I loved the location of this restaurant, outdoors right by the beautiful Grand Bliss pool. Service, drinks, food, and the view were all excellent. Because it was happy hour (lunch time), my son got two mango smoothies and I got two mojitos for the price of one. Can't beat a deal like that! The menu was pretty extensive. Some of the things we ordered were: Fish tacos: so yummy. The fish was nice and crunchy. Goat cheese and roasted beet salad: very good Two kinds of crostinis. One was serrano ham and manchego cheese, which I'd highly recommend. I don't remember the second kind, but it was also excellent. Service was friendly. What was really nice about this place, was that because of the location right by the pool, we were able to send the kids to swim while we finished up. We were there quite awhile, which I didn't mind at all, but sometimes kids get antsy. This option wouldn't work with small children, but it was nice for us. Beautiful open-air restaurant at the large Vidanta complex. Prompt and friendly service with suggestion on menu choices from the waitress. I always appreciate menu insight! The free bread and olive plate is a nice touch! Andalusian Mussels were excellent! Husband had the crab cannelloni and enjoyed but waxed for a larger portion. We were two couples enjoying a beautiful evening at chiringuito, the Spanish restaurant at Nuevo Vallarta. This was the first time we frequented this restaurant since coming to The Grand luxxe in the past four years. The venue is situated opposite the grand Bliss pool. It is lit up at night and it is very romantic. The menu has many options including several fish & Seafood entrees. Three of us had the tuna steak which came with peppers and potatoes. They prepared it perfectly for me which was sushi-grade. There was plenty to eat and delicious. The bread was hot and crusty. We shared a pulpa octopus appetizer, mussels and grilled shrimp skewers. All were very nice. At first we each had a glass of Sangria....it could have had more alcohol in it. Then we ordered a Mohito which needed more rum, but they agreeably added more upon request. Desserts were very good also. We shared a baked apple with ice cream and what we call a creme brulee. It was a very large plate. Everything had beautiful presentation. I'm so glad we ate here. Chiringuito is part of the Vindanta Resort. It is one of the many restaurant options while staying at the Grand Mayan. Chringuito is a Spanish restaurant, which overlooks the Grand Bliss pool and the Grand Bliss beach. It is open 11am-7pm daily. The food served is described as "paellas, pinchos and tapas that offer a close experience with the Spanish cuisine". We liked the location and wanted to get a light lunch. The outdoor seating offers beautiful views. They start by serving you with a basket of bread along with hummus and olives. We tried the following: - beef tenderloin with brie cheese served with carmelized onion and mustard sauce - grilled artichoke with lemon-scented alioli - grilled pork skewers marinated with paprika, saffron and garlic Everything was delicious! read more

This was straight up our group's favorite meal of our week at the Vidanta hotel complex. We were actually staying at the Grand Luxe, but if you are staying in any of the hotels in the complex you can eat here, and I would highly recommend that you do so. The service was quite friendly, and while it was island-time, that's what you're going to get everywhere, so just relax and enjoy it (we did get our drinks and bread basket quickly though, so it's not like we were starving). It was also a nice touch that the chef came out as we were wrapping up the meal to check in with each of the tables to see how we were all doing. We tried four paellas for the group (a seafood, a squid ink, a valencia, and a noodle-based) and they were all excellent. The valencia was my personal favorite, but that's mostly because I like a little of everything; the sausage was good, the shrimp were tasty, the ribs were tender, and the rice was perfectly cooked. The chicken skewer as an appetizer was also good, and if you're not a fan of seafood or have a child in tow, they are plain enough for any stomach without being too bland or boring. The standout for us though was the grilled octopus appetizer; I don't like octopus (too chewy), but this was perfectly tender and fresh enough that it didn't taste fishy. My wife is literally smacking her lips right now just thinking about how good this was, and she loves her some octopus. Highly recommended! read more

