and Michele were a pleasure to work with. They helped us sell and purchase in the Peninsula and made the entire process painless for us -- they took care of everything, including preparing the unit for sale (staging, repairs, repainting, etc.) so that we didn't have to worry about it while we were traveling out of the country. The real estate market can be daunting to navigate, but we felt that we were well taken care of and in good hands due to the Eckert team's expertise and their deep knowledge of the local market. When it came time to buy, they helped set realistic expectations, and asked us thorough questions to help ensure they could recommend properties that met our needs and were within our target price range. Chris & Ashley were incredibly flexible with their schedules during this process, meeting us when we needed them to (even late on a week day) and the entire team was very responsive whenever we had a question/concern. We ended up finding a home after only one weekend of touring open houses, and the team helped us negotiate an offer (under asking!) on a home that is in a wonderful neighborhood. During the closing process, they coordinated seamlessly with our loan agent and the title company. The entire process was so pain free, and we felt that the Eckert team had our best interests in mind throughout the entire process. Would highly recommend working with them if you're looking to buy or sell in the Bay Area. read more

I had an extremely disappointing interaction with this realtor today. There has been ongoing construction at the neighboring property for several months, including repeated work beginning well before the Belmont permitted hours and Sunday work. This morning, after construction again began at 7 a.m. on a Saturday, we contacted code enforcement, who came out and instructed the workers to stop until the permitted start time. Later that day, we attended the property's open house. The realtor Chris Eckert approached us and asked us to leave, explaining that the owners did not want us there. We immediately complied and left without arguing. Unfortunately, the realtor then came back outside (where we stood chatting with other neighbors) stood very close to us, and repeatedly told us that we were "rude" for contacting code enforcement and for coming to an open house advertised as open to the public. He continued to lecture us even though we had already complied with his request to leave. He seemed agitated. I would expect a real estate professional to handle a tense situation calmly and professionally, particularly when representing sellers and trying to maintain good relationships with the surrounding neighbors. He could have simply asked us to leave and left it at that. Instead, he chose to confront and berate us afterward. Instead of diffusing, he escalated. The way this situation was handled was unnecessarily confrontational and unprofessional. read more

quick edit. Response to getting mail you can't opt out of is essentially "too bad," this is the level of respect and care they treat local San Mateo residents. If they can't figure out how to manage local mail, imo, look elsewhere. There are so many other realtors in the area to choose from. read more

We started working with Chris about four years ago when looking for our first home. He was recommended by the lender we had reached out to, and we're so glad he was! At the time we were younger than the average Bay Area buyer and our budget was smaller. We had already spoken to other agents who didn't seem interested in working with us, and Chris was a breath of fresh air. He didn't balk at our budget and he gave us great advice on what kind of home was possible and in what neighborhood. Expectedly, we searched for months for a home and were outbid several times, until finally the market softened slightly (apparently because of international markets) and Chris pulled a report for us on houses that were on the market longer than 2 weeks. We liked one of those and had no competition when putting in an offer. After we closed, Chris and his team we're still there helping us with a few house issues that came up and connected us with contractors. Now 4 years later, we are contemplating moving up from our starter home and Chris is giving us great advice on how to do this. We are excited to work with him again! read more

I am in the mortgage business and always looking for a good realtor to refer buyers. I have been working with Chris Eckert for 15 years. Great knowledge of the housing market in the Bay Area, CA. He has helped my buyers get into homes and they are always happy with his service. read more

We recently worked with Chris and his assistant Michele to sell a home in San Mateo. It was so much easier than I ever could have imagined thanks to them. Chris was able to "refresh" our entire home inside and out and sell it for top dollar all within 2 months or so. It was a seamless, pleasant experience. We will definitely use them again without hesitation and we highly recommend his expertise to anyone looking to sell or buy. Chris has excellent knowledge of the market here in San Mateo. read more

When we decided to sell our house in San Mateo, Chris Eckert was clearly the best choice to be our realtor. Over the years, we had toured open houses in our neighborhood out of curiosity and we were consistently impressed by Chris' professionalism and welcoming demeanor. Chris made the process so smooth and easy for us. He anticipated and managed many of the details that would have been overwhelming with a home sale. Chris brought a wealth of experience in negotiations getting top dollar for our house while being respectful of all the parties involved in the sale. A shout out to his assistant, Michele, who tracked all the necessary details and kept us constantly in the loop. We always felt well informed during the entire process. We could not be happier with our choice of Chris Eckert as our realtor. read more

