My dog seemed to love his grooming experience and came back fresh and clean. I was a little nervous about the air dryers after learning of a petco incident but everything was fine as the owner assured me that they only have cold dryers. They did a nail clipping, ear cleaning and bathing. They also tied a cute bandanna around his neck! Great experience! read more

I took my dogs Shih Tzu's three times mind you the first two times I was very upset because of the choppiness in their haircuts and not all of their nails were cut and the third time was the last time that my dogs ever went to this groomers place! In my opinion through this entire situation by feel like they are the worst unprofessional place ever! I strongly recommend that you do not bring your dogs to this establishment unless you would like to get rashes or cuts or not even groomed properly! Chow Bella grooming has given my dog and her puppies a severe rash that I have to go to the veterinarian and get special medication just for them to get better! When I brought the situation to the their attention they became very upset they said why do I keep bringing them? And they did not even try to assess the problem! And quickly went to the police to try to make a complaint which was not valid! What kind of customer service is this!? Also, other dogs probably can become infected with this rash as well because it's contagious! All three of my dogs receive this horrible rash from this grooming place! And we still are having a hard time getting rid of it! The people at this grooming place are very rude, very disrespectful, and have very poor customer service! Maybe this is one of the reasons why their shop is not open all the time I wish that I would've did more research on this groomers place! Just know if a customer complains they will yell at them because that's exactly what they did to me while calling me names! The crazy thing about this is that I ran into some random lady not far from this groomers place and she told me she had a bad experience with them too! wow my advice to anyone is good luck if you do go to this groomers place because you will not be happy I promise! On top of everything my dogs weren't even groomed properly! It was uneven cuts one side might not have been cut evenly....the dewclaws all four weren't cut they would only cut two instead of all four! I'd rather pay full price elsewhere!!!! read more

Wow, all you negative reviewers, must have gone to a different Chow Bella, than we did, or something?!? After a friend told me how great they are with her pups, I took my 3 pups there this morning and couldn't be happier! I am a very over protective DogMom, as a new customer, I was my normal worried self! They honored my quirky requests, took my anxiety down, in the first few seconds, and treated my pups, like their own. I experenced great customer service and they did a super job on the grooming! Great pricing, punctual and professional, with off street parking in the back, it was a perfect first visit for our pups... Hey Chow Bella, thanks for everything, we will be back! read more

Found this place through Groupon, I called the store a few times and left messages and never got a call back finally was able to schedule an appointment. I was very disappointed reviews were right. I have a Shih Tzu uneven cuts in the back /front of his ears, the side of his face was crooked and jacked up the tail, they took a big chunk of hair off the top of his tail. Unfortunately I would not recommend this place I rather pay full price and have better service elsewhere. read more

We are so sad Gaye is moving. We will miss her. She is 2nd to known. My two Shih Tzu's will miss her as will I. We wish her the very best!

I have been dreading leaving a negative review on a small business already riddled with plenty.. it really feels awful but I'm compelled to share my experience with the owner. I hope you're reading this. Here goes.. I only read the Yelp reviews after purchasing a voucher on Groupon, and thought, 'it can't be THAT bad'. After all, it seems there are horror stories everywhere nowadays with the layman being given "the power of the pen". It was my own fault for not heeding the warnings. During my drive home from my dog's grooming session I really wanted to give this place a good review, in spite of the uneven and choppy haircut and smelling of urine on his face (how does this even happen?) but when I came home I noticed both tips of my dog's ears were cut badly and bleeding. I can understand accidents happen. They could've at least told me about this when I picked him up, but said nothing. Whatever went on in there, my dog was so traumatized afterwards he hid under the couch for days. I wish I knew what happened. Bad haircut is one thing, compromising the safety and hygiene is a completely different story..unacceptable. read more