Yuck! Overpriced menu. We were really disappointed with the menu as well as the prices. Walk down the beach to get off tHe resort. We fouNd great food close to the resort. I will say that this restauraby had lovely service and the presentation was very appealing. The chicken stew is not to be ordered. Salty and oily. The kids cheeseburger looked much better. Great selection of traditional dishes. Cannot go wrong with the paella to share. Would have liked some more seafood in the dish but was good enough. The calamari was great to start. Fantastic ambience and you can see/hear the displays from the Mexican fiesta on the beach, without the crowds, if you go on the right night. Can be a little pricey but that is expected due to the location. A must visit during your Vidanta stay. Make sure you book a reservation to ensure you get a seat. read more

Service was very friendly and in a timely manner to a point. We ordered the drinks first, but they only delivered 2 of the 3 drinks. After about 10 minutes we waved down the waiter and he sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and I received my drink within 5 minutes. While waiting for our meals we requested bread because the menu said the shared plate we ordered takes 35 minutes. I was a bit disappointed that the bread only arrived after we requested it. All the restaurant's we have been to so far have always supplied a starter before our meals arrived. Weather it is a fruit plate before breakfast main course or bread and bread sticks before the main cause at dinner time. On the flip side the waiter was helpful when I ordered a large shared plate for myself which was very helpful because there is no way I could have finished it by myself. This courtesy help my mother and I to share a paella and we were both full afterwards. I really enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. The staff was friendly and helpful. read more

If I could give -stars, I would. The only note of their food is salt. Our seafood appetizer tasted like a bowl of ocean water with a few shrimp. The oxtail dish had the same taste of excessive saltiness. The beef tenderloin was grissely, minute in size, and just like everything else, excessively salty. February 2018: Late lunch here was five star! The lunch and optional appetizer/snack food selections were plentiful, but not overwhelming, and the same for alcohol and non-alcohol drinks. We travel and dine-out frequently and the prawn appetizer was one if the most flavorful and fresh anywhere on the planet. Service was great, helpful, and prompt. The food was great. However, this is not Spanish food. It's nothing even close to Spanish food. Don't come here expecting tapas or anything close to what you should expect from a typical Spanish restaurant. For example, the tortilla española didn't even have eggs, and no chunks of potatoes. It was some BS version of a tortilla that tasted great but was absolutely nothing close to what I expected. This is the quintessential Spanish tapas dish, you can't claim that you're a Spanish restaurant and mess this up. To make it worse, literally nothing on the dinner menu tonight was Spanish, even the Sangria was a fail. That being said, everything was great, and I enjoyed all the food I ate. But if you're going to claim Spanish food, then I expect only Spanish food (even in México). BTW, I rarely yelp, but this was bad enough for me to open my mouth. read more

This place is exactly what it claims to be -- a very pleasant restaurant with perfect service and an ocean view. Interesting, creative selection of tapas-style small plates that includes seafood, meat, and vegetarian items. Affiliated with the resort, with unexpectedly fair prices for the quality. Pretty good Spanish tortilla too -- based on what we were served, another yelp review challenging its authenticity is mistaken. If I could give negative stars I would. Last night of our honeymoon and we had a reservation for 2 at 7:00 pm. Showed up on time, they had our tickets for dinner but no table. Of course. I went for lunch here with a couple of friends and we ordered drinks, the octopus dish, muscles, a blackboard special of croquettes, and the black risotto. The drinks were great (although it took 30 minutes to get our first drink order) and the ambience was perfect. We loved the octopus dish and the muscles sauce was great. However the black risotto was not good at all. It was too salty and it was suppose to include muscles and scallops. What we got instead was a few calamari rings and a handful of bay scallops. We asked the waiter and he said the dish was only suppose to include calamari and scallops and we asked him to check the menu. Later after we followed up with him he told us we were right. No real apology or explanation. For 405 pesos, it was definitely a let down especially since we had to wait 35 minutes for the paella. We had the squid ink risotto at la palapas in old town a few days earlier and it was so much better. Skip the risotto here(at least the black risotto). read more