My husband and I first met Chris when he and his team were fixing up and staging a unit next to ours and later sold it for top dollar - way more than anyone in the building ever imagined. That same year, he came to our place to help us assess our own options and give us ideas on how to maximize the sale value. And he also helped us look into a property we were very interested in, even getting back to us while he was out of the country on vacation. Though we weren't ready to pull the trigger before another buyer bought the property (our fault!), we really appreciated Chris' commitment to helping us in any way possible and going out of his way to do so. As others have written in their Yelp reviews, Chris is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, kind, and professional in every way. He listens very carefully to what we want, helps us understand our options, and does it in a way that is easy to understand. Buying and selling property is a stressful time for most people, and what I like so much about Chris is that he brings a certain degree of comfort and calm to the table. He is a good guy, and we trust him 100%. read more

Our home buying process was extremely smooth and a thoroughly positive experience. Even in this crazy market! Chris was very patient answered all of our questions and really made us feel comfortable. Buying this home was by far a better experience than the last time and it was in large part due to Chris. Thank you Chris! read more

I have worked with Chris three times over the past four months. In each case, he helped us either buy for under-market-rates or sell for 20% or more over the selling price. Chris's in-depth knowledge of the market, astute analyses and his exemplary negotiating skills resulted in these better-than-expected deals for us. This was not luck, it was Chris. Thank you, Chris!!! read more

We have been to several of Chris Eckert's open houses. He seems to have a lock on certain parts of San Mateo and the houses in general are pretty nice, if bordering on overpriced. He doesn't seem very personable compared to most of the other realtors I have met, and I have a big problem with the fact that I cannot get out of having his junk mail in my mailbox every few weeks. I even called his office and the assistant there told me there was no way to "opt out." She wasn't particularly apologetic about it either. I actually work quite hard to make sure I receive as little physical mail as possible because it imposes on my time and wastes resources; this one is a thorn in my side for sure. read more

Incredible experience My wife and I had always wanted a house on our block for years and one day my wife texts me and says "our dream house is for sale". I said call Chris and let's get it. Now getting a house in San Mateo is not something one just does easily. It is an amazing feat of to accomplish no matter who you are. The competition, the process and everything involved is beyond most folks who live outside the area's comprehension. We started our journey at the end of September and by mid November we had bought our Dream Home, Sold our Existing Home and are happily settling in. Chris and his team were just phenomenal. They handled everything in such a professional manner, were always responsive and managed our money as if it were their own. I highly recommend using Chris and his team for any of your reals estate needs. read more

We had the pleasure of working with Chris earlier this year as he helped us every step of the way in the purchase of our new home. Real estate transactions are quite complex and can be worrisome; we know very well as we have done several real estate transactions in the past. Chris easily separated himself from the rest with his professionalism, knowledge of the local market, and his genuine attention to detail. But what really stood out above and beyond everything was the respect and courtesy in which he treated us with. I will forever be grateful to Chris for representing us well when the seller came up short on the deliverables of the contract. Chris stood up for us and ensured that the contract was fulfilled. If you are looking for a real estate agent that will put your best interest at heart, please consider Chris Eckert from Keller Williams. read more

Regarding the last review by Tom Graph, "Italy T" - He was very satisfied with this transaction. Chris cut his commission to almost nothing in order to get this deal to close and for both parties to be happy. Tom didn't want to put his house on the open market to see what he could actually get for his home. Chris Eckert told him he does not make the market, only interprets it; there are no guarantees on what you could get if you don't put the house on the market. Tom thought he was getting a great deal and was very happy until Chris Eckert put a house on the market also across the street. That house sold for 200,000 over asking, which shocked Chris as well as the owners of that home. After seeing what the other house sold for, then all of a sudden Tom Graph had an issue with what his house sold for and thought Chris was all of a sudden unethical. Hindsight is 20/20. Chris Eckert cannot see into the future. He was honest and up front/transparent to both parties. The only flaw Chris Eckert has is he cannot see into the future with his crystal ball. Shame on you, Mr. Graph!! read more

we first met chris at one of the open houses in our neighborhood and we were totally impressed with his quiet demeanor and sincerity. even though we were 'just looking' and not interested in buying, he gave us his full attention and thoughtful advice on buying vs renting. when we were ready to sell, hubby and i contacted chris to sell our home in san mateo. he didn't let us down. it was a wonderful and comfortable experience working out the details with him. he responded quickly to our calls and was patient and helpful in explaining and answering questions, sometimes for the second or third time. he kept us up to date during every step of the process until closing. selling our home with chris was so painless and effortless. i would recommend chris without reservation to anyone needing a realtor agent to work with them. read more