I honestly don't know how they stay in business read more

I was forced to give it 1 star because Yelp won't let you give 0. I bought a Groupon for Chow Bella in Bergenfield NJ for $29...I guess you get what you pay for. I wanted to try a new place in the area and thought a Groupon was the way to go. I scheduled the appointment for Saturday, April 18th at 10AM. The reviews were good, so I thought--"why not". Well here are a few reasons why not: * Mikki (my sweet 12-year old terrier/poodle) was dropped off at 10AM by her Daddy. He said that the place looked okay, but the person at the front was a little scatter-brained. To quote my boyfriend, "it seemed like the owner woke up that morning and said 'I'd like to be a groomer today'". This is not the feeling you want to inspire in your customers. * I called Chow Bella at 1PM to check on Mikki and to see when she would be ready for pick up. I was immediately concerned when after inquiring after Mikki the person on the phone was like "who? Mikki? What does he look like?". My instincts were to run down there and get my baby girl, but I'm trying to learn patience with people, so against my better judgment I answered her stupid questions. The woman's response (I believe this was the owner Stephanie) was that they were backed up and they were going to start her now. Mind you my poor girl has been there for 3 hours already. * At 2:30PM I decided to take a ride down to Chow Bella and check it out myself. I needed them to clip my 1-year Black Lab/Dachshund's nails. I will be perfectly honest--they did a good job with Oscar. He is a very shy, nervous boy and the owner did a good job clipping his nails. My only complaint is that when I asked about Mikki two different people looked at me like I was crazy. It was "who? Mikki" all over again. The owner then admitted that they hadn't even started Mikki's hair yet. Please keep in mind that I called at 1PM and was told they would be starting her then. The owner Stephanie blatantly lied to me on the phone. At this point my Mikki had been in a cage for over 4 1/2 hours. To say I was mad is an understatement. * A little after 4PM, I received a call that Mikki was ready. I was already out front so I jumped out of the car and ran into Chow Bella. Mikki was the last dog in the place. She had been there for over 6 hours. THIS WAS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE! * The best (or maybe the worst) part was after her being there for OVER 6 HOURS, the owner asked me if Mikki was a boy or a girl. Umm....didn't her doggy lady parts clue anyone in?!? I was so pissed off I barely answered her. I will be honest, I don't have a lot of patience for people or poorly run businesses, but this was outrageous. If you value your pet and don't want them locked in a cage for hours on end find some place other than Chow Bella. This place was unacceptable, unprofessional and a little disturbing. I give it a double thumbs down and if I had more thumbs they would be down too. read more

Never again. Received Groupon gift, $35 for large breed dog full grooming package. Usually paying $85 at another groomer, figured why not? Give a try.... Another case of you get what you pay for... and to trust your instincts... First, when calling for appt when told I had to wait a week, I told the woman (believe owner) that I really wanted sooner but if she was unable to get me in I will go to the usual groomer, groupon will keep, I'll see you next time, no problem... I made it clear I was a new customer. I was told, "no, that's ok, bring him in Saturday May 30 at 10:30, my other little dogs will be leaving, I can do him then"...so that's what I did. When I arrived, my dog immediately resisted (and this is a dog who happily goes to the vet AND other groomer), but I thought ok, tables were full, another dog waiting tied to the wall, he's a little stressed, he'll be ok. Owner comes around counter when I show her pictures of him after last grooming, and how I wanted him cut, "oh ok", and she takes him. I am told 2 to 4 hours. I call at 230 (he is now there 4 hours) and whoever answered the phone, after long pause when I mentioned my dog's name, says that he is waiting to get his paws done. "He will be ready in 15 minutes". So I get there after 3, and I got the feeling like I was being waited for. Don't see my dog, so I called him and it was like he was shot from a cannon running to me, and he jumped on my legs, scratching me....like his nails weren't trimmed. So I look, and realize I can't tell his nails were cut. Then I realize he has tufts of hair sticking out of his paws, still attached. The owner came around and snipped some hair.... trying to calm and hold him still as they again clip his nails, I see that under his neck and the ONE side of his head wasn't shaped up at all. He was sheared like a sheep. I can see the lines where the buzzer ended. At that point, I tipped and left. And I am annoyed now that I did. At the time, it was pointed out that a young girl with facial piercings did the grooming, so I thought she is likely inexperienced, etc. OK... When I got him home, really looking him over, got angry and immediately called back. Asking for the owner, the woman I showed the pics gets on the phone, and asks if I wanted to bring him back. I told her, I will never bring him back, and she lost a potential new customer. I told her when booking, if they were too busy to do a proper job, and give him the attention needed, I would be back when they could! The groupon would keep! I can understand a missed spot here and there, but this is by far the worst haircut I have ever seen. Long hair under the haunches, elbows still matted, hair under ears still full, one side of his butt shaved to the skin ~ one.... terrible job. I told the owner, I could have done that myself. But better! Sooo... I need to have my usual groomer clean up the mess. She is worth every penny of her $85 fee. Never again! And I only gave 1 star because Yelp can't give zero. read more

Rudest place ever. They messed up my appointment in the morning and then told me to call later but line was busy. When I finally got through I had to leave a message. Noone returned my phone call. When I called back again they spoke to me in the rudest manner and claimed there was no message left. read more

