All my pictures are made of chocolate! That aside, if you're a choice fan, then you might be interested in this little museum. You've got the history of chocolate and how it came to the masses (when it was once only for the wealthy and royalty) -- Down to sculptures made of chocolate. They have samples running around and a demonstration of how chocolate truffles are made (they were terrible though). Got done with this place with 45-60mins.

More history on chocolate then you would ever want to know about. From the seed to the factory, this place follows the whole process of chocolate. I also enjoyed the historical blurbs on how chocolate has become to be what it is now. At the end, you can watch a demonstration of candy making and get free chocolate samples. Oh and the hot cocoa they serve is pretty good too. The recipes are actually taken from the history of the cocoa plant and how people used to drink hot chocolate. A great way to spend a cold, rainy day in Paris!

3 floors of Awesome: Step 1) Ground Floor= Origins of Chocolate with displays of pods, ancient tools, mini vids, & 'How chocolate is made'- all with placards in 3 languages (French, English, & ??) Step 2) Upstairs= Chocolate in History; Bring on the Europeans! Placards galore explaining how Chocolate made it's way to Europe and the changes that accompanied it. Includes many a chocolate making device, drinking receptacles and some pretty entertaining boxes, wrappers and advertisements. Step 3) Downstairs= Some wacky and some amazing chocolate sculptures, a room with a video (in French and then in English) showing the process from Pod to 'Chocolate.' and most importantly (!) a room where a chef will demonstrate how filled chocolates are made and samples shall be given! Step 4) takes you back to the ground floor where (if you purchased it ahead of time-though I'm sure you could do so now as well) you get to choose from a list of Hot Chocolate flavors to drink there in the gift shop area. ( We tried the Aztec and the Spanish- and agreed the Spanish was tastier) Also, the very nice cashier offered to let me sample the Dark Chocolate red wine and the Dark Chocolate white wine- both surprisingly good! Great experience, informative, fun, and tasty! Some might consider it pricey, but grading on a Paris curve, I rated it Moderate.

They offered a variety of cookies. You picked your tin box and filled it with whatever you liked. They also had pre made boxes. Very delicious and I love places that provide samples. I dislike buying things that I'm not sure that I'll like. Having a sample will just confirm my willingness to buy more. I recommend stopping by if you're ever in the area.

The store is fairly spacious, and they have a large display right at the front of their signature cookies. They have numerous varieties, so grab a plastic glove and put your selections into a bag. If you get 900 grams of cookies you will get a tin included. They have a large variety of cookies from basic chocolate to fig or apple-filled. These are different from American cookies and have a crumbly consistency like shortbread and a mild, less-sweet flavor. They are delicate and delicious! The filled cookies have a light fruity filling which is just perfect. They have a large variety of other items too including madelines and candies and gift items. The staff spoke great English and were very friendly and happy to help. They offered to ring us up as three separate transactions so we would qualify for three of the promotional discount madeline tins they were offering. Much appreciated! Definitely visit for these unique French cookies, and you too many be hunting for these boutiques wherever you travel!

Angelina, Paris, France -- April 12…read more Our family of four with kids ages 9 and 10 stopped here for lunch after visiting the Louvre, drawn in by its reputation for having the best hot chocolate in the world. We were looking for a place to relax and refuel, and the experience felt a bit mixed overall. Arrival and First Impressions The space is elegant with classic Parisian charm. The line moved quickly, and we were seated with a great view of the dining room. It felt refined but still comfortable. The Highlights The famous hot chocolate lived up to expectations, thick, rich, and almost more like a dessert than a drink. We also had French onion soup and an éclair, both of which were very good. The pastries were clearly well made and thoughtfully prepared. The kids had chicken tenders, which they enjoyed, even though the tomato sauce was a bit different from what they expected. The Challenges The biggest drawback was the price. The meal felt expensive for what we ordered, coming in at €154 for a fairly simple lunch. Service felt slightly rushed as they moved tables along quickly. Final Thoughts We would likely return if we were nearby and specifically craving the hot chocolate again. It is a classic Paris stop and worth trying once, but the value may not justify going out of your way unless that signature experience is high on your list.

It really tastes like melted chocolate with a bit of milk mixed in to make it more drinkable. We went at a bit of an off time, late morning and it wasn't overly busy. We saw our server once and I couldn't recall who he was when it came time to get the bill. I asked a hostess walking by for our check and she told me to ask our server while walking away. We were able to flag another server down eventually but the whole process just took too long. The tables for four have chairs that don't quite tuck in causing for a bit awkward seating. If you like really thick hot chocolate, give it a try but otherwise ok to miss this one. Plenty of good hot chocolate throughout the city.