Chris managed both a buy and a sell for me. I was pessimistic that my old place would sell for what I wanted. But Chris managed to get multiple offers within 6 weeks! I think he priced it properly. He was the one who suggested that it should be staged and it made a tremendous difference. The timing of the sell and the buy was very sensitive because I didn't want to rent. The buyer had all kinds of problems with their mortgage. It was quite tense, but Chris managed it pretty well. He was also provided with psychological support to keep from going insane :). Chris has also stayed in touched after I moved. I feel comfortable asking him for real estate related advice and he even gave me suggestions for vets! read more

Chris represented us on the recent sale of a home in San Mateo. I was pleased with both his management of the process and the end result. He helped us navigate through the cleanup and repair, staging, photos, pricing, open house, reviewing offers, closing, etc. We ended up getting multiple offers and it sold quickly. I was positively impressed by his professionalism, and a couple of others realtors mentioned to me: "oh you're using Chris, you will be well taken care of." I would be happy to use Chris again. read more

We worked with Chris this fall when we bought a home in San Mateo. He was an absolute pleasure to work with. He was thorough, incredibly hard working, and detail oriented. He was available all hours of the day to assist in the search, bidding and buying process. His knowledge of the local market (San Mateo and Burlingame in my case) was outstanding. Chris also maintained a fair and level headed approach during a somewhat stressful and emotional process. Most importantly, because of Chris, we found our dream home in our dream neighborhood! He really made it happen for us from start to finish. read more

My wife and I worked with Chris Eckert when we bought our home in 2009. He was extraordinarily helpful and went the extra mile on a number of occasions to help us find a place that was perfect for our needs. We had initially approached Chris to help us buy a particular home in which we were interested. We expected it to be a quick transaction, but when that deal fell through Chris worked with us for many months accommodating our rather specific requirements and ended up finding us a much better place. Chris was very knowledgeable about all aspects of the process, and was able to communicate the complicated details of the transaction to us in easy to understand language. I have worked with a few realtors over the years, and Chris was by far the best. We have referred several of our friends to Chris, and those who have worked with him have been happy with the job he has done for them. Even after the closing and for years later, Chris was ready and willing to help us with matters related to our new home and to the HOA community in which we live. I wholeheartedly recommend Chris for your real estate needs. read more

I have been a Real Estate Broker since 1986 and have worked with many Real Estate Agents over the years. Chris stands out amongst them all. Recently I referred Chris to a client of mine in San Mateo to sell her property. He not only sold the property for an excessive amount over the asking price, but his strategy, attention to detail and communication far exceeded my expectations. Chris is well connected to the community and vendor resources to help with any situation that arises. He takes charge of all matters and makes things happen without hesitation. Chris is the type of Real Estate Agent that goes above and beyond his call of duty. Best of all, he's a really nice guy and enjoyable to work with. His assistant Michele is just as great. I would recommend Chris and Michele to everyone looking for a great Real Estate Experience. read more

Continue doing your research for a professional realtor before choosing Chris. However, if you are interested in finding someone who just wants you to buy/sell a house so he can make his commission then look no further. In our opinion, Chris was dishonest with us on more than one occasion. For example, in selling our house he only showed us comps for homes that were blocks away from ours and up to 1 mile away. He did not divulge he was already in contract to sell/represent the neighbor 2 doors down and what the original selling price was going to be. Let's also add his oversight of including our European designer fixtures as part of the sale of our house that we had to negotiate them back from the new owners with no help from him. We didn't realize how unprofessional he was until we bought our new house, of course with a different realtor (once burned, twice shy), and from a true professional who actually looked out for our best interests and not just his commission. Buyer and seller beware!!! If you have read this far, you have been warned. Other reviewer, Kelli C, is his wife! read more