Never again. Very disappointed. If there is 0 star, I would give 0. Ear not cleaned, hair cut is rough. read more

I should've read the Yelp reviews. Before actually making an appointment. My dog came back a mess, her hair wasn't cut evenly. And it was very unprofessional of them to do. also when I picked her up there was tons of hair all over my car coming from a none shedding dog. Knowing that they don't wash her after cutting her hair unlike most pet grooming stores. And they did not follow how I wanted my dogs tail to be cut making it look like a palm tree read more

I wish I read the Yelp reviews before anything else, I see that I am not the first one they have been so rude to, STAY AWAY FROM THIS MISERABLE PLACE! I had a Groupon appointment set for this morning at 10:30 AM for my ShihTzu. After a miscommunication for the scheduling appointment on their side, saying I was supposed to be there at 10:00 AM, I was adamantly denied service because of the 30 minutes. It was an error on their scheduler and to be blamed as a first time customer for their error, I am appalled with the lack of general customer service. To be sent back home after a 45 minute car ride to get there, and nothing at all to accommodate me as a newcomer, is distressing. I will be getting my refund through Groupon and not returning, I wouldn't trust people like this with my dog. read more

Chow Bella is great, they have taken care of my dog Mia twice now since we adopted her. She comes home adorable and happy every time. She is not scared to go there, and always gets such great cut. And smells so nice! they can always get her in swiftly. No expensive, for $48 she gets cut, nails, bathed and trimmed. I don't want to say that I make demands, but if I say short here, not so short here, they totally understand it. Will continue coming here as a happy customer. read more

I found this place driving down Wash Ave, and took my Maltese there to try it out. They did a great job, and i have gone back several times. I like that the room is open, you can see what is going on, no backroom with barking dogs, etc. Well priced, good value, people who care about the animals and doing a good job. read more

These are the rudest people on the Earth! Be careful when making an appointment first thing in the morning - It's "Okay" when they are late (coming in at 9 when the appointment is at 8:30) (Happened TWICE!!) However, if you are late (because the dog did something on your carpet) they immediately cancel your appointment! I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN! AVOID THIS PLACE!!! read more

These people are the best. I have a tri color rough collie, Guy, I take him there an they have done repeatedly the best job of grooming my dog. I go to pick him up and he is relaxing on the floor, Great job done by great people. read more

I want to begin this with that i am beyond upset with my dogs haircut. If I could I would give 0 stars. I bought a Groupon from this place and decided to take my shitzu puppy Oreo. He is the calmest dog in the world. He has never barked, he does not bite, and he is very friendly. To start with, his ears are uneven. One ear is completely cut and the other is as long as when i took him. Next on top of his head there are bald pots and his face is a complete mess. We told them specifically to leave his face round and they left him looking like a longated square. Under his body he had knots but very few because i combed him the night before, and they basically cut out all the knots and left bald spots all under his body! His tiny legs look very bad also. They have long spots all over and it's so uneven. One of his legs are shaved and others are hairy! We told them not to touch his tail and his tail looks like a disaster. You can tell that whoever treated our dog, was not professional at all. We do not recommend this place. Do not try to save money with these people. I will rather pay over $100 than taking him to Chow Bella in Bergenfield. read more

I was sucker to buy their groupon deal!!! Don't do it everyone. I'm very particular about having my dog's ear hair plucked, so I did asked them to do this when I was dropping my dog off. They call me back after 3 hours that my dog was ready to be picked up. When I got my dog back, ear hair was not plucked and overall finish was waaaaayyyy below average. If you want your dog to be look like shit, go to this groomer, because they f-ing sucks. read more

I came to this business with the groupon discount. I told the lady that I just wanted my dog to have a trim, I don't really like when my dog has short hair. I also told her to not cut any of her fur from the tail. The lady calls me and tells me that my dogs hair is very matted & she has to cut it a little more but she won't be bald. When I go pick her up she doesn't look like my dog. Not only that but they did a terrible job with cutting my dogs fur. They didn't listen to what I asked about her tail. On the top of her head you can see a visible line on where they cut. Considering I had the coupon I guess you get what you payed for. Not coming here again. read more

Samantha, and her team at Chow Bella Grooming are nothing less than AMAZING!!! They take such good care of my baby girl Lexi that we drive 30 minutes, and pass a dozen other groomers, to make sure she gets the best! I've been taking my 2 little Teacups here for a few years and I wouldn't change a thing! Owner and staff are real friendly and took really good care of my 2 babies. They accommodate late pickups, appreciate their customers and have passion/love for the animals. If you want the best then I highly recommend Chow Bella! read more
