Location is awesome. Went here twice. The first time I sat in a room up stairs with a great view of the cathedral. The second time I sat outside in the sun on the street and that was nice too. Food is good but the first time we went then lady at the cash register was really rude and sarcastic. I had the be login waffle the first time and cream tea the next. Both were great. I did see a box outside in the sun labeled focachia so I guess the food is not fresh. Also slightly worried about food safety leaving it out in the sun.

Dropped by for a late lunch around 3pm on a Saturday afternoon, the restaurant had a couple other…read moretables but was otherwise fairly empty. The cafe is small, seating maybe 20 people, with a warm, cozy feel, especially with their fall decorations lining the main front window. The staff were friendly and polite, bringing out menus and giving us time to peruse. It took a little bit of time to order as it appeared only one person was manning the front of house, and it was between shifts, however when the food came out we weren't disappointed. We ordered a traditional fish and chips £16.75 and an open fish butty £10.25 (part of their 12-4pm lunch specials), and to drink a single Canterbury Gin £5.50 with a Fever Tree tonic as mixer £2.35. Both lunch plates were stellar, I'm not sure I've had a better rendition of fish and chips before! The crispness of the battered exterior was perfection! The tender interior of cod was the epitome of what you want in a delicious f&c. The garlic butter peas and chips were good too. The fish butty was essentially a couple slight smaller pieces of the the same fried fish on a toasted piece of bread with tartare sauce, lettuce, tomato and capers. YUM. The g&t was also delicious, "with notes of juniper, citrus peel, coriander and apple", and crafted locally only 300 meters away in Canterbury. If we weren't traveling I would've loved to try some of the other gins too, all the descriptions sounded intriguing! Note 10% gratuity added to all parties, the menu indicates this is distributed to the service team and chefs.

Amazing place!! Fantastic location, right in the center of Canterbury, around the corner from…read moreCanterbury cathedral. We popped in here in the middle of an intense rainstorm for an impromptu cream tea, and wound up coming back a few hours later for dinner. Everything we had was amazing!! The scones were the best gluten free scones I have ever had, served with clotted cream and jam. The brownie was out of this world, and had dairy free ice cream that was insanely good. The steak and onion bap was incredible. The sticky toffee pudding was good, but personally way too sweet for me. My tea only came half filled, but it was a small oversight for such delicious food. I loved being able to order anything in the restaurant without worrying about cross contamination, since it's all 100% gluten free in the restaurant!! We will definitely be back!!

Thumbs down from this American, as these were the worst pancakes I've ever had. This cafe claims…read moreall their ingredients are shipped from the US to "make" their pancakes (as if somehow American flour is different from British), but I'm not buying that these pancakes are homemade at all. They taste and have the texture of grocery store pancakes. You're not fooling me. Also, beef chili and maple syrup on pancakes at the same time? Salmon and cream cheese on pancakes? YUCK. That is just a crime against food. It's not hard to make a load of buttermilk pancake batter. If you're going to put a huge sign in the window saying you're an "American Pancake House" the pancakes need to live up to that claim. American expats and travelers alike: I'd advise avoiding this cafe for breakfast. In addition the eggs were a bit rubbery and the hash browns were fine but nothing to write home about. Service was a bit slow but very friendly.

This cozy and intimate coffee bar serves some amazing breakfast, and they also serve traditional American breakfast which can be a great comfort when traveling abroad. Their waffles and bacon and crepes are very delicious. The service was prompt and very friendly. All of these combined make for a great experience at this restaurant, now allow me to add the cherry on top. If you visit the top restroom you will see some signange that talks about the long history of this building, as a history nerd I totally fell in love with this place and will HIGHLY recommend this place to everyone!
