I was highly dissatisfied with the "service" I received from Mainly Electrical. The renovation on…read moremy home was delayed by 5 months due to things being done incorrectly and untimely. They had a helper performing most of the work without oversight by a master electrician. I needed a 200 amp service done which required coordination with CMP. On the day this was scheduled, Mainly Electrical showed up unprepared and they were unwilling to dig the hole required to have the service done. This was rescheduled with CMP (after I found someone else to dig the hole). At this point it had rained. Once again, Mainly Electrical was not helpful. Rather than taking the time to pump out the water, they said they needed to schedule for a third attempt. I had to pump the water out myself to make sure there were no further delays. At the third attempt to get this done, Dom (the owner of the company) said that he couldnt complete the job and said there was something that needed to be fixed from CMPs end. Rather than waiting for CMP to arrive, he left. It was then discovered that there was a dead leg (something that should have been fixed by the electrician). Not once did Dom take accountability for any of this and continued to blame others for the issues not being resolved. At this point, I decided it was time to discontinue partnership with Mainly Electrical and hire a new electrician to get the job done. Within less than 30 minutes, the new electrician was able to complete the tasks needed for set up of our 200amp service. In addition to this, other electrical errors were discovered that then needed to be fixed. Regardless of this, I was still charged (and found out later I was overcharged). Due to his lack of communication, lack of sense of urgency, lack of accountability, and his unprofessionalism, I would never recommend Dom and his company for electrical needs (big or small). Save yourself the headache and hassle and look elsewhere.

I contacted him again recently to replace a couple of fixtures outside, as well as bring up an exterior outlet above a deck that I had put in last year. It was tricky, but he was able to confidently troubleshoot the best way to raise up the power box, and I think it looks great. Just how I envisioned it! There have been a couple things inside the house I've asked him about as well. He's very knowledgeable about things, won't try and sell you on anything, and give you his personal opinion (if you ask for it). Great guy, easy communication, and reasonable prices. I'll definitely go with Mike the next time I need electrical work.

I needed 2 open wires to porch lights repaired as it was dangerous to leave them open, 2 outlets,…read moreas well as 2 kitchen lights replaced, "one was zapping, the other was flickering." Jack said his hourly rate was only $100, but then he brought a "helper" with him @ $50 hour extra. They secured one wire to a porch light, but in 3 hours didn't have time to work on the other porch light or to replace 2 light fixtures, as they were repairing 5 outlets, of which 2 are obsolete, not in need, not on my list, not a safety issue. Jack charged me $500. I was unable to provide a photo of the poor workmanship on the 3 in one lightswitch/GFCI. Jack told me that he would come back when I had more money. I had told him up front "I am a low income senior." The only way to come up with another $440 was to not pay on my credit card. He said he got FREE light bulbs from Efficiency Maine, as do I. He used his and profited. He made me an appt. for 4 months later October 30 @ 7:30am. On that date he sent a text @ 7am rescheduling for afternoon which was inconvenient for me, but I had no choice as I was expecting 100 Trick-or-Treaters. He kept switching up the plan as to how he should go about working on the exterior porch light. Finally, we agreed on turning one of the obsolete outlets into a light switch. Why didn't he just do that 4 months earlier eliminating the fire danger? So, in fact, Jack charged to repair an obsolete outlet, then charged me again to undo that receptacle and turn it into a light switch. They finally got my 3 new light installed. So a total of $940. So little work was accomplished. My 3 in one lightswitch system looks unprofessional. One lightswitch is not flush with the cover, we are having a difficult time using the outlet, they didn't put in all 8 screws and the 4-piece outlet cover is old, dirty and severely cracked... I texted my concerns to Jack and he kept putting words in my mouth. He was dishonest. He kept bragging about his business. Poor planning on his part cost me double the money and unnecessary frustration. He kept telling me that he had bills too. It's been 4 months. I will start the process with the Maine Attorney General to mediate.

I'm hoping that this unit will continue to work without any problems through the summer. This winter has been very cold and so I've relied more on my boiler than the heat pump. It appears John's son is taking over the business he was very pleasant to work with.

He also did some other small plumbing jobs at the house for no extra cost. The Viessmann went in only a week ago so I can't speak to reliability, but he was good to work with. I hesitated, a lot, (primarily because it's such an expensive and critical endeavor and I wanted to be SUPER sure of every aspect) but he patiently worked with my concerns and gave me all the detail I needed. Fast, competent and communicative. His two workers were also very pleasant to be around. I handled the removal of the old furnace and oil tank directly through the Dump Guys so I was left with a clean, orderly basement with gleaming copper pipes and a functioning furnace.

We hired Bill to work on our deck and make it more secure. It was never bolted to the house when it…read morewas built and it started shifting away from the house and becoming unstable. Before starting the job he came to the house and did a thorough look-over of the deck and took notes. The next day I had another contractor come by to give me a second estimate for comparison. They barely looked at it, didn't mention all the things that Bill pointed out, told me they couldn't do it until 3 weeks later, then said it would cost twice as much as Bill's quote. Needless to say, we went with Bill. He started the job quickly and wrapped it up even quicker. When he was done he even quoted us on painting the entire deck, which we took him up on because painting a deck is a major pain in the ass. He completed the painting in about 2 weeks (due to weather and holidays) and it came out great. The deck required 3 coats due to the dark stain that was originally on it, but Bill didn't change the cost of the job or complain. I'll call him again if we have another big project that we need a hand with. He's a good dude.

Horrible people...they sure are as unprofessional ad they come...I would never ever recommend them. It's one thing to make a mistake and fix it....quite another thing to take your money and make a major mistake and never acknowledge it by totally ignoring you.