Chris Eckert is one of the most informed, professional, and dedicated realtors I know on the San Francisco Peninsula. The San Mateo area is his area of expertise, but it is his knowledge of the real estate process and the local community that proves invaluable to his clients: making a deal happen when it might very well fall apart with a less experienced realtor. I've know Chris 7+ years now as a realtor. This guy is not a "flash in the pan." He's the "real deal" and understands the market, buyers, and sellers. read more

Chris recently acted as my agent when selling my house in San Mateo. Overall, it was great experience. Chris made the process very efficient and as painless as possible. He understood my goals and worked with me every step of the way. Michele provided as much support as needed and was there whenever I had questions. Both Chris and Michele are very responsive. My wife and I both lead large sales teams (not in real estate), and so we are quite picky when it comes to someone representing our interests. Chris was phenomenal. He has incredible knowledge of the market, the process and the nuances of real estate negotiation. In less than a month, we were able to find and buy an AMAZING home for $150K BELOW asking price. In this market, that is unheard of. But, Chris worked with us on our strategy, and did a tremendous job bringing the deal to fruition. But, then AFTER the sale, after his commission had been paid, he STILL has remained involved and interested helping us secure contractors to make some fixes, organize visits to the property (the previous owner had a "rent back" for a period of time) and just being generally available when we have needed anything. Chris is the furthest thing from a "one and done" type of agent. He understands the value of building relationships for the long term, and I give him my full throated recommendation for anyone interested in buying or selling their home. One last point not to be overlooked...Chris is available! He is excellent about returning calls, emails, texts, etc. Often we would talk before 6am. Buying a home can be a very emotion filled experience. It is a huge investment, and we always felt like Chris' most important clients. He "gets it", and I couldn't be happier with his service or professionalism. read more

I consider Chris Eckert the hardest working agent on the planet. We recently had him represent us in the sale of our home in Hayward Park. Chris was helpful in setting expectations about a sale price. He was organized and knew the drill with respect to punch list of items that were needed to prepare the home. And most importantly, he was an expert at navigating the offer process and maximizing our outcome. Chris is a good listener, and a true professional. read more

Chris helped me earlier this year sell my home and more recently buy a new home in San Mateo. From start to finish he was professional, patient, knowledgeable, and quick to get back to me with my numerous questions. He took the time to get to know me and what I really wanted in a home for me and my family. He arranged to have work done on my home and negotiated with the contractor to make sure I had a fair deal. Chris and his assistant Michele helped me through the long process of getting a small loan with the bank. Who knew there would be so much paperwork involved?! Even now when we are moved in and have been here for 2 months Chris stepped in and helped with the insurance company for a plumbing issue I've been having. Chris has truly made things so much easier for me and my family for the purchase and sale of our homes this year. I have been wanting to write a review on Chris for some time now. Chris was the most dedicated agent I have ever encountered. I think all would agree that my home became somewhat of a nightmare to market. There were additions made to the home before my initial purchase without permits. I thought that would be no big deal as long as I disclosed that the changes were made without permits when I listed it 10 years later. Well, somehow someone viewing the home for sale called the city to come inspect. What followed from that became a long, protracted and difficult four months. The house had to be taken off the market and basically revamped to meet the requirements of the City of San Mateo and get permits for the prior work. Throughout the process Chris was there for me every step of the way including meeting with city personnel when I couldn't be there, making numerous follow-up phone calls and continually researching the options I had available to me -- basically holding my hand through the whole long drawn out procedure. In addition, while staging my home, Chris felt the best way to show the home was to move my computer work station out of the kitchen into a back bedroom. I was a little overwhelmed to have to move over what seemed a very complex myriad of wires and cables and equipment, not to mention an oversized, extremely heavy desk to another area in the house. Chris personally took care of this for me while I was at work one day. He personally and painstakingly labeled each cable wire and cord so as to reinstall everything back correctly in the new location. It was such a relief when I returned home to find everything perfect and I didn't have to stress about it one little bit. In addition, during the transaction while house was in escrow, a cracked window became an issue. Chris went out and purchased a new window and had it installed and never said another thing about it. Chris was extremely dedicated to helping me every step of the way in getting my house sold. He is the epitomy of professionalism and I truly don't believe my house ever would have been sold without his help. read more
